Doll Plans 2017!

I think my plan until the end of the year will be:
- purchase a wishlisted sculpt (aka. another floating head) if it pops up (done - *teary eyed* grail sculpt)
- face-up for 2 out of 3 heads that I own (done)
- clothing commission for 2 dolls (done)
- purchase three pairs of eyes (2/3)
- maybe purchase a white Switch wig if they open another pre-order by the end of the year (cancelled)
- purchase some formal slacks and a buttoned shirt (maybe shoes as well) if my doll has a face-up, wig and a pair of eyes.

 

I want to make pajamas for everyone!!

 

Before the year ends i at least wanna get a tiny bjd.

 

Okay, so I am getting lost between all the things I have made and all the things I haven't. Time for an update!
Things still to be done/made:

1. for Timeless Body: sew hood with front zip, trousers trial pattern.
2. TL3: trial pattern for trousers, remake 'varied' tops.
3. Feeple65: pullover trial pattern -done -, long sleeved t-shirt trial pattern - done -, jacket, underbust jacket - done -, peasant wide collar top pattern -done -, eyelashes, casual shorts (very short) trial pattern - done -, sandals trial pattern - done -, short skirt trial pattern - done -, underwear trial pattern - done -, long-ish knitwear dress.
4. Dollzone B60-005: t-shirts, sandals trial pattern.
5. MSD: leggings, trousers, basic top, skirt, sandals trial pattern, dentelle shorts trial pattern.
6. F60: sandals trial pattern, crochet hats, Beanies, pullover trial pattern.
7. Saintbloom: thin jeans, jacket/top.
8. Improve on face-ups.
9. Tackle 'how to make boots'
10. Tackle 'how to make wigs'.
11. Tackle 'how to make eyes'.

Aim: Beach outfit & SciFi outfit for Timeless body, outfit for TL3, Steampunk outfit for F65, Fluorescent/unusual/bright&cheerful outfit for B60-005, Woodman/Archer/Medieval outfit for F60.

 

I decided to go back and see what my list even was and how well I did on execution. XD

DONE!

Wedding dress DONE! My sister bought the background since the groom was her doll.

Mostly DONE, but still feel like I could clear out a little more. This is an ongoing task.

DONE! Taobao order #2 is currently in progress. Alyssabeth's wardrobe and faceup are not done because she's not home yet. I have a few pieces of clothing and shoes for her, but I need her in hand for making patterns.

FAILED. But that's okay because I realized MSD is really not for me.

omg LOL ... one word ... FURNITURE I have done obscenely well lately lol Just arrived are 4 wooden chairs a bench and omg a dresser that is to die for! This pic is with an Iple SID and two JID girls.. the 4 chairs are not a matched set and still in a box till i make room for them, All of my formerly 'lost' doll jewelry is in the dresser now! with room to spare. I also have a few other items 2 more chairs KID sized and a bench for the SD ladies... now if i could just lay my mits on the wigs i need/want.

1. Caspar was purchased and arrived in March.
2. He has his wig and eyes, and some clothes. (though not as many outfits or as complex of ones as I intended to make)
3. I managed to make one or two outfits for Calli. (again not as many as I planned)
4. Photoshoots and stories either pretty much did not or only barely happened. (so this kind of counts as a "Didn't get done")

Overall I didn't accomplish as much as I had planned, but looking back now I guess I really did pretty good considering how much unexpected real life disruption there was from July until the end of last month.

 

November, time for an update. Wow.

Actual dolls
-Commission Make two wigs to be made for Oliver, maybe one for Syd One Two for Kishen, one for Aruna, one for Koila One wig for Oliver due. Sold Syd.
-Buy practically ten five six pairs of eyes (One for Oliver, two for Kishen, one for Aruna, Livnah, Kiola, Syd )
-Clothing. So much clothing. (What am I doing clothing wise?) Next year
-Commission historic outfits for Kishenx2 and Aruna (At least three for Kishen, one for Aruna?), Andros' outfit, Livnah's outfit Pushing off all outfits until next year.
-Get Oliver some glasses
-Andros needs a new horn
-Pls not forget to get shoes Next year
-Get Kishen's head back Got him back!!
-Get bodies for Kishenx2, Aruna Got one body for Kishen ordered. Rest will probably be pushed off until next year.
-Commission faceup and body blushing for Livnah Won't happen this year
-Everybody needs body blushing... Will definitely be pushed off until next year, not in a place where I can do body blushing
-Figure out what I'm even doing for Syd Sold her off
-Possibly try to get Kishen and Aruna's faceups done this year Next year
-Get Syd painted Sold off
-Get Oliver painted due to company mishap that caused him to arrive blank Off with a faceup artist
-Debate whether I'm gonna keep Other Kishen

Other doll things:
-Try to make a diorama for Kishen Push diorama off to next year
-Framed paintings, 'plush' chair, tiny books, tiny tea set? Next year
-Invest in accessories
-Try super hard not to buy any more dolls until current ones are finished (I'm only lying to myself?) Failed.
-Invest in an airbrush Done
-Work towards a new camera In progress

Pretty much, I've pushed everything off until next year. Most of my plans are now dependent on if a doll I have listed sells, as that money will be put towards finishing everything else. I did manage to get Kishen's original head back, which does add a bit more plans, but it's a happy thing.
I ended up selling Syd, which clears out all those plans, but Koila came in and I honestly had forgot I even had ordered him. Fortunately, I've already done most of his things aside from buying eyes and making a wig.
Pushing pretty much everything off until next year, finances hit a bit hard, plus Oliver is out for awhile and I'm not expecting him back in time for me to really do too much else for him

 

Almost end of the year update.....

1.) I have several girls needing new faceups - Minifee Mirwen, Chloe and Rheia. So need to be not lazy and do that (of course it also needs to be not -40 in order to spray MSC) Umm... this hasn't really happened haha. Mirwen still needs a faceup, Chloe was sold and I decided I was happy with Rheia the way she is now. I do have others who need faceups now though...

2.) I also have several girls who need their first faceups - SoulDoll Junia (blushing of fantasy parts also required), F60 ID.1 head so I can finally decide if I'm keeping it or not, and my incoming Minifee Momo who just shipped today! Done! Junia did get her faceup and blushing and I'm quite happy with her! ID.1 is moving on

3.) Sewing. More and more sewing. I've actually done a bit for the Minifee the last couple months because they're the ones in the most desperate need of larger wardrobes. Now that I'm back into it and having some success I need to keep going! Some success with this, although it's been sewing for my big girls more than the minifee

4.) If we ever get the 3D printer we backed on Kickstarter I'd like to start designing and printing some props and accessories for the dolls. Also want to try my hand at some basic wood working for some simple furniture. Started. 3D printer finally arrived and is mostly working, but needs tweaking to be perfect. This will carry over to next year

5.) Come up with a good storage/display solution for all the dolls. I have a doll/sewing room that's mostly organised as far as things go, but the dolls are just sort of scattered on every available surface. Need some wall shelves! Done! Doll/sewing room is so organised, it's actually not even the same room it was at the beginning of the year. I would like more display space though, as the dolls have grown and are a bit crowded

6.) More photography, of course. Ongoing, but didn't do much of this because of awkward room mate situation for most of the year

7.) Shoes. Nope, still need

8.) May possibly switch the Minifee all to Mako eyes if I decide I'm not happy with the ones they have. Decided against

9.) Finish the alpaca wig project I started! Can't believe I almost forgot to list this... Progress made, but not finished

10.) Try really hard not to buy anymore unplanned dolls since hubby and I want to buy a house within the next year. That said I would like to acquire my dream Dollfie Dream girl (Sasara) and possibly another Minifee or two. I've been wanting a Doll Chateau girl but since I can't seem to make up my mind which one/body/colour I want this won't be high priority. I don't know to mark this done or not done, since I did acquire all mentioned dolls, but failed hard on the no more unplanned part....Sasara was acquired, I ordered a DC Xanthe, and also purchased a second hand Minifee Celine and ordered Sircca and Alicia. DD Yayoi also arrived, I have a Harucasting Geuru incoming very shortly and somehow managed to pick up a F60 Vampire Cygne and a Withdoll Priscilla. Oh and ordered a PeaksWoods Vampire Rosemii, although technically she won't be paid for or arrive until next year. I was trying to downsize, how did this happen??

 

Update again. I failed and bought yet another doll, but in my defense, I've been pining for that doll before it existed. Now I should be done with that and have finally started saving for a body for my girl. I also gave up on making her a wig and just bought one. My new head has eyes and a wig is incoming. But I really need clothes (and to get everyone painted up). Maybe I should get a sewing machine. So many plans, so little money.

 

(hopefully) get my first BJD and (maybe) attend some kind of convention!

 

Since I'm already plotting out the 2018 doll plans, I guess it's time to review my own 2017 progress:

1. All dolls have coordinating, seasonally appropriate outfits (Christmas wear, summer clothes, etc.) including shoes - FAILED
2. Better and more photos posted and shared - Mixed results: I put more photos up on another site, but not as many or as well-done as I'd hoped.
3. Only buy one doll! (This was my only goal for 2016, and instead I ended up buying four dolls, an extra body, and a head) - FAILED: I bought two dolls.
4. ...but I also want a body for my Junga Toy Skull. That's not exactly the same thing as buying a new doll, right? Right? - Mixed result: I decided recently that I wasn't as keen to buy a body for this floating head after all.
5. Doll carrier for the big Iplehouse SID that just came to live with us - FAILED but I did get a padded carrier that I can use for all of the smaller dolls.

Hmm. I didn't realize that I had wandered so far off the plan. It's definitely going to impact how I plan out next year's efforts.

 

So of course my initial plans went into the trash can, but I have lined out a nice, new plan for the remaining 7+ months of this year.
End of the year update! Honestly, I think I did much better than expected (mostly because I changed up my doll plans and this list some 7-ish months ago).

| BUYING |

• Loongsoul B-G42-03 (Nyll) - Arrived, but since my F&J head (renamed Nymeia) came in WS instead of NS, and the body is in NS it's now going to a different character. | DONE, essentially
• Dollzone B45-012 (Alphinaud) - Ordered, DZ's waiting times are long so it will probably not arrive before next year | DONE
• Fairyland Ria (Alphinaud) with a Moe body + cutie bust in NS (body for Zinnia) - Shelved for now until I get my FL MNF 2017 halloween event to check if that will work instead of Ria, and Zinnia will get a DC kid body instead | NOT DONE, plans changed.

| MAKING |

• Wigs for everyone - I purchased the alpaca hair needed for most of their wigs, just.. never got around doing it, lol | 40% done
• Eyes for everyone | 6/8 pairs DONE
• Face ups for everyone, if weather and time permits it - Once again I chickened out of trying my hand on this... | NOPE

| OTHER |

• Figuring out +56cm sculpt for Leviathan (in white skin) - I am almost considering if a smaller SD would work.. actually screw that, I might just give him a large DT body, he is canonically very, very huge anyway so he might as well truly dwarf the others. | NOT DONE

| THINGS I DID THAT WAS NOT PLANNED |

• Purchased a Souldoll Aehael head for Flannerie, realized it didn't suit her and renamed it Whitlea.
• Re-shelled Flannerie as a FL Alicia, with her body & tail going to Nymeia.
• Purchased a DZ B45-017 body alongside the B45-012 that will be going to Whitlea.
• Purchased a in-stock Fairyland bunny Momo from DDE - Alisaie.
• Purchased a Fairyland basic centaur Sirrca - Elluned.

Looking back on it, I've spent way more than I expected to this year, but I'd say about 75% of the money I've spent was from selling my SDs, so it was dolly funds anyway.

 

I over achieved this year in a way I could not have foreseen (see above) along with getting dolls "out of planned order" due to sculpts being discontinued, so I'm gonna toss a "tentative" plan to do before year end...

I am nearing the end of my 'mad money spending' time frame I allowed myself so I should get the more costly doll needs home asap... I am still working on getting hands on sold out clothing and they depend on availabity and of course... money lol. Otherwise I am ahead of things overall and didn't have a 'track' to fall off of lol... So far I did stellar this year... Lets cross fingers for Mo-a or Arvid (Duchess would be pleased if i manage this one.. XD )

 

I've placed my last doll related order for the year (it's on layaway) and I think I've stuck to my plan pretty well. The elf ear mods didn't turn out the way I wanted them to, but that's okay. I have lots of time to figure that out over the winter.

I also added five pairs of boots to one order so my barefoot hobos will have something to wear over their feet!

I still need more bodies, but that will be something to continue with next year.

 

My plan? Collect all dolls that I like. Which will never end. And much likely is not a plan.. I am hopeless.haha!!

Update on my 2017 plans.
- Buy 2 bodies for my poor floating heads (yea riiiight, like that will happen!): Done...sort of! I did buy bodies for the floating heads- however, the bodies weren't good matches colour-wise...sigh -__-
- Maybe order a Pumpkin 1/6 from DollZone: Done! Waiting for him to arrive.
- Maaaaybe order one of those massive 1/2 sized dolls from SpiritDoll: Nope. Changed my mind when I saw them in person @ DOLK and realized they are just too big for me ><
- Hopefully order that cute MSD girl, Anemone, from MaskCatDoll: Failed. I'm out of money. Will try to buy her in 2018 -__-

 

I am getting a dollzone Jamie. Will be ordering yo sd furniture that l can paint.
Find clothes and shoes. Then make up my mind what to name him Finn or Stewart. Then get a girl.

 

Although there's not much of 2017 left, I'm planning to practice making as many different types of doll clothes I can for my boy, as well as saving up the funds to buy my holy grail doll!

 

Well, we're fast approaching the end of the year so let's see how I did:

1. 2017 will finally be the year I move from collecting new resin onto journaling about their stories (adding photos and artwork to the beautiful leather-bound ChicSparrow journal I purchased especially for this purpose.) Epic fail! I went a little crazy buying new dolls this year! And it took up all my time getting each of their characters up and running, which left no time for even cracking open that journal.

2. Finish paying off my three long-term layaways that carry over into 2017. And then come to grips with the fact that my collection is finally complete and resist the urge to buy more resin! Well, I did manage to pay off ALL my many layaways, even the ones I added this year. But as I mentioned above, I totally failed at resisting new resin!

3. More sewing of course, although I plan to slow down a little from my complete sewing frenzie in 2016. A partial fail I'm afraid. Adding so many new dolls meant adding new wardrobes, so I sewed at a fevered pace throughout most of 2017. But I have finally slowed down in the last quarter of the year...thank goodness! And buying more shoes of course...my crew always needs more shoes! Done, for this year at least.

4. I did formal DoA profiles for about half my crew in 2016, and I need to work on getting more done in 2017. Another epic fail. I was so busy with new dolls, I never uploaded a single new profile.

5. I desperately need to finish face-ups, artwork and mods on any incomplete dolls. Done! And it was a lot considering all the new dolls I added this year. I only have one remaining...but that's only because I haven't completely nailed down her character yet, so her faceup is on hold until next year.
