Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. I love the concept of doll furniture. When I started I had high ideas of creating a furnished space for my dolls but soon found out not only is it difficult to find the proper scale for 60cm-70cm dolls that isn't pink, plastic or made for baby doll types of similar size - it just takes up too much room especially since I have a few 1/3 scale dolls. I dream of contracting a full 1/3 scale diorama for my dolls but it would just take up too much space. Maybe one day….

That said - I've moved my furniture love to 1/6 scale and delighted to find many artists who specialize in this size with exacting detail. I'm so fortunate to be working with an artist who's constucting a 1/6 apartment building and another who's designing furniture for one of the floors. It's basically broken all my dolly spending for the year but will be so worth it to furnish over time and display my 1/6 scale mature dolls & action figures.

    2. Awesome setting... But I will admit it soon as I saw the doll with the antlers I thought of Black Butler and the quote: "I am simply one Hell of a Deer."

For those looking for 1/4th scale furniture, check pottery stores or search ebay, planters can often look like furniture, the benches I photograph my dolls in as well as their funky orange chair, are both planters, the benches I made a cover and the chair was fine as it was.

There's also for the tinies Fairy Garden furniture which is just a joy to shop for.... I bought a table and chair set for my tiny house that was marked Fairy Garden furniture and it was just what I needed for my two tinies.

    3. i have the same problem with my 1/4 and 1/6th dolls so i tend to just collect the furniture in large rubbermaid tubs and set up the spaces for photos and then take them down again. the only ones for whom i think i might have room to make a more permanent display are my 1/12th tinies.

you'll have to post pictures of that when it is done! either a gallery thread or on one of the dollhouse/homes for tinies threads so we can see all the details.

the craze for fairy gardening is certainly making it easier to find miniature furniture. we have no miniature stores locally but there were at least 3 gardening &/or gift stores within 10 minutes of me that were selling the fairy gardening stuff this year!

    4. U.U I would love to have furniture for my BJD, but I don´t have enough space to keep them.

    5. I have a couple chairs, but I do really want some furniture, but not just that, I want a diorama, and a nice space for my dolls, so I can take photos whenever I want, instead when the day is nice, the dolly stuff already took my house, what's a little more space anyway xD

    6. As most of my dolls are SDs or higher it's very hard to find a furniture for them in a certain styles. So I ended up making it by myself.

    8. I would love to get furinture like that, but no on in freaking rogers AR seem to make them >.>

    9. auntbear, thank you!

Lysian, thank you! It's really very hard to find the doll furniture locally, unfortunately(( That's why I made my piece much less massive, to reduce its weight for the sake of cutting the postage costs...

kmankids, Volks has some great furniture, indeed.

    10. I love doll furniture so much~ >w< I've bought a few couches and chairs, but I really hope to make a bigger living place for them soon~

    11. I bought 3 chairs from volks webshop. I like the classical furnitures.

    12. Guys, How about furniture for Ipleouse EID size, any idea where to get it?

    13. nice idea of making them!! its just like miniature!! i am in the progress making food miniatures such as sundae, cakes, and etc for my doll photo sections! and i will sometimes find them chairs and table which actually other people make it for other usage! such as a decoration chair which use to put mobile phone. and it will be suitable for my 1/6 doll!

    14. I went to the thrift stores to find some antique wooden shelfs or chairs for my dolls. I am planning to make her a bed from scratch but I need a space to put it... I see people usually have a doll house setting but I don't have the room for it :...(

    15. I got a bed on ebay that is long enough for a 67cm guy. I looked under pet beds.

    16. I have little shelves on my bed headboard, and two are finished with little doll furniture. I get my furniture from yard sales and thrift stores. It is incredibly easy to find furniture that fits Sora, for she's 1/6. A lot of her stuff is Barbie stuff :XD:

    17. I have a chair that opens up in the base to a compartment I can keep some of my dolls things in. my msd doll sits on my SD dolls lap and they both fit in the chair perfectly like that. I would love to get a bed for them but I lack the funds right now.

    18. there were diy kit so you can just glue it and paint it yourself. i bought chair ,desk and closet set from china and it looks pretty fancy even if it was without painting.

    19. I have 2 different chairs that can hold at least 2 dolls each and my friend got me bunk bed for my 1/4s when ever she can ship it.

    20. My mom gave me a old wooden table and chair she use to sit small decorative plush bears/dogs on. It's a perfect size for my MSD ^^ Other than that he has a sleeping bag, about 5 pillows, and a small dresser that use to be my jewelry box when I was like 12.

I plan on buying him a our generation doll bed (http://www.target.com/p/our-generat...Slot=medium_1_2&term=our+generation+furniture) at some point, maybe some of the other furniture pieces they have once I get another doll.

I love looking around for doll sized furniture or accessories, it's fun and it's always like I've found a little treasure when I can scoop one up at a resale shop or on clearance.
