Doll Leaves 60cm Boys Discussion

Apr 26, 2010

    1. Hello, I'm considering buying my first Doll Leaves doll. I totally fell in love with the new gray Andy. It seems that he's the first boy to be made in gray so I'm going to have to do my research on their gray resin. Other than that how is the quality of doll leaves overall? It's a fairly new company only been around for three years. I would like love to hear some feedback. Thanks!

    2. Well I have several of their dolls in SD and MSD and I love the all. The quality of their face ups if you are getting from them is very well done. They look almost like the pictures. The MSD girls I have are the grey skin and I have to say that it is very lovely. It is a light grey with a blue tint to it. It's very had to explain. I have also been eying Andy in grey as I am extremly fond of my grey girls and I think he looks wonderful in his promo pics. I would suggest going over to the MSD thread and looking at the pictures of the grey girls there. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?535302-Doll-Leaves-MSD-45-cm-Discussion-part-2. Good look and hope to see pictures of him soon.

    3. Thank you strr99. I'll check that thread for inquires about the gray resin. Since you own SD, hows the body construction? Do they have severe seam lines? And how do the pose, can they stand on their own? Thank you.

    4. The male body if very nice. They look manly but not to manly. I cant't recall if it's a three part torso or not. I know for sure the girls are, I can check on that and let you know a little later. No seam lines that I can see. I have not had any problems standing him. I think that some people have had problems with the girl bodies and standing. I know that I do struggle with the girls. I think those that have stuggled with standing fixed the issue with hot glue. You may also want to youtube asenvabjd she has a review on Doll Leaves bodies. I think over all these dolls are underrated. I love mine!!

    5. I have the male body, RyokoDWolfwood, and it has a torso part and a waist connector, if that counts as two?

I just love the joints in the DS bodies, i actually sold one of my DZ MSD boys to pay for the SD DS, and it was totally worth it! I agree with str99, no issues standing, no seam lines, and not to buff or scary looking :-)

I have had some experience with grey/purple bodies, and while that was a Bobobie, DS seems to be really good with keeping the bodies one tone, so let me know how your research goes with DS grey bodies!

    6. Thanks for the info Mazokugirl451

    7. Hi everyone~!!^^
      I'm really in love with the new Doll Leaves 60 cm boy body, I'm planning to buy one for my floating head, though I'm really unsure about everything ;_;
I don't know anything about the color matches. As in normal skin... is it more like a pinkish tone, or a yellow one? Can soeone help me please?;3; I also don't know about the proportions, I guess my head is kinda big and I'm afraid that he would turn out to be a balloon-head on the body :<

    8. The body i have allegedly is for normal skin (i think) and it's more yellowish than pink, though that may be due to age.

The heads are a little big, but they don't look balloonish on the DS body. I put a smaller head on recently, in fact, and it looked strange haha.

    9. I've got 2 DL 60cm boys and they pose pretty well. They do need sueding though, to pose reallllly well :)

    10. Well I don't know if this helps but this is my Doll Leaves Boy and one of my Doll Leaves girl.

    11. Hey! I don't currently have a DollLeaves doll, but I had a Normal Skin Noir recently, and I did some hybrid experimentation with him, let me tell you what I remember.
The resin color is more pink than yellow, and a little darker than some "normal pink" resins, but not unusually dark. The color was close to Illusion Spirit Normal Pink (I think darker, but don't rememember), close to AngelsDoll Normal Pink (but a little darker), close to MiroDoll normal (but a little darker). At any rate, it's a very lovely resin color! Very natural.
As for proportions. . . I personally do not like fat-headed looking dolls, so I prefer Doll Leaves male body size with a smaller 8-9inch head and I think it does not look as good with a 9-10inch head (and their head sculpts tend to be larger). I can't tell you much about pose-ability of the new body because I had an old body (but cast recently, at the same time as the new body) -- all I can tell you is that I found the posing of the old body wacky and problematic, and that the resin color is lovely and pretty easy to make hybrids with, especially if all you need is a very close match.
Hope any of that is helpful!

    12. I have the new version of the boy body. I find he poses pretty well. I did suede his wrists since his hands would flip up at odd times.
Here I have taken advantage of the hand-flipping. I hope this does not come out as a duplicate post: my previous attempt never appeared.

    13. I just received my Rihito (DL Myron), and I actually was not expecting how tall he was (though I've had a comparison with my dear Ersha (DOD Homme Ivan) and have known he is 17 cms taller... I suppose it never really settled in my head). Haha. I was a bit uncomfortable with him at first, but I am starting to have a lot of fun with him. Sadly, I cannot sew him clothes until tomorrow as my family came over and it's quite hectic. I suppose I never really processed that white skin would be extremely pale, so when I received him and he was standing near Ersha, I felt kind of offput. This is just a beginner's experience, I suppose.
Anyways, I really like Myron and DL altogether. :)

    14. Congrats, please post some pictures of him.

    15. I did not get Rihito any clothing and his wig is on the way here... He's completely bare at this moment. Also, forgive the blurriness. I have extremely shaky hands and was unable to focus as much as I hoped. Also forgive my messy room... haha.

This is a close up so that you can see his makeup.

    16. D'aww what a cute face he has, Yluon :D

    17. TurtleJen: Eeeep~ Thank you. Q7Q!! I want to make him clothes soon but I have so much work today (I'm procrastinating at this very moment pfff).. His brother Ersha wants to dress him up as well. Hahaha~

    18. Thought I'd pop in here with some reference pics. A month ago I received a grey skin Andy head that I was planning on using to make a hybrid but his grey resin was far paler than I was expecting...a beautiful colour but just a very unique icey grey. As there aren't any other blank Andy head pics out there and very few owners of this gorgeous boy I thought I'd add this one here.

You can find several other pics of this head in my Flikr account here:-

    19. He is so cute. I really love the grey that DS uses. I have both MSD girls in the grey and I love them in this color. He has been the only boy in a long time to tempt me.

    20. I tend to love grey resin to begin with and Doll-Leaves' grey is a really unique icey colour by comparison to most, so I'd have to say I love this colour too. :aheartbea Looks great on Andy ^^
