Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. So far I've just been using the boxes my dolls came in put inside a large shoulder bag that I have. It's really not ideal and I want to find something better soon.

At the doll meet I went to recently I met a girl who carries all of her dolls in a Tokidoki diaper bag. I thought it was such a great idea because the diaper bag is already padded and it comes with a sort of padded mat to lay your baby on for changing and she uses that to wrap up one of her dolls when she puts it in the bag. Plus the Tokidoki pattern looks so cool that it doesn't seem as much like something for a baby.

    2. I found out MSDs fit nicely into my Laptop Bag =D I just have one home at the moment but I am pretty sure a second one would fit into it as well.
I even might be lucky and 'smaller' SDs fit in there too. I doubt though that once my 70cm boys arrive they will fit in there. So will have to find a solution for that. Eventually I'll just buy a nice big rather cheap bag from somewhere.

    3. My dolls are smaller and I like to take them out to the park and graveyards to do photo shoots. I use a medium size picnic basket where I can sit them down. I can fit 2-3. The picnic basket comes with nice cloth napkins that I can use as blankets to sit them on in the park or tablecloths for small tables.

    4. I usually use a rolling bag. Just because it conveniently carries everything I need. I always, always want to be prepared so I never, ever have to turn back and go home to get somethig I forgot or regret it when I'm at the venue. One more is a guitar case. It fits a whole lot of dolls and perfect for those times when I truly want to bring a variety of sizes.

    5. Same :)
I used my backpack today to carry my two msds (one in the inner laptop sleeve and one in the outside) plus my two smaller off topic dolls. I just stuffed in some of my doll pillows and it worked great. Easy to carry too!

    6. I have a DollShe carrier that I can usually stuff BJDs into like a clown car, but I have tried to move away from using that so much. Too cramped! Now I don't really have a "carrier" with handles or a strap or anything...I have found that large storage boxes meant to be stored under a bed are a great alternative for me. They might look a little strange, but they're cheap, easily available, and no one gets squashed.

    7. I have a Volks violin case for my MSD darling. I like the feeling when I carry her inside it! I feel like a violin virtuoso where in fact, I'm just a BJD enthusiast. I fool a lot of people! :dance

    8. I use a picnic basket that looks like a suitcase lol

    9. It depends where/how far I'm going...
Usually when I go to meets I pack them up in a rolling lightweight suitcase. I pad the inside with white towels and cushions from Luts shipping boxes and use protection for their faces. I tighten the straps around their bodies to hold them securely in place so they don't end up with their faces smooshed against the front.

Sometimes I'll use a sturdy flat-bottomed reusable shopping bag and sit them in it like a basket.

If I'm traveling far I only take one or two and I can carefully wrap them and keep them in my camera bag. When I'm flying I want them in my carry on XD

    10. I'm going to make some padded carriers out of my HUGE fabric stash and some iron-on quilt batting. Like, today. I'll start with one for my Groove Ai, then make another for when Harriet arrives. She's still in the pre-shipping phase, though.

    11. I have a big, soft, rilakkuma purse that I can tuck an MSD into. If I need to carry my smaller girl (she's an Ai) she fits perfectly into a little side bag I have, as well as my ID and cards :D
If I ever have to go anywhere for a long period of time I'd for sure buy a carrier to hold my girls in.

    12. I have three: A Volks MSD long carrier (Plus side is that it's so big that if I can do it right, I can have at least one SD and one MSD in it and maybe a YoSD if I wanted to try), a Dollmore Double-SD carrier (Where I can fit all of the MSDs and YoSDs or at least two SDs like they suggest and most of the MSDs), and a rolling sewing machine tote (For the SDs and any of the small stuff I wanted to carry with me). :)

    13. I use quilted carry bags for my dolls

    14. Here's my list of bags:
Dollmore pink double carrier (they can sit in this bag)
Rolling Sewing machine bag from Walmart from Black Friday
      Volks SD bag in plaid
      Impldoll bag

      My fiancee's:
Unknown brand double bag (they can sit in this bag live the Dollmore one)
      Blue Yoga bag
      Brown yoga bag

    15. I have a carrier bag now which I use pretty much always, but before that I used a wide laptop bag which worked just as well. So I use either one of those two, or carry the doll in my arms, depends where I'm going.

    16. I am just curious, I used to carry my Isul doll in a wine carrying gift box thing. I was wondering if anyone else did that? I just got my first BJD boy, he's a YOSD, and I was just looking on amazon. Does anyone think it might be possible to safely carry a doll in one?

    17. if you can roll up the doll in a towel and fit it in it should be okay? How safe a doll is has more to do with if it needs protecting from being bumped and banged around... mine essentially sit in something not much more than an open box (bassinet of buggy), with maybe a cover over them to keep direct light off them in transit in the van. It would take a car wreck to harm the dolls since normal bouncing in the van doesn't do anything to them. I just lay them in neatly, tucking finger from poking stuff an wigs off so I don't loose them. like filling a picnic basket so stuff won't shift around.

    18. I strap my 3 MSDs into a rolling carry-on bag. I can keep some clothes and hair stuff in the zippered compartment too. It's pretty convenient n_n

    19. Yeah, I was just wondering if if maybe a wine bottle carrier box (NOT a sleeve) because it's made to make sure that wine bottles don't clink and chip and stuff?

    20. i got a long tripod bag from my dad and it fits my boy so well, still left space for clothes :P
