Here's a WIP of the jeans I'm making for Yulie and Pavel
This is the first time adding real pockets, so wish me luck on that lol



I love their torso pieces, don't you guys?

 

Queedie2: I wasn't sure how much I wanted a Lili til I saw pics of yours and the face-up you gave her. I fell in love with her face in the promo pics, but wanted to get her blank and do the face-up myself. But her blank face looks so startled I didn't want to get her if she only looked good with the default face-up. n.n'

Wasn't 100% sure about her til I saw your face-up (as Lili is really hard to find pics of on here). I just ordered her. She's my birthday present from my father-in-law and uncle (who sent me money and that's what I decided to do with it). I love the range she has. Your face-up gives her so much attitude, where the default is so wide-eyed and innocent and maybe a little sad. I can't wait to get my girl and see how she turns out. I wonder what she'll look like, in the end.

 

I put real pockets on my Xavor, and it came out really good, but I don't think I'd ever try pockets on a 26cm. Kudos for attempting it. Are you following a tutorial, or playing it by ear? I used a great tutorial on here that really made it a lot easier than I expected.

I agree with you, her eyes are quite large. I find that placing the eye in her head looking up a little bit will cut down on that O_O look she has going on most of the time XD I totally agree with you I was like, in super love with her promo pics lol. She got me and I had to have her home.



I liked the default faceup on her, except for the lips. They were too lipsticky looking for me. My Doll Leaves kids are about 9 and she wouldn't be wearing lipstick lol. I am giving them both a new faceup. I think I made the paint on them too thick for these, but they came out better than the one before so they stuck for awhile xD It's been raining, though. ^o^ I hope to show you guys soon!

I'm sorta winging the pants. I learned to make jeans from the Anyone Can Sew tutorials made by Ragdoll. I've made them so many times I don't have to look at the tutorial anymore lol XD but I did it that way for these two at first, but the jeans came out really stiff and they couldn't pose very well. So, I'm sort of basing these pants on that tutorial, but modifying them a bit. I was looking at another pair of jeans for the pockets and just kinda replicating what I was looking at. So far so good!

Boy am I a chatterbox today o3o;; lol

My mom gave me an old denim shirt of hers to make jeans for my Jax. His overalls are made from old jeans but they're so small and the material is so thick that I almost busted the stitching turning them right side out. n.n' I'll probably use the shirt for Alicia (name I've been playing with for Lili), too. Also there's a cloak I designed that I wanted to make for myself, but didn't have enough material, and wouldn't really fit a boy (at least not any of mine) so I'm gonna make it for her. She'll probably be running around naked except for a fleece cloak for awhile before she has many clothes. I've never made girl clothes before so it's gonna be a lot of trial and error. n.n'

I find that girl and boy clothes can be about the same difficulty depending on the style you want them to look. I'm sure you could whip up a really simple dress Just until you figure out her style ^^
Yeah, reusing jeans has it's challenges. Old worn out jeans work really well. So do stretch denim. But some denim is just too thick to use on a doll as small as these.

Silver: Yeah. Mainly cuz I was deciding whether I wanted to wait and go for the event. Then, once you told me they don't have eyes anymore so that there wasn't enough I really wanted to add up to $180, how much I really wanted a Lili. But the little devil kept calling to me and I just couldn't say no to that face.

Queedie: I don't have any problems sewing for my MSD or SD, but I have nothing but trouble making pants for my Jax. Either the crotch is too small or the legs aren't long enough. It's enough to drive me crazy. I'm hoping the 2" (or thereabouts) difference is enough to make Alicia not such a pain. I do think I'm going to dress her more girly, though, so maybe I won't bother with any pants at all. First thing I need to do when she gets here, though, is make her a wig and decide if it suits her or if I want to buy a synthetic one. I've already ordered the fur so we'll see how it goes. I have a pair of pink fleece PJs with white stars (I found a scarf that was just too cute NOT to use, even though I just had a boy on the way at that time) that were for my MSD. The legs are a little short (made them before I had him and the measurements I had were off) and they have a drawstring around the waist, so I'll probably throw her in those, temporarily. I'll make her her own clothes and then probably take in the pajamas for her since Tovi doesn't like them anyway. Other than that I don't think she'll have any pants.

I have trouble sewing the crotch of pants too. Somehow, however it is that I sew it, you can see all the stitches and it really cuts down the flexibility of the pants I was making.
I did it here with the YO's even XD I'm tempted to undo them and redo it cause they can barely open there legs to a shoulder width. Dx lol

Your pjs you made sound adorable 8D taking them in to fit your LiLi sounds like a brilliant idea ^^
They'd probably suit her better than your MSD since he doesn't like them heheh xD

 

I went through my fabric today and I think I know the first dress I'm going to make her, but I'm not sure it'll really fit her personality. Guess I'll have to wait til I get her and see what happens.

I like making pajama pants. Fewer seams. I'm lazy so I hate sewing jeans with their seams on the inside and outside.

I don't know yet.

I have a nasty habit of putting dolly orders in on weekends, so I won't be able to find out when DS will be sending their next batch to Heartstring Serenade til at least Monday. After that it should be no time at all, though. My boys got from HSS to my house in 2 or 3 days, once they were paid for. Well once they were shipped, cuz I think I finished paying for them on a Sunday. Like I said: bad habit.
I torture myself by having to wait an extra day or two for everything.

And I hope you get some nice face-up weather soon, so I can see what your Lili and Kiki will look like next. XD Poor faceless resin kids. My Jax didn't have ears for the longest time cuz I took them off to blush them, but after I finished his face it started pouring and it was rainy and humid for days. But you need to have patience. I had to wipe his ears and redo them cuz it was still a little too humid and the sealer wasn't quite dry and I noticed a hair on his ear and when I picked it off it scratched all the sealer with all the blushing off. Learned a valuable lesson on not rushing face-ups just cuz I'm impatient to see the doll finished.

Maybe they'll already have a blank Lili lying around and can send her out right away with their next shipment. XD I'll let you know when I do. I won't have the fur for her wig til the 14th, anyway, but maybe I can get her shortly after that so I'm not going nuts with 3 fur samples and no doll to make a wig for.
