Doll Plans 2017!

Aw crud, do I have plans...

• Get some props for my Annix (some drawing supplies and some foodstuffs would be nice)
• Build a small bedroom for him to be displayed in
• Learn to sew Annix some decent clothes
• Buy or make him a new wig

To be Bought:

• saving for a Doll Chateau Douglas to shell Annix's BF
• waiting for the next Impldoll event to get Impldoll Idol Tony
• Learn to make clothes for both these atypical bodies
• saving for a Resinsoul Rong to shell my anthropomorphized guinea pig, Maisie

 

Only plans remaining:
-Get face ups for the three who are currently blank (and possibly repaints for my two oldest, though that idea keeps getting debated)
-DONT BUY ANYMORE THIS YEAR (even if there is one on the market place you want...)

 

I really wanna learn how to sew outfits for my dolls

 

- finish listing/selling the bulk of my neglected collection
- get some props for Ryon
- "finish" (faceup/settle on eye and wig combo) Niko once her body arrives

 

I had no plans.. then i see Nobility Doll Sunho for sale and next thingIi know hes on layaway. I couldn't not since he was so limited and so beautiful. And the same thing happens with Soom Kay... limited sales and the thought of 'will he ever be on sale again?' runs through my mind (excuses excuses i know haha)
I have characters for both dolls, but I had no intention of finding them so fast and so close together. I have no plans for more dolls, but i guess that depends on what the resin gods have installed for me XD.

 

Plans for the year:
-being more active in the hobby again ^-^" Successfully being more active! *-*
- buying/ordering at least one body and/or doll (most likely it will be a body) Aoi got his body
- learn how to sew and how to make my own wigs for my boys Partially successful... I now know how to make wigs but no better at sewing than before... XD
- take some photos... (probably will leave that to my bf though, he's better at taking photos) Failed at this so far... Only took some snap shots here and there but no proper photos... (Hopefully will do it before christmas though!)

It's mid-year update time!

I've received a few dolls/bodies since the last update. The Ringdolls arrived just a couple weeks shy of my longest wait for a doll (Dollshe still reigns at five months.) Also my Resinsouls have arrived, and with spring came many face ups (yes I got 4 cans of MSC)! I dyed one of the resinsouls (Sui) and he's still being worked on with acetone, qtips and lots of washing/rinsing before he goes for a second swim in the dye vat.

I've made a few wigs, received a few wigs, made a few outfits, received a few outfits, and ordered more bodies. I plan to make an order with Impldoll this fall (I'm waiting for their anniversary event!) to get what was supposed to be my last doll. I've added a couple more to my list though-- Isn't that always the way?

With the floating heads getting bodies, I have lots of hand/foot blushing to do, and some full bodies to do as well. I usually don't do full body blushing unless they're the type who have freckles everywhere, and unfortunately, I have a few who do.

The bow I was making is still almost finished. It had broken a little while sanding. I JUST fixed it earlier tonight, so I'll be able to continue working on it now.

For another character, I've started building an articulated wing frame so that I can spread or fold his wings, hopefully it'll work that way. I've also done my first ear mods, which aren't actual mods at all. I used plastic wrap to cover the head, then form the elf ear tips, then removed the plastic wrap with the tips so that now I can just glue them on with hot glue. Totally removable but they still look like the elves I want them to be.

My sewing has slowly been improving, and I've been going back through making new things for my dolls to wear to replace the old things.

I think that's all for the update. I think I need to add 'buy ten pairs of boots' because that's how many barefoot dolls I'll have by the end of the year.

 

Half-year update. Hoo boy.

Actual dolls
-Commission two wigs to be made for Oliver, maybe one for Syd (maybe commission Lélio's?) One for Kishen, one for Aruna One wig due for Oliver in end August
-Buy practically ten five pairs of eyes (Two for Oliver, one for Kishen, one for Aruna, Livnah, Syd, Lélio, Alexis...)
-Clothing. So much clothing. (What am I doing clothing wise?)
-Commission historic outfits for Kishen and Aruna (At least three?), Lélio's outfit, Andros' outfit, Livnah's outfit Pushing Kishen and Aruna's off until next year
-Get Oliver some glasses
-Andros needs a new horn
-Pls not forget to get shoes Only Oliver will be getting shoes this year
-Get Kishen's head back Fairly sure this isn't going to be happening
-Get bodies for Kishen, Alexis, Lélio, Aruna Traded Alexis, cancelled Lelio's order. Added Aruna Will probably be pushed off until next year
-Get Livnah's things preferably before he gets here Failed. He's here and bald and naked
-Commission faceup and body blushing for Livnah
-Everybody needs body blushing... Will likely be pushed off until next year, not in a place where I can do body blushing
-Figure out what I'm even doing for Syd
-Give Alexis some love this year because he's been a floating head on my shelf for like a year Traded Alexis off
-Possibly try to get Kishen and Aruna's faceups done this year
-Get Syd painted Due to be sent to be painted in August
-Get Oliver painted due to company mishap that caused him to arrive blank Due to be sent to be painted in August

Other doll things:
-Try to make a diorama for Kishen Push diorama off to next year
-Framed paintings, 'plush' chair, tiny books, tiny tea set? Next year

-Try super hard not to buy any more dolls until current ones are finished (I'm only lying to myself?) Failed.
-Invest in an airbrush
-Work towards a new camera

All that red and orange looks awfully depressing, but it's really not. Andros is just about complete now, he's just missing his primary outfit and body blushing. His body blushing I'll do when I get a house that I can do it, or invest in an airbrush. Small things like a new horn and new eyes aren't important enough right now to bother me enough. He has his secondary outfit complete, which is enough for me right now
I ended up agreeing to trade Alexis' head for a different head that I'll use for Aruna, who I've been wanting for awhile since he goes in Kishen's story. They're meant to look very much alike so anything I do/get for Kishen, I need to do/get for Aruna together.
Some issues between the dealer and the company have prompted me to see if Lélio's head can be cancelled, if not, I've decided I'll sell him completely, which clears out all Lélio's plans.
Oliver's getting there already despite just arriving a week ago, his faceup is due soon and at least one wig, he has a temp wig that works well for now. His biggest thing is needing a massive wardrobe that will be a constant work in progress, but for now, he's getting close to being complete as well. I'll be happy with one pair of eyes and an outfit by the end of the year.
Livnah is going to be my most difficult to try to complete this year, he needs everything. Eyes, commissioned clothing, wig, face and body blushing. I'll likely grab his wig and eyes in the same paycheck and maybe a cheap outfit so he's covered. The plans I have for his body blushing aren't within my ability so he'll hopefully be sent off to somebody who can do both.

If I plan things right, I'll have hopefully two-four dolls complete by the end of the year, aiming for Andros, Oliver, Livnah, and Syd, provided I choose to keep Syd and depending on how well my job hunting goes after my temp one ends

5. MSD: leggings, trousers, basic top, skirt, sandals trial pattern, dentelle shorts trial pattern.
6. F60: new t-shirts patterns - done -, new long-sleeved t-shirt pattern - done -, jersey shorts pattern - done -, sandals trial pattern.
7. Improve on face-ups.
8. Tackle 'how to make boots'
9. Tackle 'how to make wigs'.

I am quite pleased with what I have done so far. I've replaced so-so patterns with better patterns and I am in the process of replacing badly sewn clothes with better ones. I am getting a better idea of which materials and colours suit each of my crew as well. The day I'll have enough knowledge to create an entire outfit (Beach outfit & SciFi outfit for Timeless body, Bohemian outfit for TL3, Steampunk outfit for F65, 'Fluorescent/unusual/bright&cheerful outfit for B60-005, Woodman/Archer/Medieval outfit for F60 ...) from storyboard to the last stitch isn't so far away.

 

I plan to buy a fairyland littlefee Reni, I should have saved enough to order in late September or early October. I do not like the default face up though so I will need to send her off for a custom face up soon after getting her. Now I am looking at different face up artists within the UK that suit th style I am going for.

 

I'm going to be getting a Doll Family-H Chiyu, and a Dika Doll Xixi sometime next year (Hopefully Haha)

 

Revised mid-year plans:
•Continue to take stock and organize, track and report quarterly to get back into the hobby more. Very little progress since February feels discouraging so I need to get in gear!
•Write an actual plan once I've looked everything over, keep dates listed and update it!
•Start writing real character bios and keeping sketches and references in a file.
•Continue with doll photography experiments and add the chosen photos into my 'baby beginner with no DSLR advice' doll photography article I'm writing, about how to take the best photos you can with what you have. This project makes me really glad I did not get rid of my little 1/6 kitty girl. Will I ever actually sell or trade a personal doll? I may have to accept that the answer for now is "no". Every one I've said "I might" about, I've later been so glad I did not!
•Paint Unoa 1.5 faceplates. I still want at least one of each. Still on the fence about getting an Ane Unoa girl. I'd maybe rather have a 2.0.
•Welcome my Saint home as an unplanned delight and learn to just go with the flow a little more. Layaway finished, waiting for shipping notice.
•Be more active here on the forum. I'd really like to break 500 then 1000 posts by contributing and having fun here more often!

 

So here we are at a bit past the midpoint of the year... my big room boxes are not going well (the boxes themselves are not coming together as expected, and may not work out at all). I'm not going to totally give up hope on them, but I'm also not going to hold my breath on seeing them this year, if at all.

However, I do have one fairy house lantern done, and the doll that goes with it is 90% done with faceup/blushing. And I have a plan in place for the next one (and am starting to scope out parts for it). I need to do some work on the outfits for those dolls, but having them with habitats and blushed will help.

I also have three costumes nearly done, hoping to finish all three off this week. The dolls they go with aren't nearly finished, but having their clothes will help motivate me through that.

 

More than half the year's gone lol I joined the hobby this year in May so I guess my plans for the rest of the year are to:

1. Buy/make more clothes for my boy
2. Get a shelf for dolls
3. Get props bc I literally have no props

 

Seven months into the year but I am following up nicely on my personal 2017 list!

(Edit: Nov 21st update)

- Get my two blank girls new faceups (done!)
- More shoes, at least one pair for each (done!)
- Organize doll clothes (done!)
- Upgrade my girls acrylic eyes to glass eyes. (Done! But plan to buy more next year - another 2018 goal))
- Save up and post WTB thread for DOD Calla (I honestly didn't think this one would be accomplished for a long LONG time but I lucked out and got her! Done!)
- Get new outfit for Malachi. (Done!)
- Save up for Souldoll Chantal. (Still saving - moved to be a 2018 goal)
- Go through doll clothes and wigs and sort out keep from sell. (Done!)
- Switch up doll outfits twice a month.
- Work on sewing outfits (wip)

And if I get through all of that, I think that'll be enough for one year!

 

Update!

I converted my best friend. She and I are saving up for the same sculpt actually. This'll be her first BJD and she's going to be doing her own faceup so since I might be getting mine first she's gonna do my boy's faceup for me. >w> I knew I'd get 'er eventually. (Resinsoul Jian is who we chose.)

On that note I got most of the money for my boy, but I still wanna have enough so I can add on extra hands, buy him a wig that stuff. I have about $160.

 

Hmmm honestly I'm just kind of winging it Lux "needs" more clothes and accessories (and eventually a different body single jointed just ain't cuttin' it for me), Tomi needs shoes that fit and a new faceup/body blush and my incoming Souldoll Bonnie + Gana head need....basically everything including names (and another body so they don't have to share lol). We still have a good chunk of 2017 left though, who knows who else might be joining the crew! sio2's new girl Aoandon is really tempting me...

 

I'm saving up to purchase two 60 cm dolls - male and female with white skin. I want to make them into a snow prince and princess. I have the male picked out - Island doll wind Noah and will probably purchase him soon. There are several female dolls I like, but I've not decided which one I want yet. I'm tending toward one of the beautiful Maskcat dolls.

 

I report for teacher in-service starting tomorrow. Once again, I didn't accomplish even close to what I hoped to accomplish this summer, but I finally, finally, finally have a doll cabinet. It was my highest priority for the summer, so YAY! New priorities are clothes for my DIM Trisha and Granado Enoch.
