Doll Leaves 26cm Discussion

Nov 8, 2010

    1. 6/7 should fit nice n snuggly~

    2. I figured. It's a really nice wig, too. It has elastic on the inside, so even if it was a little big it should be ok. I'm just paranoid. :sweat

    3. My girl is here!

I'm not particularly fond of the faceup, but that should be a somewhat easy change.

She was originally supposed to be his twin, but I'm thinking there isn't enough resemblance. After I change her face I'll decide whether she's going to be his sister or not.

Do those who have her find her head is a bit hard to move? She seems to like to tuck her chin down, and she won't look up.

    4. Double post- because I'm a horrible, horrible person.

That and I just removed her faceup and decided that if she wouldn't cooperate with being Azalea, that she needed to be someone else. Then I remembered that I had originally planned for a bunny girl who would be the twins imaginary friend. It's sort of a Calvin and Hobbes thing: the adults can see the stuffed bunny, but the kids see bunny girl.

Anyway: still in need of a face-up and a bit of work, but being herself instead of someone else- here is Angora the bunny girl!

    5. Quidam,

Congrats! I think she is super adorable!!

They could be siblings <3 Maybe not twins.
Though, Fraternal twins still might work xD <3 I would definitely work on getting them matching wigs.
That might help them look more related to one another.

Her default face is cute ^^ I don't think I've seen someone with a company faceup before.

      YEEEES
I have that trouble with my LiLi also. Not my KiKi, though, so it's definitely just her. I am trying to figure out ways to fix it. My first guess would be sueding, but I haven't tried it out yet. xD She's always looking down and her head will not stay where I put her.

      edit:
Actually, I love the rabbit girl idea. XD Her large eyes and small mouth work great for that 8D <3 <3

    6. I agree that her face-up looks weird with that darker hair. I think it lends itself better for blonde hair. Glad I decided to get mine blank so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of wiping it. I found AOD's default face-up sooooooo hard to wipe. It took hours to get off. dunno how other companies are.

I love the bunny girl idea! she looks so cute. can't wait to see her new face-up.

    7. ftt XD I've noticed it with a lot of companies, not just DS. Why do they insist on painting their faces with like reddish brown brows, and do promo shots with WHITE, or BLACK hair. O-o;;; I don't know anyone unless it's a fail dye job who has Light brown brows and Black hair.

    8. I guess they figure brown is pretty neutral as long as you want red, brown, or blonde hair. They figure 3/4 popular natural hair colors is pretty good coverage.

I knew a kid, once, with black hair that bleached it but didn't bleach his eyebrows so he had blonde hair with black eyebrows. Me and his other friends at the time ripped on him about it so bad. :sweat

    9. Lol XD It's why I tend to do my own faceups. Wig to brow matching is a Pet peeve of mine... drives me up a wall if they don't match.

    10. I don't like to get dolls with faceups most of the time, but JS only had the face versions up on the sale. As I was planning for black hair I already knew that her default face would have to go. I did try some lighter wigs just to see, but didn't like any. Her daddy has black hair while her mom has red, so I wanted the twins to be one of each.

The worst part is hard to see in the pictures, but they did a very sloppy job on the lips. The color and glaze went over the top of her upper lip making her appear to have horribly chapped lips and due to a runny nose.
The color is light so it still hard to see, but here's a bit of a better look:

Ookamichan03- Her faceup came off very easily, actually. My only bad experience so far was my DZ guy. It was like they had sealed him with super glue. He took about 40 minutes with nail polish remover.

Queedie2- Maybe I'll try sueding her head when she gets a faceup. It's nice to know that it's not something I was doing wrong!

    11. O-o; I've never used Nail polish remover.. >>;; I always use 90% rubbing alcohol and hot water and letting them soak in the hot for 5 minutes ( not TOO hot.. of course ) and then 10 minutes in the Alcohol and it all comes right off with a tooth brush

    12. I'll have to try that if there's a next time!
I use acetone free, by the way, so I'm not completely crazy! I like the brands that come off with only a magic eraser.

    13. Well I plan on keeping my DZ's face-up for a long time, so that's not bad. I got all my DS kids blank since I had specific ideas for their face-ups already. I was originally going to get my Lili with the default face-up, but now I'm glad I decided against it since she has a black wig. I just can't wait to get her home. I really hope she's here before Christmas. I wanted to wait for her to put up my little tree and she has presents coming from a secret santa exchange so it would be good to have her by then to take pics with her goodies.

    14. I use rubbing alcohol (i think 60 or 70% ) and a cottonball. it takes off my face-ups easily enough (other than any gloss. that takes longer) but it took hours and at least half a dozen cottonballs to get the AOD face-up off. I wouldn't want a magic eraser to take it off. I ose that if they get a little dirt or something on their faces. Wouldn't want that to wipe the whole thing when I'm cleaning them up.

    15. Magic erasers are fabulous for getting dirt off.. I use them all the time ( not wet ) to get dirt, dust n stains off of all my bjds

    16. I've used both clear (COMPLETELY clear!) nail polish remover and isopropyl rubbing alcohol.
I find that the rubbing alcohol works better xD but both will get the job done.

    17. The main reason I never tried alcohol is that I never have it in the house! Nail polish remover, on the other hand, is always here. I did just grab a bottle of alcohol at the store, so I'll give it a try next time.

    18. I am getting Doll Leaves Kiki for Christmas and I'd love to see what people did with the factory faceup so I can figure out what wig would look best on him.

    19. Quidam,
      That's understandable lol
That's the exact reason why I used the nail polish remover as my first choice for removing faceups.
Though, after trying the isopropyl I discovered I liked it better. And, the smell isn't as bad LOL
not AS bad. o3o I must stress this word hehe.

      Princess,
      Congrats! :D :D
      I ordered mine blank, I'm sorry I have no pics of factory faceup to help you with >o<;;

    20. I'd say look up box openings, but I don't think there are many, and not sure if there are any with the factory face-up. Doll Leaves still isn't really big and I've noticed more people have the tinies than anything so it's really hard to find pictures. I had the same problem with Lili, but I ended up ordering her blank, in the end.
