1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Chateau Kid Dolls Discussion: Part 9

Sep 25, 2019

    1. I’m a big fan of alpaca/ mohair, they look amazing!!!

    2. [IMG]
I changed the tone of hair and eyes on my Nicola and I’m amazed how color can transform an entire face!!!

    3. Nicola is stunning! Those colours look beautiful on her. What a gorgeous doll.

    4. That combination is stunningly beautiful on her! It truly brings her to life.:)

    5. @Zacarias - Oooh that purple is awesome!! :D Flocking is so tricky to get right, and that's speaking from years of experience. :sweat But keep going, you've got this!

@Naomicamlux - It's such a simple change but it really does just add so much to a doll. She's beautiful! :)

    6. One of the heads I seriously regret taking too long to get were the Irma head. I had plans for the character. Then it got discontinued :...( It were such an important character too, to one of my most important group of dolls. Irma belongs to their background story.

And now I'm over the moon happy that this head is available again for a limited time :XD: I'm ordering as soon as I'm able too, should be after the 19th next month.

But I have a question since I don't know much at all about DC dolls and DZ. But somewhere I heard DC is a parent company to DZ, correct me if I'm wrong. The question anyways is, are the gray skins similar?

I'm thinking of getting the 45 or 47cm DZ boy body for the head.

    7. I don't have any up to date information, so someone else may know better, but at least in the past they were sister companies and shared casting facilities. If they still do, I'd say there is a very good chance that their skintones are identical, at least if they are cast around the same time.

    8. Ok, thanks. I decided to go with the peach color instead, as I came up with a character that I like. I checked resin comaparison color chart on the peach skin from both companies, and at least they seemed pretty much the same in the images.

    9. Best of luck!

    10. Thanks :)

    11. Now I'm unsure if I should go for peach or gray skin Irma. If I choose gray skin I do have a DZ 47cm gray skin boy body at home that I can try my luck at.

But I'm wondering how the peach color look irl?

Both my TV and PC screen probably don't show an accurate color. It seem kind of moon colored with a tiny bit of warm peach, idk...

The character my Irma is going to be is based on someone who already have gray skin. A non human character. But I'm wondering if I can pull off the same kind of look I'm going for, with the peach skin as well. Would a character based on the alien race "the grays" also be possible with the peach skin?

    12. I'd say if you are committed to them being grey, go for a grey head. DC and DZ share casters being sister companies. At worst, the neck is gonna be a little thick since DC likes to make the necks super skinny on their dolls. But that is easily remedied (just sand the neckhole bigger on the head). Peach is like a pinkish white skin, so it definitely has a pink undertone to it (I have 2 peach skin dolls from DZ at home).

I could do a comparison of the grey to peach skin if that would help, as I have both at home. Both samples are older, but still a good representation of the color differences.

    13. I have a DZ and DC in peach resin. The resin is almost identical.

    14. @IzabethS, @Zacarias This is going to be a hard choice because I got 2 possible character ideas that I both like, but only one Irma head that I plan to buy.

One idea is going almost full alien with the gray skin. By almost full alien I mean he got his natural skin color still. If I go with the peach skin, the character have made an attempts at mimicking humans more to blend in better. With the Peach skin he'd be a cute pastel alien. He'll be a lot more colorful in what he wears. I do kind of like the idea of a cute, cheeky alien in disguise.

The order period according to Alice's Collections, end on the 25th. I do have until the 19th myself to make up my mind. Until then I'll have to work on coming up with a faceup. I guess the faceup determines what I'll choose in the end. I won't be painting myself though. All I can do is make a bad attempt at drawing a faceup idea on my iPad.

But either way, whatever I choose he'll be a raving alinen, probably, maybe

And thanks for the image :) Hopefully I'll figure this out sooner rather than later.

Edit: After a second thought I think maybe I'll just go with this body. Doll Parts, Doll Chateau - BJD, BJD Doll, Ball Jointed Dolls - Alice's Collections

It is a really nice body and fit an alien kind of character well.

There's also this body that got smaller neck size than the one above. Anybody know if Irma would look good on this body?

I'd take of the extra joints to make it a bit shorter though.

    15. dc and dz use the same caster so yes, should match as much as any resin from different batches match. dz doesn't do green though for some reason, which always made me sad.

i'm all paid up for my green girl, at some point she'll get a body lol. dc wait times are loooong though. in excess of 6 months it seems. so i have quite a while to save up. I know gem has a very close match to their green as well, in case anyone wanted more options for that one specific colour lol.
i still havn't decided what sort of body I want, just that i don't want ot too tall. 50cm+ dolls don't fit my shelves lol. they can't stand up.

    16. If I had ordered before Irma got discontinued some years ago, I would have choosen green skin. But for the Irma now I have decided to go with gray skin as I came up with a faceup on my iPad that will look great with the gray skin. Too bad it will be that many months waiting time, but the most important thing is I get an Irma :whee:

The green skin look awesome, would be cool to maybe have a doll in that color too someday.

Another question, which head size look good on this 50cm body?

I know it says head size around 16.5cm should fit, and the Irma head are 17cm. But someone said that the Irma head are much smaller looking in real life, smaller than the DZ Carter head, and probably won't look good on the body in the link.

I love the idea of an Irma on that body though, as I don't want my alien to feel too much like a child in comparison to my IH SID Omar.

    17. I find the SHAPE of the head is the more pressing issue. Some heads that have nominally got the same circumference look different due to the "weight" of the features.

    18. A few days ago I received DollChateau k-body-23 in peach skin. It's beatufil and poses great.
I did a comparison with other DC bodies. Maybe it will be useful to someone. :)

On this occassion I also tried on various DC heads. The photos are on my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/frigida_/
