Doll Leaves 26cm Discussion

Nov 8, 2010

    1. How is everyone and their dollies? :D Any new developments or pictures? :)
My KiKi boy 's right arm likes to bed in a strange way. The elbow joint doesn't want to sit flush in the socket. Is anyone else having this issue? Is his stringing just a bit tight maybe? Just wondering. It's not terribly serious, but it can be annoying when I'm attempting to pose him and his arm doesn't cooperate lol.

    2. Hai all! New pics of KoKo:

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...pleted!-(WS-Doll-Leaves-Dan)&highlight=dandan

I spent all day making this outfit and wig by hand. I'm sooo tired. But I do love my KoKo. I'll be ordering some more Doll Leaves products next month! I love them so much. Such a great company and lovely dolls.

Queedie2 I have an issue with the elbow joints sometimes. They need a bit of getting used to. Sometimes they twist away from the natural position. A bit of firm handling and some more playing and you'll get the hang of it and it'll loosen up and co-operate a bit more too. I find it helps when I move the arms just to keep a fingertip on the elbow section and wiggle it if I have to.

    3. Mathurine,
That sounds like what's happening to me. 8D Good to know a bit more handling will fix it <3 Thank you :)

    4. Luckily the Doll Leaves 26cm bodies are so robust! You can manhandle them quite roughly and they can take it. I find with the elbows sometimes you move the arm, the elbow twists and when you put the arm back the elbow isn't seated right. Just a quick twist, like a rubiks cube and you're right again.

I took my two babies to a doll meet the other week and one of the guys was holding KoKo for a while. He couldn't stop playing with her knees! LOL! He thought the knee joints were so cute.

    5. I love what you've done with KoKo. I have a tan Dan and he is dressed as a Mad Hatter. The clothes don't allow him to move very well, so I will probably have to start sewing for him this summer when I have some free time.

    6. I WISH I had development on the little cutie currently sitting around headless... BUT my friend has some MSC she's letting me steal, and there's a doll show at the end of the month, so hopefully by June, the little boy will have hair and a face at least (six months after I got him. *is a bad dolly lady*). Kinda regretting not getting him with a faceup... the company face is so cute, I love the sugary lips. Oh well.

      As to the st
ringing issue... my Kiki likes to do a little diva back-pop xD He's so tight his chest will randomly gap like wow. It DOES help him hold a pose though, I'll say that much. Actually, now that he's headless, I think I'll see about unstringing him... Maybe I can loosen his elastic a little...

      (PS: Mathu
rine, I just adore Koko, she's soooo cute! Can't wait until her brother is done n_n)

    7. Nasa,
I know what you mean! I'm thinking about restringing all of my dolls lately. Only one of them *needs* it but I'm wondering if I slacken some of these pretties they'll do what I want xDD Have a good time at your doll show!! 8D Pics please <3 <3 I love your lil guy <3 (Probably cause we have the same one hehe) Too bad we weren't anywhere near each other. Our boys would look way cute posing in the same photo xD

    8. I got DanDan and KoKo at the same time and I found KoKo wasn't too tight but DanDan really needed to loosen up! I didn't untie him, I just adjusted the knot on his strings and pulled the joints apart gently to stretch the elastic a bit more. He was still tight but after playing with him a few times now he seems to be a lot better. KoKo has always been a dream to play with, I think that's why I did her outfit first. I won't say she's my favourite of the two, that wouldn't be fair to DanDan but she did make a better first impression. :)

    9. I've been considering restringing these two. They pose very solidly, but sometimes can be a bit stiff. I think they'd be just fine if I played with them a little more. ;o; School has them all sorts of neglected ;o; in the middle of making Yulie a skirt, no less! I bet she's not happy lol Her mommy will be home any day now and she's pantless xDDDD </3

    10. ~gasp!~ No pants?! OMG!:o

Hehe, I had to quickly make up a couple of pairs of pants for DanDan and KoKo the other week when I realised how close I was to a dolly meet, they were both going and neither one had any clothes at all! So DanDan got a pair of trunks and KoKo got a makeshift bikini, all quickly made up by hand in a couple of hours! Thankfully they held together long enough for the meet. KoKo's bra fell apart the day after lol!

    11. Mathurine,
SHE WAS! D8 Giving me her little evil eye, asking how is it at all appropriate to meet her mother without a proper outfit xD
I am happy to share that both are decent now hehe I will make more clothes for them in the future, but everyone gets at least one outfit before I start on additional stuff hehe.

WOW that is crazy that KoKo's top fell to pieces the next day! At least it lasted throughout the event! That might have been embarrassing!! o///o

Here are Yulie and Pavel, waiting for Mommy by the window <3 There are additional pictures on deviant!

    12. ^^ Awwww, they're so cute, Queedie. I looove the stripey shirts n_n

    13. Thank you Nasa! :D
They were at one time 3 month onesies that my son grew out of before he had a chance to even wear them. xD
I was like, this is perfect dolly fabric D8 Since these two are kids in my group, they were the best choices <3
The onesies had horizontal strips, but I thought they would look better vertical on them :D I am happy I didn't keep them horizontal @o@ lol

    14. Aww so cute! Look how well they stand! That's a good testament to the Doll Leaves jointing system. They're small but soooo solid when they stand! I have a wonderful (very old) picture of KoKo, standing almost on one foot with virtually no support. Her hands are on the wall but she stands that way without support, she just has her tippy toes on one foot on the floor for balance:

Squee! I know she's my own doll but don't you just love those little bodies? Someone at the meet was so impressed with her knees, they couldn't stop playing with her lol!

I've actually got a draft email ready to go (when I have the cash together) which is an order for the 60cm body for a couple of floating heads I have. The head's resin, when they arrived was so similar to Doll Leaves NS I didn't even have to think about it. I just blushed them to match and starting saving my money for the body. I just know how well they stand, how well they're jointed. Also the price, the customer service... Well Doll Leaves can do no wrong in my book. :)

    15. Great pic. I need to get my Dan out of his tight-fitting pants and let him MOOOOVE some. I think he wants to DANCE!

    16. Argh, waiting on my friend to find the MSC is driving me mad. It's nice out, I want to do faceups nooowwww! ;_;

    17. Mathurine,
I remember that photo!! Yes I love how well they pose 8D It can be surprising the body language they can show in a photo <3 They have a lot of personality :3

      Nasa,
Oh nooooes! find it D8 </3 I hope you're able to do your faceups like you want! 8D <3

    18. I know that feeling. Mine ran out last week and I don't have the cash yet to order some more. Ah well at least the head I sprayed has a good layer on him ready to go.

    19. What makes it worse is that I've been doodling him so now that I've got his look finalized, I'm really getting antsy to do it.

    20. Yeah I sprayed a head a while ago, pastelled all the details in, went to spray again and it ran out! It was ages before the new can arrived and the pastels had started to get affected so I had to clean off and start again. I was so unhappy! Strange thing is I did his face again and it was very different to the first one and so much better so it worked out for the best.

Fingers crossed I'll be placing my next Doll Leaves order in a few days - woot!
