Doll Carrying Bags...Buy or Make or Convert!

Jun 10, 2007

    1. I carry my doll in the worst ways. The first time was her, and her pillows stuffed in a pillowcase, and then in a bag. Last week, it was a plastic bag.

      I need decent transportation.

    2. I've been there too, but more cramming my boys in a backpack with fabric wrapped around them than anything. For a cheaper fix, I've found sewing machine bags to be really great, and depending on where you find them, cheap doll bags. In the one I have now, I can fit both of my boys (72 and 62cm) and my mini girl on top of them with no problems.

    3. I only have 1 and it doesn't fit any MSD's, its a metal box that was for BBQ utensils, I think it could take some serious punishment before the doll inside broke

    4. I have two carriers-the Dollmore one that holds two dolls sitting down across from each other and the new Volks one. I prefer the Volks one because I can easily sling it on my back which is really convenient if I have to walk far or if I have to take the train.

    5. I use huge gym bags for my dolls...

    6. I come to think I have an individual carrier for every doll I own xD
      - 2 MSD Dolls: one dollzone carrier and one knitting bag with horribly cute owls on it (Best thing I ever came across at my job xD)
      - 1 SD: dollmore carrier
      - 1 70cm : spiritdoll carrier (came for free)
And the tiny goes in his pillowbag in whatever carrier I'm taking xD

    7. I carry SD's wrapped in a blanket in some zip bag from shock store. (I have no idea how to describe it though -.-) It's too small for the two of them so I have to carry one in my arms, or use a huge Hello Kitty zip bag (a bit embarrasing actually) that both fits in instead xD
The tiny (a honey delf) is often just carried in a bit of thick fabric in my ordinary bag, or in a tiny backpack. They always have their face protector-thingies though, when I carry them somewhere, if not in my arms. I have to buy a real carrier bag some day -.-

    8. I have a Dollmore MSD sized carrier. (The one they have for sale now that is pink and it has two outside pockets and short and long handles) It can fit one MSD with pillows (I always pack with pillows) and some tiny sized dolls and a 12 inch sized doll and they all fit comfprtably with the outter pockets stuffed with extras like clothes, props and cell phone etc. I really like my Dollmore bag.

    9. I actually have two an msd impldoll one and a hello kitty kids luggage bag that I got at target that I use when I want to take more than one doll with me both work perfect

    10. I have yet to buy a bag for my boy, but I'll likely have to make one. I'm simply in love with the idea of a coffin bag....soo morbid. Though I definitely do like actual doll bags comapnies sell, they look like they're really good quality.

    11. My school bookstore had a sale and I found a nice duffel bag that fits a 70cm in a sitting position, or an 1/4 lying down. Also has a lot of outside pockets for knicknaks.

    12. I bought a bag for the photo tripod, it was cheaper than a special carrier bag and it suits perfectly for my SSD boy) as for the tiny dolls I put them into the soft pencilcase and carry in my bag))))))

    13. I have two carry methods. For serious travel, I carry my dolls in a vintage hard-sided American Tourister suitcase. It is really retro and has interior pockets that help to store an outfit or wig change. I can put two SD dolls lying on their sides spooning, with the elfkin in his body bag alongside. I made pillows for under and over dolls and there are straps inside for holding them all in place. Works great, is sturdy, weatherproof and not terribly heavy. Cost 4.99 at a thrift store. I'm a thrift store ho BTW.

When I'm taking just one SD or one plus the elfkin I have several baskets that they sit in. Easy to carry around the ren faire, to dinner, or to a tea party. Rides well in the car. I keep it draped with fabric to keep out the sunlight as needed. Baskets at said thrift store .99. Can't beat that with a stick.

I really haven't felt the need yet for an official doll bag, since these two options are working quite well for me.

    14. Has anybody used a hard sided gun case? I found one I like, I'd probly put white silk over the darker foam, but I figure they're sturdy and the doll won't move when pressed in the foam. Not to mention, I don't think I can beat the price to build my own.(found one for $10).
I'm a new dolly owner looking to travel with her soon, and I'm paranoid about flying with her.

    15. I'm really happy with the Volks ones. We've got both current models (Black Lattice and Mixed Tweed) and they're quite nice, and they're actually pretty reasonably priced when you consider the shipping costs of buying one from an overseas seller.

    16. I agree with cosplayshots, I feel I only need the one carrier though ^mixed tweed^ it is just so wonderful it makes packing the doll and everything just so simple and care free. I heart my volks carrier ^O^ As for making one I dont have the time or patience or desire to. I also think the dollmore carriers are lovely but the volks one is tops in my book.

    17. I am attempting to make a bag before I go and buy one because I'd like to be able to fit most of my dolls in one bag. If I find it's a bust, then I'm debating on modifying a case or buying a DZbag.

    18. Luckily my Iple YID came with a case, but that leaves the two 70cm ones without. I'm torn between a tripod case and the DZ bag. Tripod cases come padded or unpadded, hard or soft and in a variety of sizes. Can find mdoerately priced ones. May need to add straps and they basically hold one big doll. The DollZone bag looks like it could fit two dolls with a bit of foam between. It's a bit builky, but seems less so than duffels if you're wanting an option for carrying more than one doll around cons and such. Cons can be crowded, and rolling bags get bumped around. It can be found via US retailers. Decisions, decisions. I wish that Volks bag was a bit bigger.

    19. I don't have a doll yet so I don't think I need a bag yet X3
I will be starting to make bags for LTF and such when I get mine.
As for MSD, I'm going to use an old, very sturdy and waterproof violin case that I don't use anymore, I'm going to take out the inside, use the protection that came inside the doll's box, line it with some nice, soft and light colored material and add some straps so my boy doesn't fall out easily.

    20. i still put my nagong in the box and im thinking about either making him a box or buy one from the store.
