1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Furniture

Apr 2, 2005

    1. Thanks for the link, looks like a great site!

I have a nice chair I got from ebay, for my "My Twinn" dolls, but think it will work perfectly for my Gretel, when I get her... yes still don't have her... body :P

      Ingie

    2. The price seems to be fairly reasonable for what you get......hrm...I'd probably dive and buy the table set just to see the quality.

    3. I would definetly want furniture for my dolls ^^ I think its really cute when they have their own beds and little rooms. I do think most of the prices I've seen are a bit expensive though ^^;; I would most likely try making my own first and then checking out craft shops.

    4. Finding furniture for msd dolls is quite easy (easier than for SD), you just habe to look for furniture for "american girl doll" on ebay, they are the right size (you might want to check the measurment on indivudual items, but usually good) they have sofas, chairs, beds, trunks, even desks I have to refrain from buying it all :)

    5. I'm working on a set of furniture for my girls, I hope to have something concrete soon to show for it! I have a thread on the project here. I'm even working on the furniture before one of my girls has a full outfit!

    6. I think I might can post some pics of furniture couple days later.^^

I know one guy who is working in a craftart company When last days I chated with him and mentioned about BJD,after showing him some pics I collected from here which include armchair,he said his company also made mini furniture. After I keeping asking him for pics,he finally promise will send me some! If I get them,I will post them here for share.>_<

By the way,I am still not quite sure where should I post...ORZ

    7. I've already bought a bed, sofa and a doll carrier already... But I don't even have a doll yet!

Hopefully I'll bring her home by next month. :D

    8. I totally love second hand stores for my dolls "house". I was able to almost completely furnish it from things I got at the three major second hand shops in town. I also took an old book shelve and made into a three room "house" for my girl...she is spoiled!!!

    9. I use things I happen to already have. I have Muffy accesssories - beds, stove, all kinds of things - also have some American Girl things from the past and it all seems to work with different sized BJD's - it just depends on the size of your doll - you can fake it if you have to!

    10. I found a nice chair that looks just like a human chair. Sorry, I don't have a picture of it right now. But it was $7 at the Salvation Army store. An extravagent price for something there but, I guess they knew they had something nice.

    11. I am dying to put together a bedroom for my doll so she'll have a place to live once she arrives. I found a beautiful bed frame on IpleHouse for $70US, but since I'm putting ALL my money toward my doll, I was hoping to buy or make her some furniture and bedding for as little $$$ as possible. I'm a damn good sculptor, both carving and modeling, (if I do say so myself), a decent carpenter, an average seamstress, and an experienced painter... so I could probably craft it myself.

Does anyone have links to sites that sell reasonably priced doll furniture? Or better yet tutorials for making things like beds, bedding, dressers/tables, lamps (working or not), picture frames, etc? Any help would be most appreciated :)

*cough cough new workshop section?? cough cough*

    12. If you're used to messing around with wood, then it's quite easy to make decent furniture, but it does take a lot of time to do it properly.

At the risk of plugging my own work, if you visit http://www.palmyria.co.uk/dolls/stories/miyusnewbed2.htm, you'll see a bed I made from a few lengths of wood and some tint (I hate pine) The simple rectangular skeleton can be seen halfway down miyusnewbed1.htm (although I show a drill in the following image it's only for show, as I glued everything), whilst some work in progress is at http://www.palmyria.co.uk/dolls/tempfurniture.jpg, using some glass coasters and painted wood for a table, and an acrylic prop for a modern chair.

The footstool in the foreground is just two square frames with mitred corners, separated by short square sections, on top of small drawer knobs, which will then be covered by layers of folded and bonded fabric.

If you'd like more details of how I put things together, please let me know, but if you have a local DIY shop then it may be easiest just to get a few lengths of square / rectangular sections and experiment, and once you've made a frame you can almost make it up as you go along.

      Hope this helps!

    13. Wow, that bed looks wonderful! And I love how modern the tables are. Must... build... awesomeness!

    14. Hey, you're in SF.:)

I've gotten arm chairs, sofas, a wardrobe, wooden dining chairs and a drop leaf table for my 60cm dolls at the Ross on Geary. Sometimes the upholstered things are in various shades of hideous, but they always get more in and sometimes you luck out. I don't think I've paid more than $15 for any single item. I also hit some of the touristy Chinatown shops where I've found some coffee tables, bookshelves, swords, iron teapots and other minitures.

I haven't found a bed yet that didn't look odd or have a $200 price tag. I think making one would be the best option.

    15. Coolness. I could reupholster a cheap something-or-other from Ross no problem. I'm closer to the Lakeshore Ross though - does that ever have anything?

Now my craftwhore self is bouncing off the walls in anticipation of many fun projects.

    16. Sometimes Big Lots has dressers and tables and chairs... They're all cheap-ish stained bamboo, but they work nicely.

    17. Some of American Girl's furniture is SD scale, like their tables chairs and desks. and their Historical furniture is pretty nice.

    18. Well, if you ever want to buy furniture, I'd suggest surfing ebay for American Doll furniture. It's pretty close to size for anything from a MSD to a Luts SDF. I've seen a mahogany couch on there made for three dolls that cost about $7...

    19. I don't know for sure, but since I've found things at the one on Geary and the one downtown on Market, I'm sure they'll have stuff at Lakeshore too. The one on Market street is the most picked over which is why I didn't recommend it. When I happen to be near that one I'll go in and look, but it's not worth a special trip. I check the one on Geary evey other month or so. I haven't been there since January, there must be some new things by now.

    20. This site is great. But sometimes you find their stuff at local TJ Maxx, and Ross for even cheaper prices. I got 2 fainting couches an a SD chair for $30 from a TJ Maxx in Utah. On the site the couches alone where $40.
