1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. Fairyland does too, but it's a rubbery closed-cell foam, and I have to assume that they've tested and picked it specifically because it doesn't stain. The foam in Pelican cases is an open-cell spongey foam, and while I obviously can't say for certain that it will stain, I also can't be sure enough that it won't stain to feel comfortable recommending it.

    2. As someone with a destroyed back I have to consider how i carry things... A 3 day con before I had my doll would leave me borrowing moms walker by the 2nd day. If it's short outing a large bag my guy can sit in (he's 70cm). I have an msd size girl too that I'd like to carry too. Eventually I will have at least 2 70ish dolls. And I read an earlier post (sorry forget who ><) that mentioned baby prams... this was a great reminder since I also dress psydo Victorian style (short skirts if its hot LOL). And I had thot how cool if I could go to a doll meet at our big park dressed victorian pushing a vintage pram with my dolls and everything else needed for a picnic (with my doll club). So I just went to my local kijiji site and found a mess of prams like my parents used for a makeshift crib when I was born.... For about 100 dollars! Perfect..I plan on having one by summer ^^. should work to carry multiple dolls, my large purse and anything else I might need for long con days or picnics... Though the suitcase type case is great too.

    3. My dolls get carried in different things, depending on which one/how many I'm carrying. I have a yoga mat bag for my giant Model boy because he's the tallest of my guys. I also have a single doll carrier for 68cm that came with my RS girl, which works for carrying one doll from that size down to about 60 cm, and I have one 60-65 cm carrier as well. Then I have a baseball bat bag that I use when I want to carry two or more SDs/MSDs around with me. The Pukis have a tiny plastic coffin which was meant as a case for something else, but is great to protect them, my CD tiny has his own wardrobe/travel case, and the other tinies get wrapped up in padding and stuck in with whatever larger dolls I'm taking out, or shoved in a messenger bag. I also have a giant homemade wooden coffin case. It used to get carted around on a wheeled frame, but that has proven a PITA to manoeuver around in public places with large crowds, so I've just converted it to a backpack. I built it to fit two SD dolls more or less comfortably, but it can be made to fit three in a pinch, provided they're not all 70cm. (The coffin is my favorite, but I can't always be bothered to haul such a bulky thing around with me, so the various other carriers see more use.)

    4. I was just going to say camera equipment carriers would be pretty good for doll transport.

Just got a Dollzone MSD carry bag in the mail today, amazing amount of room, and pockets! I have an Island Yo-SD bag and a tiny carry bag I made myself for my really small dolls. I am getting an Island Leshy and I will be making him a bag too.

It is from a pattern by Lisa Lam of u-handbag 'Sugar Loaf Pouches' and I made it longer.

    5. Actually D.O.D. used to sent their D.O.C. dolls inside a carrier bag, and sister's Too n my Bee-a came in with it, which is reli reli useful when u want to take them out for photoshoots... but since a few years than they now use a box like everyone else, oh I miss the old days...

    6. I use a tripod bag for my dolls under 60cm and I have an HZ carry bag that came with my HZ doll that I use for the really big boys.

    7. I've never though of using a violin case!! Now I want one for my doll XD

    8. So far I only have one bag for my dolls, one of the dollmore bags, looks like a bigger version of a bowling ball bag to me XD I need to think of another way of caring my big boys though, since they so do not fit, been thinking of modding a rolling suitcase.

    9. I'm making a viola case into a carrying case for my dolls. Right now I don't have a case for them, which is okay because I don't really take them far away outside anyway :sweat

    10. I'd love to get a violin case for my girl, she has no carrier right now (if I can't find a violin case I'll make her one during the summer)
right now I carry her wherever she goes

      EDIT: 2017/10/30
I use a VOLKS carrier (not the violin one, the soft one) and I love it.
It fits both my SD10 girls easily and has lots of pockets for things like restringing supplies and clothes.

    11. Evra and Dean came with carrying cases, everyone else has to travel in their original boxes. Poor Ian didn't even have that so he has to share a box with Arra.

    12. Actually my doll came with the doll carrier bag. So it is not a problem for me to find doll case.

    13. I had a carrying case, it broke. Now I use the cheap tote bags from the Disney store. They're cheap but hardy and you'd be surprised at how many dolls you can fit in there securely.

    14. A thought I've had is that I'd like to renovate a either a newish suitcase or a vintage one with foam, straps and the like to keep my dolls upright and safe and then I could just strap em in a roll em about. I'm I'm the process of figuring out how to do so.

    15. I use the Luts black bag.

    16. If you figure it out ... do a tutorial for it ^_^??? i have the new type upright type (not the hard hard one, mine is a heavy tapestry)... with telscoping handle and rollers and and older regular soft sided type from the early 80's (i got it new in 82 to fly to Hawaii as a kid ;P ) But I can't figure out how to mod it. I am sure i could make the sides of the old one solid just by using hard inserts of some kind but the rest... im a bit foggy on -_- the strapping has me buffaloed.

    17. I may have to go with a Build a Bear carrier - that is a great idea for the smaller ones.

    18. I got mine about 9 months ago and he was in a hard, dense, white foam. I can take pictures if you need them. It is NOTHING like the foam FL or Iple uses.

I carry my stuff in a couple of things: I have doll carriers but I also have a duffelbag from REI that can hold a TON of stuff. Also, rolling sewing machine cases work great and I've heard good things about scrapbooking rolling bags as well.
