Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. I have an old violin case that holds my Sam (bbb weylin), and Nemo (RS Jun) though they are a bit cramped. I have a large computer bag that I am gonna use for all of them when I get my upcoming 4. I am gonna make sleeves for each of them when I get more material. I have another bag that i got from goodwill i think is a small gun bag that fits my Sam and Nemo. I am debating what to use when traveling by air, since I will take my dolls with me.

    2. I'm almost finished making one for my CP Delf Lishe. Just a cylindrica bag with handles, a zip and a covered piece of 3mm plywood at the bottom to make sure she won't end up bent in half through gravitational force :P I quite like it, oriental red, gold and black fabric. I have a feeling it might end up getting used as a bag for me occasionally!!

    3. The Dollshe has his own white carrier, but the others just get stuffed into whatever works at the time. I have a large black drawstring bag I put some in with padding, and I just might carry a small one in the yellow/gold Bobobie drawstring bag I have. At the last meet I went to, I took dolls in a large picnic wicker basket.

I have been considering either making some carrying cases or buying some but haven't gotten around to it yet.

    4. I don't have Hazama yet but I would LOVE to make a violin case for him! <3

    5. I was thinking about buying a doll bag for my two 70cm boys, but, having to move back to my college dorm for school again, I decided to look for something in my basement that might be able to carry both of them. To my utter surprise, I found a telescope bag that is perfect!! Both Merlot and YuuMu fit in there snugly with some pillows despite being giant (and really heavy) dolls. So happy~~

    6. I just bought a bag from dollmore for my little girl, for a trip I plan on taking. Otherwise I like to carry her myself!

    7. I would love to carry mine in a violin case as well ^^

    8. I am planning to buy a special BJD carrier, just because they are designed to carry them and I would feel the most comfortable with them. And they have a lot of space, too. ^^

    9. All my ResinSoul minis have their RS mini carriers. My SD boy doesn't have a carrier, but then I don't really take him anywhere. One of my tinies has her own carrier as well, which any of the tinies can use. sometimes, I'll put one of the tinies in with one of the MSDs. They don't all go with me at once, so the non-RS dolls sometimes use the RS carriers as well.

    10. I have a black monster high purse. :I Though I'm hoping to find a case I saw at the thrift store. It looked like imitation snakeskin or something, with a glass 'window' in the lid. Perfect for the yo's.

I think it was originally a jewelry or fancy booze case. I should have bought it right then and there. :( It was awesome, but I didn't think I was going to carry my Marc about as much as I do now, or the new yosd girl.

I'm thinking of making my own SD case, but not sure yet.

    11. I have 1 bag for my 2 MSDs; only one doll and a protective pillow fits in at one time. My 70cm should come with his own RS carry case and pillows which I could use for my 65cm Dollzone as well. My tiny fits in my pocket or a normal bag with protective packaging. I doubt I'll need to move them all at once; except for when I move into my own place.

    12. I have one Dollzone for 1/3 and one for 1/4 as I rarely carry more than one doll with me. For me Doll-zones store-made carriers are most comfortable ones.

    13. I use a hat box when carrying multiple dolls. If it's just one my purse normally works.

    14. I just picked up one of Volks's new bags and it's really nice. I thought it was just the old bag with a new fabric until the differences were pointed out to me, but there are actually a ton of subtle improvements. The bottom is stiffer so the bag doesn't bend while being carried, one end of the strap now attaches on the side of the bag just past the handle instead of both ends being at the ends of the bag, which means it carries over the shoulder much more comfortably, there's a nice new strap pad, new interior material, and even an extra handle on the "top" end for picking the bag up while vertical or for pulling it off of a shelf. It's also a bit bigger in diameter than the old bags. Definitely worth a look if you didn't like the old version of the Volks bag for any of the things they've now improved upon.

    15. My doll did an entire train journey sat in my bag, it's not the biggest bag and she's SD size but she looked quite funny with her head stuck out the end.

    16. I have a very nice store-bought carrying bag with stars! I like it very much:D

    17. Does anyone make a hard case, like you see for wind instruments? I've love one that opened up and had foam cutout in the shape of a doll, just like the way my Iplehouse came packed.

    18. Volks makes violin cases, but that's as close as I've seen.

For serious hard cases, I'm sure Pelican makes an appropriately-sized case for whatever doll you might want to put in it, but they use black foam that I'd worry might stain a doll.

    19. But doesn't Ringdoll also pack their dolls in black foam?

    20. This is one area where I think the doll manufacturers could make a point of difference and more sales is if they offered a doll carrier inside the delivery box as part of the protection pillows. I have investigated many avenues and there are some lovely boxes out there but they all have one soul purpose which is simply to carry dolls from one spot to another. My problem is that they are only for one or two dolls so if thats all you plan on taking anywhere that is great but if you have a collection its less useful. I think if the dolls came with a soft carry bag each they would be more likely to be all taken say to a doll show for instance, than just one or two. And then there is the space required for each doll to have its own case. Perhaps if the hard case was a wardrobe also it would be more useful and I think some doll companies have covered that with other makes of dolls. How wonderful would it be for bjd's. I cant see why Asian manufacturer could not create a reasonable (say around $50) doll wardrobe that would fit various bjd's. Preferably something that could even be customised. Or have they already? Anyone else find them?
