Doll Leaves Mini [45 cm] Discussion part 3

I ordered a blank NS Kira from Mint on Card...I have yet to pay him off but I can't wait for him to arrive!! I would love to get him jointed hands eventually, and I will be making his wig and clothing as the wig style I want and clothing his character needs are either horrendously out of my pricing range (The closest wig I saw was more money than he is) or would need to be custom made anyway. His character is my Grey Warden from Dragon Age: Origins, so I need at least two outfits for him, though the character is developed enough that I could probably put him anywhere universe-wise.

 

@Coffee-Bat - your boy is adorable! It's so fun when your dolls come together. I bought a Doll Leaves Royal some time last fall, and I have never been able to decide what direction to take him. I have so many ideas, but none have seemed to stick. So, he is cold and clotheless in a container safely awaiting that time I can get him together.

@pepperonipizza > o < awe, thank you do much!! I can't wait to get him new clothes and props. Cx awe, sometimes it can be hard figuring out a character, especially when a doll defies what you want to do with them!! they seem to have their own thoughts in mind sometimes...

I had a traumatic experience getting her head off to change her eyes, though. She's strung SO TIGHT that I kind of roughed up the resin in her inner head slot with the s-hook since it was so incredibly hard to get her head back on after I got it off, but it's really not noticeable from the outside at all. It's just a couple little dents, really. I still feel bad. Like I injured her right after she was born lol

 

@Coffee-Bat: They do have their own ideas about who the are, ask any doll owner. That happens to us all.
But I think it's part of the charm with these dolls. To see them evolve and take the form of their own characters.
@Ru-chan: Don't worry about it. Once you have goten to know her a bit you will forget about it and never notice. New dolls are always so much fun, I look forward to pictures!

Okay, I'll have to upload the box opening sometime else because I have french homework, but without further ado...Here's my Hedy in white skin + her company faceup (since that's what they had in stock and I couldn't resist...)

^with the default eyes she had in her already. I'm pretty sure these were 16mm which is I guess kind of strange for an MSD? She didn't fit in the 12mm eyes I got her because I read that they'd work better with Doll Leaves MSDs but...I think her sculpt has particularly large eyes so she'd be better off with just 14mm eyes most likely x__x

...And the slightly smaller 16mm eyes I found in my ancient supply bag, as well as a really ratty mohair wig that I thought I had completely destroyed back in the day...I really need to buy a bunch of new stuff for her.

She's just wearing one of my SD's coats. Because I don't have any clothes for her at the moment. She IS my first MSD...
She's such a dreamy and delicate sculpt up close! I'm very happy with my decision (:

 

@Coffee-Bat I hope you share more pics of him! My guy is also nameless. Funny how they do that. He rejected both plan A and plan B. I really love him, so even though he's been naked and nameless for several months, he's not going anywhere!

@Lillith - Yep, it is part of the charm of these dolls! Your Teofil is so cute! I love his socks. Did you make them?

@Ru-chan - Yay for her arrival! Gawd, yeah, that's pretty traumatic to cause any chip. It totally happens, and since you can't see it, I wouldn't worry too much! She looks so happy to be home! I have a MSD (not Doll Leaves) that has very large eyes, and so he has either 16mm or 18mm. Not sure on that as I'd have to measure to remember for sure : so I don't really think it's unusual to require 16mm. But I also love the large eye vs. the more real looking smaller eyes. You'll get her right eyes figured out. Can't wait to see what you do with her!

 

@Lillith ahh my boy definitely has changed, the persistent little thing. @-@ and also Teofil look lovely!!

A couple of older photos of Alkeos, and the bottom being the newest! o u o I need to get him some new eyelashes....I uh...accidentally pulled his off back when I tried to change his clothes for the first time. Haven't gotten him any new ones since

 

Thank you. My mother made the socks shortly after I got my first BJD. I did make those worn by the doll next to him, though, based on the ones mom made. She made a description for how to knit them, but it is in Swedish. If anyone wants to check it out, though, it is here.

 

@Coffee-Bat - He's really adorable! Eye lashes can be easy to lose. I don't really bother with them for my dolls, even though I do like the look. Is that a Dollshe I see in the background?

@Lillith - That's awesome! Thanks for sharing the pattern. I've always wanted to make knitted socks (even though I'm not that great at knitting) so thanks for the link! (I can't read Swedish of course, but I'm gonna try to put it through a translator.)

 

I got the eyes for my Kira in early today and took them out to look at them, and then dropped one!! Anyone know how far an acrylic eye might bounce? I haven't been able to find it.

 

I typically only lurk this thread but thought I'd pop in for a bit.

Congrats on your new girl! She's beautiful. And I own a few 1/4 dolls with 16mm eyes (one even wears 18mm), so it happens.

I look forward to seeing what you do with her!

I wouldn't think they would stray too far, especially if they are flat back. Is there furniture in the room? The eye could be under there. Also, if you happen to have a cat, it could have found the eye first and swatted it away further (at least that's what my cat would do).

@pepperonipizza I've noticed. @ -@ he may or may not get new ones, and he actually may be getting his face wiped soon, but he has a factory faceup so I'm nervous!! And yes!! : D I went to a dolly meet a little while back and my coworker and good friend brought a few of her dolls too, that would be her dollshe saint in the background! he's amazing, all her dolls are actually.

 

Boy I hope so!! I don't have a cat and my dorm room is pretty small. I'm amazed I lost it so I can only hope it'll turn up, it's a very pretty eye.
