Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. Okay I'm comission-ing this bag from a friend in japan.
I like it cause - i love showing off my doll so taking them out and placing them back in is a huge hassle and there's a hoodie at the top to do just that.

I offered her buckles so she can use it instead of strings

I also got her to get some foam inserts to prevent some minor impacts

    3. Well I'll still need a bag I'll just get a tote bag and protective cover.

Since in the future if i move to a natural disaster prone country i need something i could carry around easily and not look like a total idoit

    4. Carrying a doll to be seen (a big doll like SD size) for outdoor meets and such I use a build-a-bear "backpack" carrier (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/uL4AAOSw4slfdcVc/s-l1600.jpg) Thye're meant for kids to put bears in, of course, but the straps are long enough to let out and go around even a fat old man like me, so it works, and I tend to have it with the doll in front, rather than on my back.

    5. My dolls get carried in a large duffel bag I have and padded with blankets. Though if I just have one with me (usually Ilya) I carry him.

    6. I’ve tried a couple of bags. One was a clear see through back pack meant to be for carrying pets but my dolls were too big for it. Then I got a Cricut carrying case that’s very similar to doll carriers and have straps to secure them. a cheaper option in case you can’t afford a bjd doll carrier.

    7. what a fun way to carry around your doll!
they must look so cute in those! :XD:

    8. oh thats smart! cricut bags look so sleek too!

    9. Honestly I have no idea re: NaNaNa, but it sounds like a similar concept yeah. Just a doll or two hanging out in their room looking adorable while you wander around a convention. Blaise has his own little Hello Kitty cushion and tiny shelves of equally tiny fandom stuff that would probably look great in here, actually...

I've seen people mention bringing their larger (+60cm) dolls with them to do shopping or whatever just to have them around--without a case, mind you--and I'm in awe tbh? Takes real cajones to just say "nah I don't care what you think, my doll is great", and I respect that.

What if an Idealian in one of these? Fully dressed in a suit or whatever, big broody looking dude... stuffed in a baby carrier.

    10. @Toxigenesis I 100% agree with the idea of putting your fancifully dressed broody man in a baby carrier :XD:

also ikr!!! I would be moreso worried about damage than what other people think tho! but yea hella props to people who take them around especially without cases!

    12. Sounds good to me.

For more general (not-on-view) carrying of dolls, I use my regualr workaday backpack if it's just a doll or two goign to work with me (as long as their faceip and wig are protected - I use a silk scarf or scrap of soft fabric ) they come to no harm in there with my other stuff.

If I want to take a lot of them to a meet or dolly day, I layer them in a wheelie suitcase with cushions or fabric between them, or a regular doll carrier (three or four SD in one - the tighter theyre packed the less they move the less damage they;'re likely to sustan - not that I've ever had any of them get damaged) , a flight-bag (the sort that sits on top of your carry-on size wheelie shiutcase with a strap aorund the pull handle) for smaller dolls, and a backpack or shoulder bag (combinations of the se depending on how many dolls I'm taking - I think 30 was the biggest number to one meet, but I coud have taken more if my Lusion wan't one of them).

The shoulder bag I made. Cotton canvas outer, quilted cotton lining for a bit of padding, lots of external pockets outside and inside for accesories, directions to the doll meet etc. I cut it so that it was a bit taller than my tallest SD when sitting, and a bit wider than his leg-length so twoSD sized dolls can sit facing each other with others (and smaller colls) layered on their laps, all securely zipped in once filled. I can fit four or five SD sized dolls and a few smaller ones in it, but it gets a bit heavy even with the straps over my shoulder if I fill it to capacity.

I've been looking at sewing-machine carriers - they're roomy and padded with sturdy flat bottoms, designed to bear the weight of sewing machines (so shoould be fine for resin) and not very expensive, especially if you wait for bargains and special-offers on sewing chanels and the like. If I'd thought of it before i went to the toruble of making my own bag, I might have goen that route instead.

    13. your bag looks really well made though! if you didn't say anything I would have thought it was bought lol!

    14. Thanks!

It's my first foray into bag maiing but I thought it was worth giving it a try.

    15. oh my gosh guys I think I've found ways to carry my doll around in the future but I can't pick just one!!!!
should I go simple and modern with a large capacity makeup bag?
or do I just go full in on the rozen maiden aesthetic with a luggage case?

      I literally cannot decide....pls help :?

    16. The second option looks way cooler, but the other looks more versatile

    17. Right???? :o

    18. The only sensible course of action is to find a third option that blows them both out of the water.

    19. @ohnoaiwa the second one is labelled as decorative/a prop for photography, I'd have some concerns about the hinges giving up while you are carrying your doll with it

    20. @SunnyWindy good point! I might only get in the future as means of storage maybe then haha
      @Teddy of course!!!!
