Doll Chateau Tiny Discussion Part 2

Sep 17, 2014

    1. Still no one willing to make comparison pictures of Carol/Laetitia or Elsia/Betty near other yosd/tiny dolls? :(
      Please?

    2. I don't have a Fairyland Tiny/YoSD as you requested a few posts back, but could put my Carol next to a Soom, Peakswoods or Little Monica YoSD if it would be helpful?

      Edit:

Not the best photo but here is Carol next to a Peak's Woods and Soom YoSD.

    3. Thanks a lot!

I love Elsia/betty and Carol/Laetitia bodies, but i am still looking for a head... I may end up getting a tan BB8 body for a Realfee tan Pupu head with the hope the match won't be too bad (I may wait for some tans to arrive to be sure...) I wish I could trade it for a ws one... or get a Jodie/Hillary head (I already have an Hilary and two Jodies...)

I have considered a PW Rabbit Goon (I have liked that sculpt since a long time), so your picture is indeed helpful!

    4. Skimo your hybrids all turn out so well. I'm hoping you can find the right head and share your doll with us. You are so creative with your dolls!

I like the Leticia head, and would love to find a different body (I don't have one, so it's just a dream). But since I'm getting Fiona, I can't do anything doll wise for a while. Too many unique choices lately!

    5. I love your Carol... Thanks for mentioning suede and wire the joints, my Carol is really knee jerky and I have been dieing to ask about this issue and now it's on topic we can!! Wahey... Which size wire did you use? And was it hot glue suede? Love your dolls btw, and all your pics on Flickr :3nodding:

    6. I have noticed my DC Katherine seems to have one leg slightly shorter than the other, which makes posing difficult on those heels...the same leg seems to like to twist out in a certain way too. I wondered if it could be due to the elastic and being strung too tightly??? Would this cause a foot to be shorter than the other? Any ideas or tips greatly received. Could add a pic if anyone needs to see...

    7. I think mine actually has a similar issue - in that one leg seems a teeny tiny bit shorter and therefore posing becomes difficult. Maybe add a sliver of epoxy to the bottom of the shorter leg's shoe? That's all I can think of right now haha.
      By the way does anything seem odd about your Katherine's elbows? One on mine's is kind of sharp where the ball is and seems to have cut into the upper part of the joint in the upper arm and now the joints wont fit properly or pose well :< I've thought about sanding the inside down and using epoxy to fix it, though, but I'll do that maybe when I'm less busy ^^;

    8. Yay, thanks for replying... I thought about building up the shoe with Miliput epoxy, and then thought before I do I would shout out and ask...I suppose adding a few mm is not too bad it can always be removed in future, and is better than an untimely face-plant!!! As for the elbow joints !!!! Yes, yes, yes... I have to be so careful with them as they always seem to be popping out and they are very sharp as you say, which makes me mindful that I could chip them as similar. I was thinking about the possibilities of making a little epoxy peanut joint for them, but they would be very tiny !!!
It would be great if I could see a pic of the joint issue on your girl.

    9. Ah so I wasn't the only one. That's good to know! I've taken some pics here (sorry about the quality my phone camera isn't the best ^^; ). Named so you at least know what they're meant to show :v Sta.sh Uploads 225

    10. Thanks for the pics, and yeah the pics that show your dolls arm not sitting in the joint correctly is exactly how mine presents!!! But, I have not looked inside to see the possibility of any damage as such. I will defo get mine out tomorrow, and give her a thourough joint examination!!! And will let you know the results he he...btw, I like the photo host stash site, I have a deviant art account and didn't know the stash existed, so thanks for that link too. Do you think our dolls arrived like this? mine was strung so tightly upon arrival I don't think I would have noticed the elbow thing, at first.

    11. @HoneyRyder Thank you a lot :) I can't remember which wire size it is I bought a big roll of wire a few years back in a gardeners supply shop and mostly use it for all of my dolls. But is was hot glue sueding :)

Regarding that Katherine problem: I have my Madeline on a Katherine body and one of her elbow joints is a bit wonky as well, it pops out quite often... standing is a bit better she can balance well on her heels. DC always has some little problems here and there the ability to stand is always a bit .... bad (yet I have over 20 from them if I include the hybrids :doh).

Here is a (wip) shot of my Madeline with the joint being annoying ..

    12. This WiP is absolutely stunning...your doll collection and the styling you have done is drool worthy!!! *now wipes mouth* The elbow joint is something I was discussing last night, and we both have a similar issue, with just one of the joints, I saw some pics of inside the joint which looked a little damaged, so I am going to check mine today. As for the leg issue, I may add a few mm of miliput to the shoe area. I am definitely going to invest in some wire as I have a few DC dolls now, and it seems the way to go if you want to achieve more out of them for photography. Thanks for sharing your work it is wonderful.

    13. I have a Nehemie ..... Squeeeee and I love her, But sadly this little darling is Off-Topic !!!! So, no pictures I am afraid.

    14. @HoneyRyder Ahaha no problem ^^ And yeah I'm pretty sure mine arrived like this, as I noticed the problem pretty quickly after unboxing. I don't know if being tightly strung was the main issue (though would have certainly worsened it) but the way the piece came out of the cast made the ball part of the joint very sharp around the hole that the elastic goes through, and I'm pretty sure it's digging into the resin the the upper arm part and causing the damage :0 But like I said I'll see if I can save it with milliput (especially since the sharp part seems to flake off at times so I think it's a little thin around that area too :< )

@Shchel Wow, your Madeline is gorgeous! That's an amazing paint job <3 Can't wait to see her finished ^u^

    15. Hello, today i got my tiny event doll Ada- wondering if someone who own her have some posing tips? It seems that back legs are shorten than front and it take some skillsXD But she is so sweet!
      thank you!

    16. Hey, i don't have an Ada myself, but I have got a few different DC tinies which all came with their quirky posing!!! I also have noticed that the tight stringing which the DC dolls arrive with can lead to legs being a few millimetres out and so making posing impossible. Just now I am having trouble with my Katherine, I have measured all the leg parts and shoes, which are all the same size, but one side is strung tighter than the other and so it is making her leg slightly shorter ... Argh!!! It may be that either the back or front legs of your Ada are doing something similar??? I have seen another Ada here in the gallery that has four little boots on, and seems to stand and pose really well, maybe that could be an option??? Good luck with her, hopefully she will loosen up. Let' us know how it's going.

    17. Thank you for reply!!!!
Im her second owner, she arrived nicely strung, not so tight... I think her front legs are higher than back legs:/ but tiny shoes are lovely idea,i think i seen it at flickr. I will experiment more with her after new painting on antlers and blushing:) Its adorable creature:3
