1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. Yessss I love doll furniture. Right now all I have for my big dolls is a couch from DollMarket. They have great discounts there, and the couch is awesome quality.
I also have a skeleton of a house thing that my mom built for my American Girl dolls long ago. We're planning to resurrect it, decorate it and make it a home for my BJDs. I only have MSDs right now so it'll fit them. When I get SDs they'll have to sit xD

    2. I made a doll closet earlier today out of 5 pieces of scrap wood, 1 dowel and some glue. I already had all those little doll hangers for their clothes which i got from eBay. I had wanted one for awhile but all the ones i kept finding online were armoire style and over 50 dollars so i ended up just making a simple one which of course ill have to paint and seal once i decide a color.

    3. I want a chair for Brahm, and perhaps a tea set or stuffed bear.

    4. I dont know...personally i like BJD furnitures and the little cute details like they are in their house...but i think its a waste of money. Personally i use my imagination to create something like a little room for them without buying something extra.

    5. Unfortunately, imaginary things don't usually photograph well ;)

      Tom and Leliana's Bedroom

I made the floor, the rug, all the bedding, and Miranda's comic book and stuffed pig. The bureau is actually my jewelry box and the wallpaper is a vintage sari I picked up for next to nothing

    6. i agree with you @Girrl i love creating sets in miniature that look real, for me it's half the fun they don't half to be expensive. i made all the furnishings in this picture either from scratch or out of inexpensive things fixed up to look real

same with this one. everything is either self made or from inexpensive materials, except the lamp and the computer, and they weren't meant to be bjd stuff so i found them pretty cheap

you can spend a lot, and there are some pricier pieces by artists that i would love to get someday, but you don't have to.

however if you never take pictures, your imagination could be sufficient.

    7. I would love to get a leather armchair for my doll but so far the ones I liked are $300 and up. It just doesn't feel right to spend so much money on a tiny chair.

    8. I adore dioramas that some people've made. I think it would be awesome to build a single room diorama or even one of those shelf houses, if I ever have the time/money/space. I have some furniture for my 1/6 dolls, but other than that I don't have much room for furniture. Darn.

    9. I'd really like to find some sort of chair or couch for my dolls, but haven't had any luck finding anything nice that suited my price range. I'm a little picky when it comes to my dolls.

    10. none of my sets are permanent. the walls are foamcore propped up on boxes, the floor my table or counter. in between photo sessions all my furniture resides in a rubbermaid tote, and the "props" in another. i just pick out what i need each time i set up. i would love to have something more permanent but don't really have the space and wouldn't be able to photograph if i did. the best lighting is in the kitchen and i think my familly would object if i turned our table into a permanent set

    11. I do look for stuff in second hand stores, and have found a couple of items that I use with my dolls. I haven't bought anything new yet, mostly because I think the prices are to high, and there is not many items available to buy. I must admit that I'm a very detail oriented person, so everything I like is typically fine workmanship, vintage stuff, with lot's of details and so on - that could also explain why I think it's expencive ;)

    12. My sets aren't permanent either, the walls fold flat for storage and all my props go into stacking drawers. Even the fireplace I made comes apart into 3 pieces for easy storage. The only big space eaters are the couches/chair(s) but my dolls hang out on those so not too much extra space needed ;)

    13. I absolutely love some of the doll chairs that are for sale on etsy, and I'm trying to budget getting a couple of the chairs for posing my sd boys in and photographing them :D

    14. I always find 1/6 doll furniture but never for bigger sizes except a few things on Dollmore. Anyways if anyone is looking for beds and couches for bigger BJDs you can always get dog or cat beds. They do have some that really look like a real bed or a couch and they are 1/3 sized or even bigger and usually cheaper than BJD furniture :)

    15. I'm considering it. Mainly for photo shoots, but also... it's just really cute! xD

    16. We sometimes find chairs and other items, in thrift stores. It's always hit or miss, but sometimes, you hit the jackpot. We have a little rocking chair, that fits MSD sized dolls perfectly.

    17. This is an example of 'hitting the jackpot LOL All 4 were found at a doll/toy show where I live and all four together cost less than 100 CAD XD
First is Drake in the rose chair... he is Iplehouse's new HID man (75 cm)

This group shot shows Bonnie by the red seat chair and my twins are in a 'ladder back chair' and a 2 person metal and wicker seat. These girls are nYID size

    18. I both make and buy a lot of furniture props. I really love making things like that and I adore dioramas! My main problem is diversity in larger scale furniture. SO much of it looks the same and I don't particularly care for Victorian furniture and I feel like that really limits what I can in larger scales.
I'm hoping to launch my own furniture line some day but that's probably a long way off.

    19. I lost all my real furniture for my resin dolls when I moved house-- the house I was leaving was literally falling apart as we moved out, and I just couldn't pack everything safely in time. So now I get to start all over with building an environment for my guys... Sad that their wicker daybed/sofa was so delicate/breakable, and that I just plain couldn't find my old AG stuff for the life of me (might have lost it in a previous move, honestly, I don't remember having it since I was a kid), but now I can look for things that suit their style better. I saved the really important things, just not furniture. So I'm back on the hunt and ready to scour thrift shops.

But, now that I have moved, even if I have to start over with furniture, I do have more space to set up a room for them, which is a tradeoff I'm entirely cool with.

Building furniture is probably not a skill I'll develop, but I could probably do some minor dolly reupholstery, or at least cushion-making to spruce something up.

    20. I haven't made furniture yet, I don't know if I ever will or not. But I've purchased a chair that was supposed to be a plant pot stand and spray painted it and an iron candle holder that I also painted and made that a table. I made those into a little tea time outdoor set for my doll :) I'm always on the lookout for doll size furniture whenever I go to thrift stores too
