Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. I have chairs for EIDs and a stroller that works with them from the Ashton's collection - Bradford Exchange whatever they call it. And a few BID accessories such as dogs.

    2. @Osaka AG furniture works for MSDs pretty perfectly. Yo-SDs would probably be too small for the furniture, but they look like children, so the scale would probably be OK. Do you want pictures of AG furniture and MSDs???

Though furniture takes up a lot of space, I really love it for my dolls. Luckily, I had lots of American Girl dolls when I was younger, so I'm set on furniture. I definitely like making sure my doll has something to sit on or sleep in. I love using furniture for pictures. You can cover couches and chairs with sheets and make totally different looking things every time, so its not that 'same old red couch' every time.

I have: a bunk bed and ladder, a fold out trundle bed, a brass/gold bed, a fold out futon/chair/couch combo, a beach chair, a white table with 4 chairs, 4 green gardenish/teaparty chairs, a sleigh, a bench, a bathtub, a vanity set, and a horse (yes I count a horse as furniture). Edit: and one of those chairs that you can clip onto the side of a table so you can 'eat' with your doll.

    3. That's a nice collection.

However, IMO, if you count the horse as furniture, you have to add your doll(s) to that list of furniture as well.

    4. Nah, I don't think so. I don't count the horse as part of my doll collection. It's something my doll sits on. My definition of furniture.

    5. Okay, no need to discuss this matter.

My sight is just very different here, and I wanted to point this out.

    6. I buy things for my two, but I can't stand the prices online so I prefer to just find things in hobby stores that fit.

    7. I like doll furniture! It's so detailed and accurate! I often look at the different beds and chairs in many doll sites, but do not intend to order) Moreover, in our country there are craftsmen who are doing an amazing furniture with his own hands)
So I have plenty to choose from)

    8. I look at AG stuff for my 50cm girl she works well with those but other furniture I find at craft or thrift stores and Antique places. But I do tend to wish I could see better to be more physically creative with my dolls furniture. Like hand crafting, sewing, making beds and chairs and tables and such. I mean I do have a few things left over from my American Girl days and often buy things from the store in terms of Accessories or easily modified outfits. I just can't see well enough to do most of the creative things other than whip out my credit card and buy it. But I usually have to have someone with me to help me with scaling.

    9. I wasn't really planning on buying any until later, but I was in this botique-like place and found this decorative bench. I didn't have August with me, so I took a chance that it would be the right size. Turns out it was PERFECT.
Best part is I didn't have to spend fifty dollars on it like some doll sites ask for for furniture. I got it for about 9 and it's just perfect.
Other than that, I don't think I'll be buying any furniture in the near future. I might try to make some if I have the materials, but I think I'm good for a while.
      Here's a picture:

    10. Hazuki and Rini will be sharing a Ikea doll bed that l bought off of ebay. I love finding stuff for them.

    11. i bought Kloey a loft bed i found at toys r us few months ago so now she lives on top of my bookshelf :P i'd like to get her a closet for all her clothes but i have no where to put it :(

    12. I've recently gotten more into the furniture idea and plan on making some out of old things (and stalking the crafting threads!)

    13. I've made a couch for my BJDs and bought wicker chairs for my MSD boys. I've seen pictures of other dollies on their beds and I would like to get a bed for mine, just for photoshoots because I don't have any room to display it.

    14. I love making furniture for my dolls. I've made Chaeri a bed, a table and several chairs. Her bed is right next to my own and that's where she is at night.

    15. I love doll furniture (just wish it didn't take up so much room to display >_<). Most of what I have is best for MSD/SD. Of the more mass produced stuff I have a dark wood AG style tea table set (two padded chairs & a round table), a more casual white wood tea table set (two unpadded chairs & a round table) by Our Generation (I think), a wooden bed from Ikea, and an unfinished wood Yo-sized Adirondack chair from a craft store. I also have a few more unique things I picked up in the local antique store: a burgandy brocade armchair, a curved-glass breakfront with shelves, and two very different Yo-sized beds (a dark stained wood single & a green painted two-bunk bed). I also bought a nice wrought iron dog bowl holder shaped like a bench that I found in a discount store and made a cushion for it. It seats up to three SD, which is great. And oh yeah! Also a painted wooden Yo-sized carousel horse I got on eBay. <3

Unfortunately I have more doll furniture than space to display it, so most of this stuff is just stored away until needed. The bench, a couple of chairs, the smaller Yo bed, and the breakfront are the only pieces in constant use. I hope someday I'll be able to have a "dolly room" where I can display & enjoy all the furniture at once. Especially since I'm always keeping my eyes open for more. XD

    16. I have a cheapie doll bed Feya seldom uses, and I made a chair for her out of bamboo and colored sewing thread. She's sitting in it right now. I also have a wooden vanity with a rotating mirror. The only problem is, it's yoSD sized, and therefore rather small for Feya. I love dollie furniture; it's so small and cute, yet it can be very ornate and detailed, and made with some seriously meticulous craftsmanship. I don't really have optimal space for storing these things, so they're sort of scattered all over the place. I'd really love a cute little loveseat, and a proportionate, not cheapie bed. And some money to buy it with and space to put it all in. (;

    17. When I bought my boy, one of my first considerations was a space for him. I wound up purchasing a sofa from a user here. USPS handled the package roughly and snapped the legs off... but its still a nice place for him to sit. I knew when I got him though that I wanted at least one bit of furniture for him to chill out on, you know? C:

    18. When I started getting into Tonner dolls, which are adjacent in height/proportion to MSD's, I started buying furniture. I usually buy AG scale stuff off ebay, I have a chaise lounge and matching wingback chair for them and it fits all my SD's perfectly 8D. But I've also made a couple couches, and jewelry box chairs work really well too. Cardboard is your friend!

    19. I have some old American Girl furniture that I'm probably going to use (including a white horse that might work) once I get my doll. Making furniture is also another good option that I will probably do, as is shopping around in such places as Hobby Lobby.

    20. My latest find was a msd or smaller size doll bath tub from Bath & Body Works. It was a container used to hold lotions .
