Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. here they are with the first desk made from blocky 5x7 picture frames and a small ikea cutting board, glued together. i seriously lack woodworking skills so this is about the limit of my abilities right now ;) but i like the way it came out

    2. Doll furniture is an absolutely delightful thing to have, especially for photos. I've never spent very much on them, as I mostly get miniatures from thrift/antique stores. :)

    3. i build 1/3 couches and chairs for my doll family. Its not to hard with foam, cardboard and some hot glue.

    4. thats a great chair susan. i have one of those and a couch on my to do list, when i finish up the office stuff

    5. I should definitely try to make a couch. All William has is a bed which I thankfully got for free from one of my mom's friends whose daughter grew out of American Dolls. I am also waiting for a bar stool that I got from ebay.

I am going to try thrift store and the like. Hopefully I'll get lucky!

    6. What is your opinion of the currently available doll furniture?

Volks make beautiful chairs and sofas and so does Laurel Crown Furniture. For MSD furniture, I find AG the go to, though, I wish they weren't made of plastic.

What do you wish was available?

Hmm...I think the only things I can't find are bedroom furniture for SD sized dolls. I really wish I could find those.

What prices do you really think are 'affordable'?

Anything under $600 is affordable. I'd go highly on certain items, though. Salesmen samples can get pretty high up there.

And finally, have you ever thought of setting your doll up with traditional-styled Japanese furniture?

Not at all...I like victorian styled furniture.

    7. What is your opinion of the currently available doll furniture?ND
I get most of mine from thrift/antique stores - factory samples :D ALSO pet furniture!

What do you wish was av
      ailable?
1/3 size folding chairs at no more than folding chair prices - ~sigh~ 1/3 size motorcycle.

What prices do you really think are 'affordable'?
Depends on the item. Some stuff is just wayyy too expensive. I won't pay more for 1/3 size furniture than for MY size stuff...But I've paid $100 for a catbed (ie doll bed)

And finally, have you ever thought of setting your doll up with traditional-styled Japanese furniture?
Certainly - one of my doll families is Japanese

    8. I have the hardest time finding the right furniture for my BJDs, since all of mine are 60cm+ :XD: I end up buying like mini coffee table for couch and display stands for chairs, but not there yet, i found some round pillows that would make a great bed, it going to be a slow process, since i want more of traditional japanese/chinese feel to it.

    9. I'm not sure I have the desire for furniture yet. I know I really want props/weapons and gadgets, but I'm not sure about furniture. Tho, it would make for more diverse pictures.

    10. Well I just ordered furniture from an Etsy store that does custom American girl furniture ^.^ I asked if she could make the furniture two inches taller because I always feel ag furniture is too short since ag legs don't bend. I don't think the price was to bad considering its handmade custom work, but it is pricey. If anyone wants to check the store out its called QueenEmmaDesigns, nice shop just ask for a custom and I'm sure they'll help. I'm getting this, this, and this, custom made for a msd.:)

    11. I would definitely love to get some chairs or a bench for them but I am having a very difficult time finding anything locally. I guess I need to start looking online.

    12. I have a bed inside a "dollhouse", a table, and a pink chair for my boy ^^

    13. I build my own furniture since it's hard to get scale. The american girl stuff just looks super weird with the MSD scale. Ebay is great place to get stuff too

    14. I'm planning on making a full mad house for my dolls. Making it out of sturdy materials. One room at a time. More like a small apartment. Using plywood and card stock mostly. I think furniture in regular sized then divide by 1/4 or something is how it goes. I'll just have to test it out.

    15. I haven't made any furniture yet, but my fiancé and I were discussing this yesterday and he wants to help me make scaled sets and furniture for my dolls. Since all of my dolls are roughly the same size, it would be easy to make furniture that all of my dolls can share. In my future home, I think I will have them on shelves sitting on couches and chairs. Susan2453, that chair looks awesome :D

    16. Thanks AmberLeigh, I have a couple of couches too. Once you do a few it's fairly easy to increase or decrease the width to make chairs and loveseats and full couches.

    17. I have a few pieces of doll furniture. I found a couch in one op shop and two wicker chairs in another. I also have one of the little chairs from Daiso and at one point I attempted to make a couch. That was a couple of year ago though, so it wouldn't hurt to try again. I actually bought a very cute bean bag from a doll market locally that one of my SD girls sits in. I'm thinking about making some of those for my other dolls because they're very cute and don't seem too hard to make! I really do like the ideal of furniture for dolls but I don't really have enough shelf space to get much more. And I'd probably be okay spending a little bit on a couch or bed, but probably not much over $100 unless it was exceptional quality.

    18. I made my girl a bed out of her box, but that is the extent of her furniture.

    19. I buy a lot of furniture on Etsy, Ebay and Facebook . For me it is easy to find, because i only have the small dolls like Lati and Aquariusdolls 16 cm. I make now a nice dollhouse for them
