Doll Chateau Tiny Discussion Part 2

Sep 17, 2014

    1. @kurogane, I'm truly excited to see your Fiona too! I adore the bunny sculpts and currently have a Luna on layaway with Mint on Card, so I'm prepared for a very long wait. It will be so wonderful to see some owner photos of Fiona once she arrives. Can't wait!:)

    2. @PoeticSoul thank you! And, yay! A Luna! She was the first one I was going to get, but Fiona ended up in the cart. I like them both, and am happy to see yours when she comes. Sigh, I ordered last August, so any month now!

    3. Eyhey all! I'm getting my own little kitty, Katherine in next week ( Finally, I have been wanting one for a LOONG now ) - and I was thinking that what size of clothes fits her the best? Same goes with eyes. I know that this has prob. been asked for like hundred billion times already, but yeah ;;

    4. Waiting on a secondhand Carol now, exciting.
I'm itching to get an outfit together but the measurements are all so bizarre i'm not sure where to start. Does anyone happen to have full measurements for Carol's legs, hips, waist and chest/torso? Or better yet, patterns for basics for the super strange DC body shapes. Heh.

    5. DC Fiona box opening. Meet Jubilee!

Sorry about the link. I have to use my pc to actually get the pictures to show. For some reason iPad just does not work. Anyway, my long awaited Fiona arrived today! She is so gorgeous! I can't wait to get working on her!

    6. Oh so it IS you on ebay then LOL - yay! :dance So glad my Carol is going to you - can't wait to see what you do with him/her! I shall oblige with measurements ...... OK got them (posting tomorrow BTW)
      neck - 3cm long x 3cm around
      shoulder to shoulder 2.5cm
      upper arm 5cm long x 3cm around
      chest 6cm
      neck to waist length 3.5cm
      waist 7cm
hips/upper thighs (slightly wider than hips) 16cm
waist to crotch front 5cm - waist to back crotch 6cm
      thigh to knee 7.5cm x 9cm around
calf 5cm long x 4cm around at widest point - ankle 3cm around

      :o she's amazing!!!! Congratulations!

    7. Yes, yes it is. I'm very obvious like that with my reused usernames hahaha.
      I couldn't resist, he's so dang cute.

Thank you so much for the measurements! I can try to sew something. Teeny tiny shirts are gonna be a real challenge, even monster high and bratz stuff is too big lol. sooo teeeny.

    8. :whee: I was going to cheat and make him a boob tube with separate, laced up sleeves/armlets, and a little capelet to hide the join - all nice simple shapes but I never got around to it *sigh* my dolls are all uber-neglected at the moment due to LIFE (good stuff though!)

    9. yeah he's gonna get breeches and a waistcoat IF I can figure out how to make one that small. Because he's so teensy probably just a rectangle of fabric with two arm holes lol.

Life booo, it ruins everything right?

    10. @purple_monkfish, oh congratulations on getting your hands on a Carol...good for you! I've always found them absolutely fascinating, but in the end I just couldn't justify adding one to my crew (don't you just hate it when that happens!):doh I'm going to really enjoy living vicariously through yours, so please do share her with us once she arrives.

Yay for Fiona!:D Thank you so much for sharing her! She's gorgeous, even blank. I just adore the bunny sculpts (I currently have a blank Luna on layaway with Mint on Card, but mine is in green skin.) I can't wait to see what you do with yours.

    11. it was very much an impulse buy.. I'm supposed to be saving up for another doll but I have very poor impulse control, especially when i'm waiting for a new dolly to arrive. I have a rs ming who's due at... some point this month maybe, hopefully, and the wait's killing me. This happens every time. About a month into the wait I end up buying an instant gratification dolly haha. I'm bad.

Oh, I had a go at drafting some patterns. The proportions make this very strange. I'll have to see if the patterns work and if they do i'll share them here. I'm not a great seamstress and I find thinking in 3 dimensions very difficult but I can usually sew pants at least lol.
But man this pattern looks strange. It's that big butt/hips lol.

    12. Thank you! I'm on my pc now, so I can post actual pictures! What a pain. I did do a box opening as Fiona is rare. Normally, doing a box opening is more than I care to do, but Jubilee is special.

    13. Wow those ears are just awesome.

    14. Oh, I forgot to congratulate you purple_monkfish on getting a Carol. That's another doll on my I like to have, but I have too many already list. I'm looking forward to seeing what you are sewing.

How ironic, I see so many pink eyes with sparkles when I'm not interested, but the moment I start wanting some, pink is not to be found! Many blue and purples out there, sigh. I will see if I can make a pair myself. I have the tiny glitter, crystals, and poly clay. This time a handmade pair of eyes might actually turn out for me. Anyway, it will be fun.

    15. making eyes is great fun. Never done it with clay, always used those plastic DIY kits but it's fun nevertheless. I made a bunch a while back for some off topic dolls. A great solution if you want something you can't otherwise find.
This time i've actually commissioned some eyes for my incoming rs though, because I don't have the stuff to do it on me, may as well outsource. He's getting goat eyes, it's gonna be awesome.

And man,i'm excited about Carol. This pattern looks bizarre and I won't know if it's right till i see his big ol' bubblebutt for myself. I've always sort of lusted after DC dolls from afar, gosh.. I wanted Xaveira so much. I pine for her, I ache for her... but my bank account was all "nope"
One day... one day I shall get a second hand one... and she'll be amazing.
      Ahem.

But yeah I love weird so DC are right up my alley for weird.
this'll be my first DC doll and my first YOSD. My others are all MSD and Resinsoul so quite a different beast.
I'm slightly intimidated by the wings, they look fragile. I might just be paranoid.

I get ya on the "too many" though. My crew is expanding rapidly and I only bought my first bjd in November last year (after yeaaaars of watching from afar)
But once i have my D&D crew put together I should slow down. I'll be saving up for much more expensive dolls after that and it'll be like 4 or 5 months before I can afford anything else on my wishlist heh.

Gosh i'm having fun with it though.

    16. he's here! and so cute omg.
I'll get pics soon. I was impatient and just wanted to play and get him dressed. He's stolen some clothes temporarily till I can sew him his outfit.
I think he needs some hot glue or something to get those knees to behave. Wire didn't do much, maybe need thicker stronger wire? has anyone had any luck getting their Carol to stand?

thank you sooo much Elve! He's gorgeous and wonderful and I love him.

    17. [IMG]

I really gotta gush over Elve's awesome idea for his faceup. There's no way i'd have known what to do with this guy if he'd been blank. That birdy face is kinda intimidating.
So i'm calling this a collaboration. Hah.

I kept most of it as it was, added some feathery details, blushed his antlers, made him some specs and finished his wings.

Man they're so thin, I keep thinking i'm gonna snap them.

And no, I can't get him to stand up. I tried looking at the strings but they're really tightly in there and he's under a lot of tension so hmmm. Thicker guaged wire I think. He just needs something to give those knees a bit of resistance.

I'll sew him clothes at some point. Right now he's stolen some stuff from my stash that doesn't really fit that well. That's a bratz Boy shirt and some My Scene pants that don't do up at the back hahah.

    18. Awww, so cute! I have no idea what wire to use. I'm used to tiny dolls and using real cotton pipe cleaners, the ones you get in the tobacco isle, not the craft store. They have thicker wire that is stiffer than craft pipe cleaners. Plus they have real undyed cotton. Carol might be able to use them, if the knee joint is small. I don't know, I don't have one!

    19. oh wowwwww and squeeeeeee :fangirl: Congratulations he is adorable the way you've styled him - he definitely needed glasses! I'm SO glad you have better faceup skills than I do too - I love the way you've finished his wings and face :love Ah so happy my birdy boy has found a good home :aheartbea And yes those legs are way too tight strung - I think if you hot glue suede his hip joints, then either wire or suede his knees? I know nothing about wiring though so no idea - but hot glue will improve his hips I'm sure - the resin's very smooth.

She certainly is special! Wow I love everything about her :fangirl:

    20. Hey credit where credit's due, your wig, eye and the use of yellow was something i'd have never thought of doing and I think MAKES him. It was your faceup that made me push over the edge and HAVE to press "buy it now" lol.
      I really love him.
Thank you so much for the opertunity to own such a unique doll. He was a total impulse buy on my part but I needed cheering up hahah. He's helped. Now I gotta find him somewhere to sit till i finish his outfit and work up the courage to do something about those legs.
