Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. Mmh, well I have been considering a couch for a while now :D. A modern style couch, it would be enough to fit my current and future doll. The price I would be willing to pay would depend on quality, but I would never go over the $150 mark.

    2. I don't think I would buy furniture for my doll. I would rather make it ;D

    3. I absolutely love doll furniture, from beds to sofas, cupboards to carpet & rugs, utensils to decorations, everything. I'm always spending most of my money on it, trying to piece together to create individual rooms for all of my dolls. It's a slow and painful process but I myself, find it very rewarding in the end. I think I even spend more money on doll furniture than the dolls themselves! Probably right now, the thing I want the most is for someone to make me a custom designed kitchen! It's hard to find fridges, stoves, sinks and all that, that are to doll scale.

    4. Ive got a few items for xavier's room. First was a bed which was actually a pets bed, its still not long enough to hold a SD13 boy without slightly bending his legs , but much better size wize then the standard doll beds around. I got a small chest of drawers , a clothes hanger + hangers , and a sofa. For everything cost me around $250 which is pretty good. Ive been looking for other items , but hard to find items for a sd13 doll if i had a smaller doll i would lean toward minitures and rements.

    5. I would LOVE to have more armchairs for my dolls to sit in but

      1. i can't buy them in my own country - they simply just don't exist here!

      2. even though i can get a wicker chair really cheap on ebay, it costs nearly 50 dollars to have shipped to me... that's just too expensive...so I wish I knew how to make my own armchairs for my dolls...

    6. I really do love all the furniture that they make for dolls, but it's all quite expensive and I have a space problem. (I just don't have an empy corner or so) And I second Baroness on the shipping costs.
So I always keep an eye out when I'm shopping but no luck until last week.
I found this amazing wood/iron bench on a flea market and it's the perfect size for my boys :D And it did only cost me like $14 usd. *happy*

    7. I have a dog bed that I converted into a doll bed. I'll take picture of it tomorrow, it even has a canopy.

    8. oh! I really wanted a chair for my doll. Like it's his little throne. But I don't think I have enough room for extra stuff like tables, and instruments. :sweat

    9. in my case, I think that furniture is something necessary for photographs ....I always try to make those kind of "diorama" photos so...well, I like doll furniture a lot!

    10. I'm not really keen on having doll furniture. I like my dolls to sit about my room, on my book case, my desk, my shelves and my chest of drawers. I like my dolls looking and behaving like dolls when they aren't out for a photo shoot. I have no desire to get them furniture and make them their own mini house or room.

    11. How does actually a doll behave like a doll?XD

    12. I like to have them sat around my room. I don't feel like they have to be acting out some mini scene or anything. I just like them sat around looking pretty.

A lot of people like to have their bjd set like mini people with life like props and such, as if the doll is almost behaving like a person would. But I am happy to have my dolls just sat or stood on display, much like collectors of porcelain dolls and such would.

I do enjoy making photo stories and such when they are out of the house, but when the dolls are in the house, they are just dolls.

    13. I really really want some furniture for my future three 60cm dolls, but sadly they are expensive. It's so hard to find decent doll furniture for my kids. Everything is either too small or too big , which is really starting to frustrate me.

I think I should just learn how to make it.

    14. I'd like to have places for them to sit, and there's a very sweet vanity and tub at Target that I'd like to get, mostly for photoshoots. My Pullips live on a set of shelves I refer to as "the apartments" and have wallpaper, furniture, everything... but I'm not interested in doing that for bigger dolls, it would take up too much space!

    15. Here's a good site, shippings fast, and they have good serves.

they also have food items and stuff. :D it's cool.

I'm also thinking of making a bed, or bedroom set and giving it way for free.
maybe have some contest, with pic's or something like that.
      they'd look kinda like this....

let me know what you guys think. :fangirl: i even have some stain for them, in red oak. I'd have to have them pay for some of the charges if it went over $20 to ship, but they could just send the money after they get the bed, or something, as long as i have the money to ship it then.

If i do start it, i post pic's along the way. :) in a new thread.

    16. I know what you mean. I don't think I'll be getting any furniture for my doll. I like how she looks right now: just hanging around the house. To me it looks more natural.

    17. I wish I had room for doll furniture in my room! Right now Lily has a bed made from her box at the foot of my bed. I'd love to make so much more for her but again, I have no room in my bedroom. *sigh*

    18. I have a small bench for my two MSD boys to since on and a chair for my SD to sit on.

I would love to get them some beds or a dresser.

    19. Every now and then I come across a piece of furniture sized for bjd but they're usually kind of expensive and frankly, most of it is ugly. I'm an architect by training and consequently, picky, lol. I'm thinking I'll have to make my own furniture. I've had a lot of experience with model making and making dollhouse sized furniture (1inch = 1 foot). Furniture making principles are pretty much the same, no matter what the scale. I'm thinking I'll just have to scale up from the minis or scale down from the real thing (like for a platform bed). I'd love to see someone doing some real quality work like some of the mini artisans. I'd like to think there are people out there doing this, and I just haven't found them yet.

    20. I just took a chair in my house, measured, and divided all the measurements by 4 (for MSD-sized). I did pick a rather simple chair though. :sweat
