Doll Leaves Mini [45 cm] Discussion part 3

Dec 22, 2014

    1. @Psiiconic I took a look at the MSD jointed hands from the companies you mentioned :) !

I edited this post so many times, I'll just number my thoughts/questions so it's easier to reply to xD...

      1. Any particular reason you went with Doll Family?
      2. Just based on the aesthetics I think I'd go with Doll Family or Doll Legend, just wondering about the resin match and whether the hands would actually fit xD (ball/socket) . I guess the color issue can be fixed pretty well with blushing.
      3. Did you pick regular pink or imported pink? I got no idea what the difference is, but imported pink costs more xD...
      4. Do you have any idea if Doll Legend heads would fit the Doll Leaves body? The Doll Leaves is pretty small, and a Doll Family head for instance (at least the one I have) look way too big for the Doll Leaves body xD - I mean proportionally.

P.s. Doll Legend has all the measurements there and based on the 1.3cm wrist diameter this might actually work out :] !

    2. I actually bought mine secondhand and I don't have them yet, but to my knowledge they are almost new, sueded, wired, and in normal pink, not imported pink. I don't have any other dolls yet so I can't really tell you about resin match, but it doesn't worry me too much-I'll be having him blushed to match. I bought these hands because 1: I liked their look far better than something like the Dikadoll ones and 2: because they've been wired and sueded and that means I won't have to do it! Hah.

I believe I've also seen a doll leaves boy with these hands somewhere before, so I wasn't too worried about their fit. And I'm not sure about the heads and bodies-the only other doll piece I've got right now is a Doll Family 70cm practice head in yellow and he's actually got too small a neck for most 70cm bodies except Doll Family and Mirodoll. On the other hand, he's got quite the head circumference and I suspect their msd dolls are very similar.

    3. Ordered my Amara!!!

Don't know if anyone can see it but she reminds me of legend Lillian Gish. When I saw that I new she was my 40+ cm girl.

    4. Just me then, OK

    5. Honestly, the color is more yellow than what I thought, but with a little blush you can't tell. And in all honesty, it doesn't bug me. In person, it doesn't look bad. *shrugs*

    6. Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here, I am waiting on Jeremy and Ida. I have a few nooby questions I was hoping I could get help with answering them here..?

1-do basic dolls with face ups come with eyes?
2- will slim msd clothes be to small?
3- what is the average wig size for Doll Leaves MSD dolls (male+female)?
4- please may I request some photo spam all the dolls? ;)

      Thank you in advance :)

    7. Oooh, congrats helenb92! You will be thrilled with your dolls. :) I'll add my 2 cents on your questions, and I am sure others will be happy to do so too!

      1. Yes. Generally all dolls come with free eyes. You just may not like them if they are random eye colors, but I have scored some awesome eyes that way!

      2. Slim won't be too small. These guys are pretty thin.

      3. My boy wears 7/8. Can;t say for the girls, though I assume it is the same.

      4. I'm happy to spam!

I can finally share pics of D'arcy! (He's the Royal sculpt. Which he takes literally.) He had already rejected these clothes, but when my shoe order came and the shoes that were supposed to fit did not (the measurements on the listing were very wrong) he had to give in. The boots and wig he stole from another doll. I think he's happy to be dressed. :)

    8. @pepperonipizza - thank you so much for the information, Doll leaves is only the 2nd company I have ever ordered from so I was a little unsure. :) can you give me any other information you might have in regards to shoe size etc? Jeremy will be my first boy doll so I am lost as to what to dress him in! :0
I am very excited for my couple to come in, but I believe that will take roughly 30-35 business days?
Your Royal looks awesome if somewhat difficult to please ;)

    9. @helenb92

1: They come with eyes, but they may not be what you want. My Whish came with a pair of very cheap looking pair of eyes. It was kind of funny really. The eyes were light blue and had an awkward shape (not just the high paper weight kind of high dome, but almost pointy domes that makes the pupil invisible from certain angles) and very tiny pupils. When I opened the package they were positioned dead center in the eye holes and made him look absolutely terrified!
I had a good laugh about it, he looked like he had a rough journey. But once I changed them for a better pair he calmed down a bit.

      2. These boys are very petite. They are slim and short compared to most companies.

      3. I use 7/8 too, but it may vary depending on the wig. Some have more stretch than others. Whish have a very prominent shape of his back of the head and a quite small face in comparison, so I have to be careful about fluffy wig. If it builds too much bulk he looks like a little alien. But that probably varies from one sculpt to another.
Doll leaves heads can be ordered with either gender of body, so I don’t think there is any difference in head size between them.

      4. I don’t have anything new right now, but I’ll post something when I do.

    10. @Lillith - thanks a bunch for taking the time to answer my questions! :)
I will look into ordering new eyes for Jeremy and Ida, I'm estimating 12mm should be alright?
Sounds like that would have been an interesting box opening! Was he well packaged? Im terrified of opening a doll to find it damaged! :0
That's good news about the clothing, as it's fairly easy to get slim msd/mnf clothing...

Im not really sure what kind of wig to get Jeremy. I quite like the one in it promo pics which I think is a fur wig? So il look into getting one of those :)

Please do post photos when you can I'd love to see more! :)

    11. @helenb92
I use 12 mm for Wish. I don't know if they all use the same size and what fits may vary slightly depending on the maker of the eyes and the look you want, but I'd say 12mm is as good a place as any to start.
Yes, he was wrapped up nicely. Nothing fancy, but it did the job just fine. :)

    12. @helenb92 Congratulations on your order :) ! I agree with what @Lillith said - especially in regard to the eyes. Those were just .... bad xD. Super points (never seen anything like it) and really not that great quality. I replaced them with 14mm glass eyes BUT if you want more of a normal look 12mm is definitely better (I tried those as well and they were great).

As for shoes - mine is currently wearing these and they fit really well. They do look a little wonky, so you could probably take smaller ones easily:

Shoes for BJD Dolls - BJD Accessories, Dolls - Alice's Collections

I got no idea what the company name is that produces them, but they fit quite well. They got a zipper on the back so they're also real easy to put on. One thing I absolutely don't advice: Dollzone MSD shoes >_> (at least not the male, black ones) .... Bought them and they're ridiculously gigantic... Not just on the Doll Leaves Wish, but even on Dollzone MSDs oO I got no idea what they were thinking...

@Wigs: I use regular MSD sized wigs for him. He has a smaller head than a Doll Family A MSD sized head for instance, more in line with Dollzone head-sizes (though I'd think Dollzone heads are actually a tad smaller?). Some 7-8 wigs look a bit big on him, for instance I got a fur wig size 7-8 which looks just ... funny xD. Way too big for his head and too puffy.

Other than that I had a real easy time dressing up Wish in regular MSD sized clothes. He has a great size and usually fits into pretty much anything that is MSD sized.

I finally sort of completed his Link outfit - here are some pictures of the final result:

    13. I have the same boots and they fit ok. They are a little wide, but not too bad. It is possible to fit a pair of socks in them.

I haven’t tried too many different shoes on him, since his character prefers going barefoot, so I can’t be of much help with what else fits.

    14. @Lillith - thanks for letting me know about the eye size, I hope I can find some really gorgeous ones for my couple :) even though it's maybe a little boring I really loved the style of the promo pics outfit for Jeremy so I'm going replicate that as best I can, Ida will be coming to me as a full set so il worry about clothes when I get her :) good to hear they package them well!

@Milenn - it's good to know that 14mm eyes work too as I already have a mini stock pile in that size from my minifees.. so would you say that minifees clothing could be too small? I'm just really unsure on what to shop for...
Thanks for the shoe link, il be sure to have a good look at the possibilities. .. hopefully they won't be as difficult as mnfs to find shoes!

Had a quick look earlier for a fur wig but I didn't see any I liked.. so the search continues!

Great to see photos of Link! It's great seeing game related BJDS :)

    15. @helenb92 thank you very much :) - and as for the question: I actually did buy him a pair of pants that was originally worn by someone elses Minifee boy - it was a pair of stretch pants, but still it looked quite a bit bigger on my Wish, so if anything I'd say, that Minifee pants will probably fit, but might be a little big. To make sure I'd try to find measurements (I didnt see any on the minifee product page) and compare them. You can find Doll Leaves MSD sized boy measurements here:

Doll Parts, Doll Leaves - BJD Dolls, Accessories - Alice's Collections

      and MSD girl measurements here:

Doll Parts, Doll Leaves - BJD Dolls, Accessories - Alice's Collections

Btw I just noticed - seems the girl is a bit taller than the boy? The girl body is so pretty though :) ! I wish my boy way a bit more detailed/defined in his feet/hands xD . But luckily the hand-issue can be remedied with the jointed hands (from Doll Legend I think it was) that was mentioned before by Psiiconic.

    16. Yep! I don't have my boy yet so I can't quite confirm it, but I do have the hands and they are lovely. They probably need to be rewired (they were secondhand) but jointed hands look wonderful even if they're a bit of a butt to position on occasion.

    17. @Milenn - Thanks for the info regarding the measurements as I hadnt come across them before, I dont think il be getting jointed hands anytime soon, but perhaps in the future. Fairyland has a measurement table link on thier home page if you are after them for comparison purposes :)

@Psiiconic - Thats great to hear about the jointed hands, I'd love to seem pictures of them when you get your boy! I imagine he will look awesome! :D

    18. I'll be making sure I take some!

    19. @helenb92 Oh thanks a bunch for the Fairyland tip :) !

@Psiiconic Looking forward to those pics of boy+hands :) ! Still pondering which hands to get, but probably the same you did. Though the sale they had is over so now I think the price is back to $85 OTL (during sale they were $65 I think)

    20. [IMG]

This is suuuuper late, but my Lilith arrived with a broken finger so while I was waiting for a replacement hand I put on her a jointed DF-H pair in normal skin, so you can at least see how they look on the ladies. (Sorry, this is the only decent photo I have of her with them) They're too big for my tastes, though they do make her look sort of like a Tim Burton character or DollChateau-like. She now has her new replacement hands, and the jointed ones were passed onto another doll :)

I hope this is in any way helpful, and I really hope the DF-H hands will look more natural on your boy than my girl.
