1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Love discussion!

Apr 22, 2010

    1. @ XxPretty-Dead-GirlxX

My Luck posed pretty well right out of the box. I did eventually suede his shoulders and ankles for added stability, and he stands really well. He can carry an MSD on his back "piggy back" style without dropping the little one or falling over! Please excuse his scary bowl-cut temporary wig. He has a much prettier one now.

    2. I don't know if this is the spot to ask, but I'm making a hybrid for my first doll. His head is the Beata sculpt from Doll Love, in pink skin. Since I don't like the Doll Love bodies, I've been searching for a different one. Right now I'm debating between the Doll Family style 3 body, and the B60b-02 Doll Leaves body. What I'm most concerned about is the resin matching. Does anyone have comparison pics? (KellyinDallas is gonna show me pics of her DF, so that's covered). So if anyone has pics of the DL body, I'd be so grateful! Also, with both of them, their necks are 9.5 cm, and the Beata head should be on a 10 cm neck. Would it still fit okay?

    3. YAY! I'm so glad I found this thread! :D My one SD girl I have is a Doll Love Alice, and I'm excited to see others that have that doll (and others from that company - is it just me, or is DollLove not very popular?).

Here's pictures I have of my Alice (whose name is Goldwyn) thus far: http://www.flickr.com/photos/storywriteranddollowner/sets/72157632359625706/

I also have a question for you Alice owners: For some reason, I can't get my girl's head to look up or down and stay positioned that way. Is that a normal part of the head sculpt? Or do you think she's strung too tight?

    4. my snow sing has trouble too and it is quite noticeable in comparison to my other girls i have/have had, i have been meaning to sued her which should give her neck joint more grip

    5. Let me know wjen you do it if that sueding helps with that head movement. I may need to do the same for my Alice.

    6. I have a question for doll love Alice owners. I have an Alice and I want to buy new eyes for her (I only have the ones the company sent her with), which size does the company use? I've heard you can use 16mm or 18mm for her, but I wanted to know what size the ones she has are. Thanks in advance <3

    7. DarkPanther: The default eyes from the company for the Alice are 18mm; I, however, prefer 16mm for my Alice. :)

    8. Wow, we have a lot of activity in the thread! Woot! I'll try to answer some questions. :)

IMO the .5cm difference won't be that noticeable, so I guess you'll be ok with that (besides, you can cover it with a wig if ever!).

Hi there! I own an Alice as well. :) Doll Love is not very popular, but I personally don't mind.

Doll Love heads can't look up and down unfortunately. Its just the way their heads are made. I'll try to upload a comparison pic of my IH Mars head (who can look up and down) vs. my DL Alice head.

Adding kips may help a bit, my Alice once had one on her neck, but she still can't move their heads up/down that much.

They have 18mm as default. :)

    9. Thanks to Madz and Mew Universe :)I thought my Alice was strung too loose when I got her, I guess it varies, she can kind of look up but not down at all.

    10. My Kael (Luck) will not look far up or down but my Damian (Brian) is quite good at looking down. Not sure why as they both appear to have pretty similar string tightness. I haven't tried sueding yet.

    11. Aw man... I was hoping to get a couple pictures of my girl looking up and daydreaming. Alas, I'll have to try that kip method. Thanks :) ... what IS a kip, btw?

    12. Thank you Kelly! I'll make sure I ask his face up artist to make sure she suedes him!

Okay, what's the best eye and wig size for luck as well?

    13. an 8-9 inch wig works best. Eyes are a little tricky. The eye holes are 18mm long, but they're not open very far. I found that the 18mm eyes filled in the eye holes a little too much for my taste so I have custom eyes in my Luck that are 18mm whites with 14mm irises. It just depends on what look you're going for.

Can't wait to see your boy when he arrives!

    14. I'm hoping to pay him off early! Thanks for all you're help! He's going to make an amazing demon prince!

    15. Kips are silicone or suede discs placed in between their joints to improve their posing skills. It looks like this:

    16. I just started a layaway for Thea. I've always liked her sculpt, but had no idea what it was (the only thing I'd ever seen of her was a listing for her fullset that didn't say what doll was the model). Long story short, today was a crappy day and I happened to run across that gorgeous doll on Mint on Card, and she was on sale. I've never owned an SD before, but luckily my brother collects them and I have an idea of the size. I'm really excited, guys >3< Most of what I own is MSD and tinies, but I really think an SD would be really interesting and she's SO pretty! Anyway, sorry for rambling. Even just finding her was a big high point, but then finding out she was on a 10% sale was even better.

    17. I got the shipping notice from Mint on Card that Luck was on his way! I'm so excited! And now I have double the incentive to pay him off early!

@aronzo: I was freaking out when I saw that they had a special on for the doll-love dolls. Congrats for putting that pretty lady on layaway!

    18. Thanks! I'm super excited for her >3< already looking at dresses and wigs. My brother has a Ringdoll Julia that he keeps in a kind of high-class Victorian look, so I kinda wanted to do something similar with Thea. I actually haven't really considered a larger doll other than 70cm boys here and there, but she's perfect.

    19. I'm still amazed at how photogenic the doll-love dolls are. Here's a pic of my Damian who is so much easier to get a good photo of than any of my other dolls. He is easy to pose and stands well on his own.
