It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. lol I went a bit further than furniture ^^;; I built a home out of a shelf :3 with the "wallpaper", flooring, the works, sans electrical (though working on it) and running water (don't need this ^^;;) But I got a couch, armchair, drawers, table, rug, ..etc :3

    2. I actually do furniture, aha. Me and my dad make it to sell, as well. Right now until it sells, my girls have a bunk bed, a canopy bed and a rocking chair (Mind you, we also make dressers, mirrors and a lot of other things). It's fun to have this stuff for them if you have the room and money. :D

    3. Doll furniture is lovely, but I live in a tiny little Japanese dorm room and I hardly have room for my doll, let alone furniture! Maybe I'll get some when I'm back in the UK and have the space for it again.

    4. I actually still have this furniture set that my grandma made me for my barbies. But I don't know if they're too small or not for my MSD but I have yet to wait and see. If so, I plan to actually make like a little personal bedroom scene with a backdrop and such. ^^

    5. For me, the most prohibitive thing about buying doll furniture is the cost of shipping/postage. The furniture is either bulky or heavy and that means it's expensive to have delivered. I do have some ironwork chairs and a wooden rocking chair I bought from shops near where I live. Unfortunately, the doll shop just up the road closed down and the only other shops I'm aware of are the other side of town, and I haven't visited them yet. Although, I did find some cute MSD sized chairs in The Reject Shop. Since I didn't have a doll on me at the time, I only bought one chair in case the size was off, but it was a perfect fit.

But even with only a couple of chairs, I still don't have the space to set up the dolls' living areas as I'd like. So the chairs are in one place, the dolls in another, and they usually only come together in photos.

    6. ^^ I usually find cute stuff at yard sales. A couple of weeks ago, I found the exact chair that is listed in the Volks usa website for a dollar. And the funny thing is, I didn't even notice it was until I was browsing the website a couple of days afterward. ^^;

    7. I have bought a chair in HK, and I'm going to make a little house for my doll. I call it "Alice Project" and I hope I can finish it.^^

    8. I have three pieces of furniture for my dolls. The first piece of furniture I bought came from Claire's. I bought one of their cell phone holders that was in the shape of a seat, and it fits my puki perfectly.

The second piece I got was from a friend. She and her dad made a bed sized perfectly for my littlefee, complete with a little mattress, a pillow, and a knitted cover.

The third piece I found at Hobby Lobby. I was walking around the store with my boyfriend and came across a cute wooden bench. It was only around $8, so I snatched it up. Luckily it fits my two msd's perfectly!

Whenever I go out shopping, I always keep an eye out for something that could be a good fit for my bjd's. The possibilities are endless!

    9. I have nearly an entire home for my dolls. Most of the furniture I've bought at antique or thrift stores. Jewelery boxes can sometimes make AMAZING dressers and/or closets for MSDs. I also have American Girl (and similar) furniture from either my childhood or various doll or chirstmas shows. I try not to spend over 30 dollars for any particular piece. :3

    10. I would like a nice simple chair for my BJD to sit in. Something to stick on my desk that doesn't take up too much space. I do actually have plenty of room to make a room on my floor or on bookshelves but I don't expect I will. I don't like clutter or having too many items, but more importantly - I don't engange in the kind of photoshoots that would make a large amount of doll furniture a reasonable investment. If I get more than one BJD again, perhaps I will consider a couch or something as well though.

    11. i plan on making my boy a full house plus all the furnishings. so i would say i am someone who likes the idea of doll furniture!

    12. Furniture is great to have for dolls--to sit on for photos or just to sit on! They are great props.

I was lucky to get a hold of some Kingstate chairs and couches, 2 of each, that were discounted and sold at Ross stores for around $15 and $20, that are perfect for SD and some MSD sizes. Those prices made me a bit less likely to pay more ordinary prices, I'm afraid. But I guess I might spend on something that I really liked.

I don't feel the need to have a whole bedroom or kitchen or whatever for my dolls. The dolls themselves already take up a lot of space. But the couches and chairs are nice to have them just lounging about in.

    13. I bought a little wirechair and bench, because I want my dolls to sit on proper furniture, rather than my shelf. I'd love to buy a bed, but I wouldn't have any room to put it!

    14. Saving up for a couch and some chairs for my boys is on my to-do list, so that they can have some where to sit other then on top of the box one of them came in, or the head containers. Because I have heads in clear boxes, i should get that taken care of...

    15. I'd love to get my hands on some great furniture, but I can never find any. Maybe I should make some.

    16. One source for sofas may be also sofas actually made for animals - i.d. dogs and cats. Sometimes these are really very nice, but the seating area tends to be a bit longer and lower than necessary for dolls.

The really nice ones, made of faux leather in a modern style, are unfortunatley seldom affordable. But they exist.

    17. I have a sofa that is MSD sized and a rocking chair that's SD sized.
But I'd love to have more SD furniture, that doesn't wobble. (My MSDs are children, so the furniture has to look big for them)
Sadly a sofa won't fit into my glass cabinet. But I'd love to find a few nice chairs.
Though I don't know where to find them.

    18. Although the shipping for SD+ sized couches may be absolute murder, I have found them to be an excellent investment. I've already spent yea bucks on the dolls & their lovely clothes and shoes, so I don't want them to just look like they've been plonked down temporarily. I'm displaying them - I want these guys to look comfortable! The end result is so comfortable that my doll collection always looks like a party in progress that's way more interesting than the parties I always seem to get invited to.

Volks/ VolksUSA and Dollmore have the best furniture I've found. Dollmore's noticeably cheaper than Volks, and the quality is fine, but Volks's design/materials/quality are absolutely delicious. Last time I went on a sofa-binge, it was to take advantage of Dollmore's "free shipping with purchase of X-hundred dollars" holiday offer... It's very easy to rack up X-hundred bucks when you buy a sofa, so bide your time and wait for those events.

I also have another couple excellent chairs & couches I found at Ross for $15 sometime back in 2005 or 2006-- but Ross hasn't carried such things ever since, have they? It was like this one magical freaky year you could get perfect 1:3 or 1:4 doll furniture for bargain-store prices. 1:3 couches that came with pillows (I have a purple one & a leopard-print chaise longue) and 1:4 jewelry boxes that were little upholstered armchairs (again I scored a purple one & a leopard-print one xD).

This one exists at Volks! Buttery soft black pleather, sorta danish-modern style. No, it was not cheap. But it was well worth saving up for.

    19. I've been combing the forum. I've seen Doll Peddler, Doll Market, VOLKs USA, Dollzone, American Girl etc but can't seem to find anything I'm looking for. Alot of the stuff is either sold out, too expensive or, too small. I'm really interested in something of a Victorian kind of feel. (The one that is ideal is on Volks USA for $250. I don't want to pay that much.) I mainly want furniture for my doll photoshoots. Dollmore has some good stuff but I'm not really into fainting couches or modern couches. Any recs would be great. Thank You
