Doll Leaves 26cm Discussion

Well the fur for her wig just shipped. You don't have a hat for one of your 26cm kids, do you? I have a hat that was my first failed attempt at making one for my MSD (came out waaaay too small) and I'm curious if it'll fit Alicia, but I don't have any idea how big her head is. I'm thinking it might be too small, though, or might only fit without a wig. So I was wondering if you had a hat that you could tell me the measurement of when it's flat so I'd have a better idea whether or not it might fit.

(yes I obsess over weird things when I'm waiting for something. I don't like waiting, so I do my best to keep busy thinking about other things)

 

Hmmm I don't have hats for either of my kids, but I know Pavel would look quite handsome with a black beanie 8D lol I can crochet him one and let you know what size it is and what it looks like ^^

 

That would be awesome. Like I said, it was just lying around, anyway. I don't even know why I kept it, cuz at the time, getting anything smaller than an MSD didn't appeal to me at all. I just figured maybe I could stick it on something else, eventually, and I shouldn't throw it out. I just came across it in the top of my sewing box where I throw works in progress and thought it would be neat if it fit her. If nothing else, maybe it'll fit without the wig and keep her head warm while I sew it.

It's as big as my palm all flattened out it's so small and cute XD

It does seem to fit him quite nicely. Glad I could be of service? I guess? Yay, my obsessions helped someone! hehe But boo, I think the hat I already have is way too small. XP Ah well, I'll just have to make a new one. Not like I don't have tons of felt from another project lying around. Maybe I'll make her a little doll, or something o stick the too small for anything one on. XD

YES that's the other part of the hobby lol. Drooling over other collections XDD haha.

 

You know what I just realized? I don't think there's a single 26cm doll on the Doll Leaves Flickr page. It's mostly DingDing, DangDang, etc. And all the new girls and a couple of Mic and them, but I didn't see a single Dan, Kiki or Lili. Was hoping to see more pics of what people have done with her, cuz it's always interesting to look at other people's characters they come up with. And of course seeing lots of different wigs and styles of clothing and everything.

I promised the little girls downstairs that they could watch me do the faceups.
It seems like on the good weather days my neighbors are gone somewhere lol

All that's left is to paaaaint

Also, I'm almost finished with a comic project. Once that is done, I'm sure I'll be able
to paint these cuties D8 I haven't even finished their jeans orz.

 

That was nice of you to promise they can watch and own up to the promise. And it's good that you have other things to keep you busy, too, in the mean time. I will have things to keep me busy soon, but not really til after the first, and I'm hoping to have her by then so I'll be busy with her face-up and clothes before the Secret Santa craziness starts. After I sew for other people, I usually don't feel like doing anything for myself for awhile.

I might attempt to make her something off of her measurements... not sure yet. I have plenty of the fabric I'd be using, but I hate making something and then having it not fit and having to start over.

 

Alicia's wig came in the mail today! It was bigger than I expected. It almost looks the size of my MSD wig, even though I saw a picture of it on a YoSD and it looked great on her. I guess for some reason I was expecting it to be a little bigger than Alice's (my Jax) head rather than a little smaller than Tovi's (my AOD Chi). But I'm super happy with the quality of the hair and I can't wait to see it on her. I'm gonna make some scrunchies so she has something to tie it back with other than regular sized hair ties. I finally have a project I can do without having to try to go off measurements!

I'm sure I'll be equally surprised at the size of her boots when they come in. : I'm just not used to this size and I guess I was expecting everything to be tiny for some reason. Probably cuz she's just over 1/2 the size of my MSD and I'm so used to him that he seems almost small to me. Even my 60cm boy doesn't seem huge to me like I thought he would.

 

Oh yah? I always end up getting a wig after the doll just my luck though!... It's only been the other way around once.
What kind of wig did you get for her?

 

it's a long very-dark-brown-practically-black wig (seller said Volks) with bangs and pigtails. The only thing I wasn't sure about was I asked and the pigtails don't brush out because of the part built into the back, but I'm glad I got it anyway. Just something about it; the more I looked at it on the MP the more I liked it for her. And other than the part that can't be brushed out, the wig is very versatile. The hair is fine and soft and feels and looks real. Since it moves so naturally, I can at least have the pigtails higher or lower on the head and can probably pull it into a ponytail in the back to cover the part if I get tired of the pigtails. She just won't be able to have her hair straight down without the part visible in the back. I was actually super impressed when I got it, especially since I only paid $9.75 for it.

Edit: I took a pic. Right now It's sitting on Alice's lap cuz the parts next to the bangs got all curled in in the mail so I have them hanging off the edge of the rocking chair. so they'll hang right when Alicia comes in.

Those are the scrunchies I made, too. She's probably going to end up with a lot before she gets here. She'll have 50 scrunchies, a wig, boots and no clothes.
