1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. There are some tutorials on youtube as well as google images for bjd furniture or even just taking something you already have apart thats mostly how i learned to make large wooden doll furniture

    2. youtube, hadn't thought of that. i still don't really know where to start. i started making a chair out of a small box, cardboard, and fabric but stopped. i didn't think it was going well.

    3. let me see if i find some of the links i use to have and send them to you

    4. the first ones never do.... but things improve with each try

    5. Welcome to the hobby in a nutshell - learning all sorts of skill sets you never thought you'd need/use

    6. I've seen some seasonal deco stuff at places like Jo-Anns, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby. I saw an adirondack chair that was a photo frame, but the photo part would've been easy to cover with a pillow. I was tempted, but I want to actually see my doll in person before I start hunting through knick-nack shops.

I can read measurements, but they never really translate in my mind. On the other hand, I'm pretty good at judging once I've seen something.

    7. oh this thread is useful. i'm actually on a hunt to find sites/artists that makes bjd size furniture. i saw one artist on IG: it's 4dolls4now and her creations are amazing and made of high quality materials. so you should definitely check them out. :)

    8. I love using items from the unpainted wood isle at Michael's as furniture. I have a dresser I painted, and they have some items that would be promising tables, chairs etc with a little work.
I decided to make a room for my MSDs, studio loft style. I actually found a desk at Daiso, made a couch, side table, coffee table, lamp and rug to go in and I think it looks nice! Check it out on my instagram punxbjd !

If you're not keen on making a couch, I've seen doll sized ones online as jewelry boxes. There's a ton!

    9. I've got some American Girl knock off furniture for my MSDs as well as a thrift store wicker chair (the one everyone seems to have, haha).

Hoping to down the road learn how to make my own doll furniture though (I live in an apartment without the space, tools, or skills presently) because we have several SD and up size dolls ordered and it's so much trickier finding furniture for them. For one super SD and SD doll couple, we're looking at buying a pet bed that is good dimensions and actually looks like an actual human bed. Sometimes you have to be creative if you aren't in a position to happen upon the best thrift furniture or make your own.

    10. I can vouch for pet beds working for SD/SD+ sized doll beds. I used one for the base for mine, made the mattress, pillows and bedding. The dresser is a jewelry box (mine, actually) and the wallpaper is an upcycled sari. I also made the hardwood floor and the rug by the bed is punchneedle embroidery

    11. That's awesome! Nice! Yeah, my wife @ZucciniVeggie is going to make bedding and pillows for the two we're going to use the pet bed for. How did you make the floor exactly? It looks good. I've seen a lot of people use patterned paper or vinyl type materials for their doll house rooms.

    12. Popsicle sticks. Lots and lots of popsicle sticks, glued onto a thin board backing and coated in several layers of varnish. It took me ages, and is fairly heavy. Not as heavy as their tile floor, mind you, but still fairly heavy.

    13. Oh my gawd, are those tiny mosaic tiles?? Those two floors look amazing!

    14. Yes, yes they are :3nodding: Thank you!
We also live in an apartment with limited space so my sets have to break down fairly easily for storage. Since our apartment is w2w carpet, the wood and tile floors make getting the dolls to stand much easier. Even their "carpeted" rooms have a board underneath the floor covering to create a firmer surface.
I made the fireplace and the framed picture over the mantle is one I took. The temporary hearth rug is a placemat and the carpet is short pile fake fur

    15. Place mat is an awesome idea I hadn't considered yet. So far we're using wash rags for a couple of simple bedroom rugs. Your sets look great! Also very inspiring to see. I love the mantle too. Where did you get that sofa and chair?

    16. Sofa is from Dollmore. Chair is from Resin Etiquette, and while I mostly like it, I don't like it nearly enough for 18+ months of waiting and how much it cost

    17. 18 months? That's ridiculous. Why so long?

    18. It was supposed to be a 3 month preorder, then it was going to be 6 months... and they kept running into production problems, etc. Their furniture is gorgeous, but their business model leaves much to be desired.

    19. Wow, I'd have to agree with that. That's absurd how long you had to wait considering how much longer it took them to get the furniture to you than it takes for doll orders to be fulfilled. Are they even still in production? I tried looking them up online to see how expensive they are and can't find a place to actually view prices or purchase. I see some more examples of their work and it's impressive in detail.
