1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. The strapping shouldn't actually be too difficult.^^ I made a hard carrying case for my guys and ran the straps beneath the padding/lining so that they're anchored underneath everything. Wide elastic or webbing straps and either side release or slide buckles should serve well for straps to keep dolls in place, though right now, my case has canvas straps. I wouldn't advise using that unless you use a heavier kind than mine is, though-get upholstery grade rather than the stuff band patches are made out of.

    2. FWIW Elfdoll packs/ships their dolls in a spongy open-cell black foam, and my dolls have never suffered staining because of it.

I really do prefer the "brand" carriers, given the alternatives. I'd really, REALLY like one of the Dollmore trunkcarriers. I adore my double bag, but god I wish it had wheels/a handle. Dolls are HEAVY and I've lugged that thing through airports/across the country before and good god my back. I may see if I can jury-rig wheels and a handle onto it somehow.

    3. Two dolls size MSD in one carrier bag from Dollzon, and large in a backpack.
Before that I tried carrier bag from Soom. But I did not like.
A backpack perfect fit and there placed two dolls size 70cm.

    4. And it kept him safe too. All I had to do was haul it over my shoulder and walk around. During the con I had him out and against his pillow. He didn't slide around once.

    5. I have a carrier for ONE of my dolls that my husband made out of a tent storage bag and a cardboard box. I have yet to get the other two a bag of their own, or one to share.

    6. I went to the thrift store ( D.I here is utah) and was just going to repurpose an old bag with good bones for a doll carrier. I figured I have awhile since I just ordered my doll through the marketplace here and she has to go through customs and the like. When my roomie ( cluke here on DoA) spotted an old camera bag. This is going to be perfect. it has the structure that it wont crush in, and it has a divider so that i can get her in fairly snug and carry any other things that could rattle around and possibly cause damage will be contained. Not to mention it has outside pockets and the over body strap that is adjustable. totally scored with that find, best part? Bag was $1. I would def recommend checking out something like that especially if you are going to have a tinier doll like me.

    7. Whenever I take my girl out, I usually just keep her in a larger zip-up shoulder bag I had. It's roomy enough that I can have her just kind of curl up in the bottom of it and put whatever else I need in additional pockets I have. I hope to get her a proper carrier eventually though. It's kind of weird because she gets kind of cramped up in there and her legs sometimes get displaced and whatnot.

    8. Currently out of all my 1/4 AOD BJD's, Melfina is the only one I really take along once in a while.
When I do she's in an old diaper bag with a round cat bed inside.
She sits up in the cat bed with it folded over her, and her wig/shoes/clothes and whatever goes in an outside pocket.

When carrying multiples short distances for photo-shoots I have a small backpack they stand up in with wigs/accessories etc. in an outside pocket.
When there are more than two in the backpack I can't zip it completely, and the max I feel safely carrying in it is four at a time.
I plan on modifying a (possibly hard) wheeled suitcase with straps or buckles to carry eight or more at once with accessories someday.

    9. I have a Soom carrying case that I use, and I like it. That tripod case looks really great too, Sicktress. Thanks for the tip, if I'm looking for another case it'll be on my list :)

    10. I don't have a carrying case yet (Though I really need to get one) But this is my set up for taking my girls in the car: (I found this amazing bunny that has a flat bottom, and works perfect as a booster seat lol It's really secure, too. There are a lot of twisty roads around me and she didn't move an inch!)

    11. I've been using a vintage luggage box thing I found at an antique store but now that I have more than one doll to carry I'm going to have to find something a bit bigger, I'm really tempted to just get one of the doll carriers I've seen on dollmore.

    12. I'm making a snug doll carrier! It's 50CM, but well padded, so my 44CM girl is very snug. It's also waterproof on the outside :)

    13. I wrap mine in a small blanket or towel and stuff him into my backpack :3

    14. I got the coolest carrier off eBay which has a punk rock theme. I also made one but its pretty rough!

    15. I bought a IMPL carrier bag from Thinkpink for my Iplehouse JID Girl Yuriko (MSD). My Resinsoul Girl (also MSD) Faerwen was delivered with a bag from her company. I'm scared they could damage if I pack two dolls in one bag :sweat

    16. I have a DollMore bag and I love it! It fits my Pepper very well. :)

    17. UPDATE!
No more old diaper bag for this gal!

I discovered the smallest of my three matching Betty Boop rolling luggage set will easily hold two dolls!
I could have tried three dolls, or used bungee cords or something, but this is what I felt safe with at the time.
I could have also carried extra wigs/clothes/accessories, but being their first trip, I went easy on them.

The two dolls are both Angel of Dream 1/4 sized; One male and one female.

      Here it is:

Note: The towel was for both cushioning and protection.
      Ta-da!

      It worked really well.
They went from car to car, rolled around, were carried, and were safe for a three day weekend trip!

    18. I currently use a white pleather Dollshe carrying bag that came with my Husky to carry all 5 1/2 of my dolls.
However, once my second big boy gets his body, I might switch to my LL Bean wheelie duffel bag so I'll have more room.

    19. The_Modern_Maiden: Love your Betty Boop case for your dolls... looks great in your photos. Currently, I have one double SD sized Dollmore black bag and I absolutely love it. I have been able to take two SD and one MSD in it with some goodies just in case safely. It is a bit heavy but I have had four kids and carrying this case is nothing compared to that =D
