Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. I would definitely like to buy my dolls nice chairs/ sofas. Unfortunately, most of the really nice ones go for over 100$, and I don't have the money to spend on this kind of things. I would buy if it was around 50-60$ or so.

    2. I love getting furniture and accessories for my doll. The problem is that with shipping even relatively cheap things can end up way too expensive.

Ideally I'd be willing to spend 50-60 dollars on a bed or sofa. Tops $100 if I really liked the style. Currently I'm hunting for both, so far no luck. I wish Iplehouse would start selling some more pieces of furniture. Getting things for a DOT is challenging, occasionally.

    3. I fear getting anything from American Girl. That stuff is insanely expensive, some almost to the point of just getting him a REGULAR bed and sharing it with him.... XD

And if I can't get my family to make me some, I am definately shopping around. I alrready have a plan to make a small room for him.

    4. I plan to buy a chair from a local ratten-weaving shop. It's a lovely children chair and cost around 5-6$. Almost furniture in eBay are also nice but shipping cost is killing me. ^_^;

    5. If I ever get my own room, I'll probably start looking for doll furniture for Zi and the rest to use when I get them :3 I see doll stuff at the thrift store here all the time, but since I have no where to put it, I never buy anything (hell, I'm having a hard time figuring out where I can put my laptop when I'm not using it, it's that bad...)

    6. My guys have some set-pieces and sofas and such... Things sized for 1/3 scale dolls. Issun (my Banji) was kind'a lost, though. None of it really fit him.

Yesterday I went into Hobby Lobby with BSR and we bought him some things of his own. It's slightly-larger-than-standard doll house furniture. 'Very cute, and it fits his tiny size perfectly. ^_^

    7. there is a great seller on ebay named gemblaise that sells AG and MY Twinn beds (for MSD and SD respectively) and there are a TON of cheap options. They are nice quality too. I heart gemblaise's beds. :) They can also be stacked like bunk beds for those short on space.

My girl, (as yet unarrived) has a ton of crap already including a bed, chair, lava lamp and a bunch of other stuff. :) Yay for miniature furniture!!!

    8. I want get a room for my dolls, but don´t know where can buy furniture with perfect size for SD.

    9. I started planning on building my dolls a room ever since I ordered my first doll, but I'm already so broke over purchasing the dolls and already saving up for the next two, that I won't be paying top dollar on furniture in a while, maybe never since I also have an expensive taste in doll clothing! Reasonably priced furniture usually means less attention to detail or the maker is selling way below what it should cost for them to make a living. I think I could spend a lot of money on it eventually, if I ever feel I have enough dolls (which is not likely to happen soon).

Anyway, good luck with making your furniture! I'm sure there will be people who can afford it, unlike me!

    10. I don't have enough space to get much furniture, but he has a couch, chair and a teaset I found at the dollar store that is doll sized.

    11. I'm making Lun'Mara a room, sadly I have to put it on top of my entertainment center (no space for it and I have cats)

I'm in the mid-west so no Ross:( I tried to find a doll scene case so Lun'Mara wouldn't get dirty, but also they come as big as a baskitball and to get a custom one...*shivers* I don't even want to imagen the price.

So I looked at Hobby Town USA, nothing, Michaels, kind of but not what I was looking for. Then I checked Hobby Lobby, bingo! A whicker chair, a dresser (bare) and tons of craft supplies. So I decided to build Lun'Mara a room, floor, and theater style cut walls. (a can't remember what the style is called)

Shhh don't tell Lun'Mara, its a late Christmas present and kind of a late Yule gift, even tho Yule isn't about gifts. I know he will love it. Oh I ordered a kimono, a tea set, slippers and a couch for him but it's still on "Before Shipping":sweat

Oh well, anyway it's to be great, I will sure to show every one when I'm finished :)

    12. What section of Hobby Lobby did you find the furniture?

I have been using Re-ment furniture for my Elf Ellys. The stuff is larger in scale than they are but they look cute sitting at the desk, dangling their feet.

    13. My dolls currently have four chairs, a makeshift couch, a coffee table and teaset, a bed and I am planning a few more.....I think I need to dedicate a whole room to their "house"

    14. I have a waterbed (think 70's pimp) I found on ebay (it's real too complete with fillable matress) some movie theatre seats from American Girl and a miriad of other furniture and accessories from there as well. I also hit ross and buy sofas and chairs there. I look at everything as a possibility and how I could use it for my girls and boys. I have a huge collection of liquor glasses and the sort that I've bought for them as well. I've paid as little as $2 at biglots for a chair to as much as $90 for a piece of furniture for the girls. It really all depends in the quality and the way the piece strikes me and how it will work with the kids. I also build things that I know i won't be able to find. Like a bar, and some gaming tables that I want, as well as a fish tank in progress and some other things that I really think are fun. I have two motorcycles, the list goes on and on and on.....

We are looking to buy a house very very soon, so when we do I plan to build a condo for my girls/boys in my office so that they have the ultimate pad to live in.

I also find myself buying things to revamp them. It is very rare that I actually take photos of the things I have for the girls and boys but here are a few I found fairly easily

This is a chair I picked up for cheap and decided to goth up (is an inprogress photo)

Here is my girl along with some of her friends from around the nation hanging out at Geno's in Chicago, the glass she's holding there, I flirted off the bartender, its perfection

Here is a shoddy bad shot of the waterbed with a girl and boy on it for reference to size. Its very long and fantastic.

    15. I don't have any, and I don't plan to get furniture either, because I wan't my doll to be a doll ^^ One thing that makes me like them so much is that they are like humans, but smaller.. I love photostories where dolls are in humansized areas and having problems to reach etc, I think it's so adorable. And I don't have any space for a dollroom x'D

But I changed my mind a bit today, when I found a perfect sd-sized wardrobe in a second hand shop.. It has on shelf for hats and one for shoes, it has drawers inside the doors and even hangers.. And it cost 8$ (and no shipping lol) so.. hm.. maybe I'll give the doll some livingspace.. >-<

    16. I don't have anything, really, my boy just sits on the edge of one of my shelves. I plan on getting him a chair or something eventually, but it will probaby be after I buy the dolls I'm saving for now (so, of course I'll need 3 chairs then... XD)

    17. I've had a thing for "minatures" all my life. I always looked for things that would "work" for my friends Barbies, then my little sister's AGD. Now that my daughter got into AGD, I started looking again & have come up with all kinds of stuff... the various Dollar stores are GREAT! Have to look, but there is usually all kinds of stuff that can be adapted or "fixed" alittle to work.

And, believe it or not, I got on sale, in K-mart (my mother dragged me there) - modular "closets" for Mattel's Teen Trend dolls (which are 17" versions of a "Bratz" or "My Scene" doll). Got a cool Wardrobe & hangers. Shoe rack w/plastic shoe boxes that even had tissue inside to wrap shoes! Hat/purse rack w/cool plastic hat box! They are perfect for my 15" (38cm?) doll stuff! How totally cool - not to mention they were on sale for $2-4 from the normal $14-16!!

Also, check your pattern books... there are 18" doll beds that can be made - and modified to fit any doll!

There are so many things (and not enough money)! Sometimes things just need to be looked at differently....

Besides! I don't think my dolls could handle standing all the time...I can't! So they gotta have some place to sit, or sleep!

    18. I have so many little chairs now.
      I have a beach chair that was a find at a op shop, and two rocking arm chairs one I wish to redo the fabric on to make them matching.. Our Generation doll chairs also work great and I have the modern looking one and the purple futon and I also have a jewellery box lounge kinda chair.. which honestly i think i'm going to sell as it's black and bright pink which was a cute idea at the time.. not so much now ^^;;

plus i want to get a bed and i have a quick question for those of you in America who have actually seen an American doll in person..
how big are they in comparison to mini BJDs?

      Would this bed http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140098821685&fromMakeTrack=true
be too big or perfect for two minis? (four if i want to use the bottom drawer)

    19. My boy just has the box he came in for a bed, thus far, but I really want to change that! I love miniatures--it's just so hard finding them in scale for SDs. ; _ ; If I had money, I'd pay it for furniture and the like--though at anything over $100 I'd really, REALLY have to think about it.
