It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. i have thought about it and have never brought anything yet. Im thinking about buying my boy a little bed or something

    2. So far I've bought Puki furniture off eBay and found some great finds locally at second hand stores. I snagged a super cute wicker chair (no cushion) for a dollar that fits Yo-SD and MSD, and then more recently a white Yo-SD/MSD rocking chair for 2 dollars. Eventually I'd like to get an SD leather chair and/or couch. As cool as "doll rooms" are - I wouldn't bother getting that much furniture for anything larger than a Pukifee. Just takes up too much space for me and I really hate clutter. Not to mention that could be very expensive if you buy via the internet primarily.

Oh yeah! I did make a floral MSD couch once out of cardboard. All thanks to a DoA tutorial. :) Very fun and cheap - something I'd probably consider trying again for future furniture needs for my SD.

    3. I hang around with 18" play doll groups and they build doll houses for them. I have a small book case with roof I redecorate into rooms and an attic for the tiny. They also have another dedicated bookcase for a kitchen, living room, play room, and a back yard. My SD dolls also have a room for them but I only have chairs in there and a dresser. The MSD shares the rooms with the 18" play dolls.
I buy furniture from 2nd hand store as well as from online. Local thriftstores are great places for doll furniture. There are tons of furniture made for the 18" dolls that fit the MSD line perfectly.

Actually... I'm planning to build a house/rooms for my boy. Currently planned/in planning: Two bedrooms, a kitchen/living room combo and a bathroom, as well as some 'surrounding area'/garden stuff.
It's in planning thought and not yet in the making.

I have purchased some stuff and dragged stuff form the basement upstairs for my planned trio (only one ordered and currently waiting for him at this point) and started building a bed for him.
Once he's here, I'll use him to go 'properly' raiding flea markets and thriftstores and stuff like that.
Those are my plans at this point anyway.

A fourth boy has announced his interest to be mine, but he wants a small witch house/hut/room all to himself already (greedy one). We'll see...
For now my main focus is to get my plans for my trio done.

    5. Michaels Crafts has lots of items that can be used by MDS sized dolls. Plant stands that are chairs and many more items abound if you use your imagination. There are even small brown paper covered books for your dolls in the wooden item section. The idea is to shop creatively. Any store, even Pier 1 has items that can be used for your dolly set up. I found a two wheel bike for my MSD in the decorations shelves. You just have to look around. And yes, the American Girl collections has lots to choose from as well. Good luck shopping.

    6. My dolls each have their own "room". Our extra bedroom has been converted into a doll room and the back wall is covered with very deep shelving with partitions for the doll room. Each has a bed, and they range from a pillow with a blanket to a custom made doll bed. Most have a night stand or closet that were jewelry boxes or storage containers. A couple have desks (one was a shelf/storage thingy to go over a sink, the other is by American Girl), one has a bookcase (designer shelf from a home decor store), we have a bathroom and kitchen. I go all out, I can't handle sticking them in a box or on a regular shelf.

    7. I only have SD sized dolls, so it's hard to find furniture to buy for them. So I've started making my own. I use pine and aspen, because they're inexpensive and come in a variety of sizes but still good quality and they stain nicely. I also plan to eventually do commissions and I understand that there are those of us in this hobby whose wallets sometimes weep. Lol. So that's a good way to cut costs for you and potential buyers without sacrificing quality. Aspen is also a very pliable wood, so if you have to do any steaming and bending to get those nice curved edges, aspen is the way to go! And if you don't already have the tools you need, you can cut start-up costs by requesting some of them as birthday/other holiday gifts. :)

    8. I want to make a little apartment for my girl. I'm looking for a bed

    9. I have chairs bought from Ross when they had them. I got a bench from Hobby Lobby that fits my SDs perfectly. Was on sale too! I have 5 sitting on a box like it's a couch.

    10. I'd really like a chair or bench for my little guys, but for some reason it's the only accessory I haven't dared to buy yet. There are people on Etsy these days who do amazing things. There is also a company called Woodenface who make what looks like amazing 1:6 chairs and desks... but too rich for my blood. Which doesn't make sense, as I bought a parka for my Yo at a higher price than I would spend on one for myself. :/

    11. Yep yep! Mine has a little rocking chair, a wooden chair, a bench, and a little armoir. And since it's nearly Christmas, he even has a little Christmas tree, complete with lights. :) They're just things that I've found around; I shop around in antique stores whenever I have the chance. They often have small, doll-sized furniture for sale at MUCH lower prices than the specialty BJD furniture online.
But I have seen a few nice pieces of furniture from dollmore: http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step0.php?b_code=B20071002024805&c_code=C20071002025423

    12. I had tons of stuff (chairs, props, etc) before I even THOUGHT about BJDs - I had a couple porcelain dolls, but basically I've always loved little stuff :D
Now I can use it for props for photo stories w/the dolls - so psyched!

    13. I love the idea of seeing new purposes for found objects in the doll world, and creating doll props. Good luck with your endeavors. I want to make some too. I took a stage craft class in college, and theater was my whole focus in high school. [Long time ago] -- But I think making sets for them would be a blast. I just haven't had time yet.

    14. I love furniture for my gang but have trouble finding it in the right scale - My SD gang are children, not adults, so 1/3 scale furniture (which assumes a 60cm/24in doll is the scale equivalent of about 6ft tall) is too small since my 60cm/24inch dolls are closer to the scale equivalent of 4ft tall so I need half scale rather than 1/3 scale furniture for them to look like children using adult size furniture.

I have a couple of chairs and an antique doll bed that are the right scale, but they're not easy to find.

    15. I have a few small items. My mother found me a nice simple black chair at a gift store and sent it to me for my birthday. It's just about SD sized and has nice proportions to match. It has a nice rustic look to it.

My boyfriend and I want to get beds or at least a nice couch for our incoming girls but we're having a hard time finding something we're happy with. I'm really picky about scale and find even a lot of furniture made for BJDs still looks a bit off. And since the prices do tend to be a bit high, I can't bring myself to pay for something I'm not really satisfied with.

I love love love seeing some of the items members here have made. They're fantastic. They really inspire me to try my hand at making some for myself.

    16. I would love to buy my doll a simple little chair to sit in--so she's not sitting on the "floor" of my desk and shelves all the time!

    17. I was lucky enough to find some hand-made items for my dolls. I found a couch in Germany that's just about the right size and fits 3 dolls, and then here at a local market I found a child's "time-out stool" with a heartshaped back that will make a good loveseat. :) Just I think I'll need to either cover it or sew a cushion for it, as I'm not sure how vinyl or resin would react with it's varnish.

    18. I am happy that my husband is wood-worker and makes ANYthing I need. He is a genius at wood carving, turning and the dremmel.

    19. Actually.... I don't really bother with online sites... personally, I don't really like what's available. I've resorted to Antique Malls and 2nd-hand stores locally. I've actually gotten some nice things for them at decent prices. Like I found a reupholstered chaise lounge seat for $20, and it fits my DOT. Then found another chair that also fits SD at a 2nd-hand bookstore for about $3 and in good condition.

So it really depends on if you want to spend hours going through aisle and aisle of Antique inventory, but it beats international shipping, at least for me :3

    20. My sister Actually Got Stuck In An Interior Design Class This Year And Had To Make A Piece Of Furniture And Make A Chair, Which I Immediately Claimed As My Doll's. Haha. So He Had A Zebra Striped Chair Now :D
