    1. What a fun topic.
      :kitty1

My plans for the next year:
      - Not allow myself to buy a new doll for myself for a year.
      - Except, I'm wanting to put into doll form my husband's fav character from the Warhammer 40K: Harlon Nayl. Then give it to him as a gift.
      - Learn to sew doll clothes, make wigs and eyes, maybe faceups and blushing a too.
      - Create a doll comic, possibly post it to Tapas.

Basically get my doll journey rolling. :evilplot:

    2. My main goal is getting everyone what they need. I have a minimum wardrobe requirement for each doll to own, and I just did my "inventory" and my boys are seriously lacking in pants and shoes. A few need shirts, my newest boy needs literally everything. I'll buy most of it, though I might make a few things, and I do plan to learn more about making eyes.

I checked both "buy new dolls" AND "don't buy new dolls", because I am overall happy with my crew and I don't want to impulse buy more dolls. There is one doll I'm going back and forth on buying (actually, rebuying--I owned her a few years ago, and I miss her.) So she's the only one right now that I'd say I may plan to buy next year. If any others pop up, then some of my current crew will be on the chopping block, because setting a limit on total dolls is definitely on my list!

    3. I am hoping to get a set of new soft pastels for christmas to replace the very cheap ones I have been learning with, so my main plan for the coming year is to redo some of my earlier faceups because I am sure I could do better now!

I don't think I am planning on getting any more dolls for a little while, unless fairyland do a tan a la carte littlefee event, which they have not done for a long time! But I am pretty happy with the rest of my collection at the moment.

I do have two dolls still making their way to me, and one who is out getting modded but she should be home soon too.

    4. My plans for 2022 are similar to this year's with the general goals of refining my collection and getting more of them finished. In detail that means:

      In terms of collection refining:
      1. Receive Doll Leaves Laura Done! (Arrived 1/6/22)
      2. Receive Granado tiny Shadow Done! (Arrived 1/7/22) And Granado tiny Lucent
      3. Decide if a Granado tiny can be a re-shell for Lin, and if Doll Leaves Laura can be an aesthetic replacement for Ephemera.
      4. Sell any dolls I decide to let go of (1 sold in February, 1 sold in March)

      In terms of finishing:
      5. Do face-ups! I have so many blank dolls. (The number is close to 20. Yikes)
      6. Buy wigs for Kit, Kali,(Done!)
      7. Receive my Asleep Eidolon order, hopefully with hands that will fit Jin and eyes for Ethan Done! (Arrived 1/18/22) Jin has new hands! The eyes don't work for Ethan. Oh, well. But the resin ones meant for another doll do, so he finding him proper eyes is done!
      8. Buy eyes/wigs for any new dolls
      9. Sew more clothes

      In terms of new dolls:
Dream Valley Howard II head with Dream Valley 3-arm male body, in grey (Ordered 2/19/22)
Unplanned Dream Valley Rubin pet doll also ordered with him
Either receive or cancel my Dollshe tiny Hound (Cancelled in May)
My main next two wish list dolls are a Vieroudis from Myou, and an MSD with bird/dragon feet and horns. I thought that a custom color Resin Soul doll would be that, but I like Soom's Zedo's feet much more. Maybe Resin Soul would be willing to customize the feet if I ask? Hmmm...
      There may be more...
Ordered Nekomata from CIrque de Fantomes 1/26/22 Arrived 2/2/22 (Now he needs some sanding work)

And then there's Kali's dollhouse project...

    5. Ooo future plans... This coming year will be year three for me in the BJD hobby and there is a lot.
My first year was focused on acquiring dolls, get the lot eyes, wigs, some clothes, and meet the doll's characters.
Year two has been matching clothes with characters, rounding out the cast, acquiring materials+tools, and dusting off my art/craft skills to use in doll contexts.
This coming year is time to make decisions about which dolls to work on, and finding the balance between new things and finishing existing ideas. I want to keep that sense of wonder and endless possibilities and also actually get stuff done. Some days I can't get much of anything done so I really don't expect it to all happen within the coming year.
If i did get all of that done in a year it would be a miracle.
Good luck to all of us!

    6. Next year, I'm hoping to put together a doll for a character of mine. This includes learning to do a faceup, making wings, and sewing an outfit. I have the body, and a potential head on the way. So now I have to collect the art supplies and develop the skills.

I'm also hoping to put out a WTB for a grail of mine for another character.

    7. Definitely accessories... I want to focus on the dolls I have, and make sure they're well taken care of. If the dolls I really want come out on preorder, I want to make sure I get them too. But even for those dolls, they'll need accessories, wigs, eyes, clothes, etc., right? So I want to get good at making clothes and wigs. Or at least decent. :)

    8. I plan on not buying anymore dolls (maybe just a Supia if I'm lucky), and rather focus on getting my dolls some clothes. I want to sew them many outfits and make furniture and such, for a diorama. Hopefully some cool photos! I just hope I have the time for all of this. I also hope to learn wig-making since I can't find styles that suit my tastes. Overall, I'm gonna focus on decking out the dolls I have.

    9. ...I have an off-topic doll and a Frappzilla Lupi coming soon-ish. So. I spent too much on both of those, plus my pitusa Somni PLUS the girl who finally came last year and NONE of them are going to be adequately clothed. The off topic girl and Somni will both have like. One outfit each. Oh yeah, and the 30cm MYOU girl I got back in 2019 isn't adequately clad either. And probably needs a new faceup. Heh.

Provided I can persuade my hyperfocus to help me out, I got a LOT of sewing that will need to happen! plus wig buying or making. plus faceups. plus....

    10. In previous years I've always said "NO MORE DOLLS!" but every time I'm wrong. So I'm not even gonna bother this time, lol

There are a few dolls I've been following throughout their production that I'm actively planning on buying in 2022 once they come out!

Maydoll's 1/4 anime catgirl is supposed to be released in early 2022, so I'm waiting with baited breath for that release!

Also Dollsbe's Cucumber, who I've been waiting for since I saw WIP photos last year.

But mostly I want to continue to trend of getting more cute outfits for my dolls instead of dolls themselves... I sort of blew off good outfits when I first joined the hobby, but after getting a couple I'm hooked. Mostly because I'm bad at putting together outfits myself, lol

And finally I'll be picking at the body I started sculpting this year. Not sure if I'll finish it or cast it any time soon, but I'd like to work on it.

    11. Learn face ups! A face up YouTube channel got me into this hobby and I’ve always wanted to try it. I recently learned a friend of mine used to collect (although I might have accidentally gotten her back into it) and she used to do face ups. She encouraged me to try it so… If this fails, I’ll take a picture for posterity and wipe her. It’s not like the doll will get any blanker. :sweat

    12. I would like to say no more dolls but I know that probably won't work. I thought I was picky and then all the companies started making elf eared dolls!

But I do have like a running list of to-dos:
      1) buy a body for my one floating head
      2) get my one doll a face-up
      3) try to sell any clothes/wigs/heads/dolls I don't like
      4) maintenance...just sit down and glue the magnets, glue the eyelashes, just do it (I am so lazy though)
      5) make an inventory of everything I own and if possible what I paid for it (this is also for my family who if I die before them, would know what to do with it all)
      6) BUY DOLL STANDS SO EVERYONE CAN STAND IN PHOTOS
      7) Sort and organize all the dollie possessions

    13. My 2022 hopeful list:

I'd like to either do or commission the faceups for the dolls I currently have - at least 3 DDs and 2 resins
Restringing, sueding, and other general maintenance
Start buying dolls for this story idea I'm kicking around (I think I finally found one!). If this happens, I'm obviously going down the rabbit hole of eyes/wigs/clothes/etc...
Potentially look into insuring my doll collection (in the event of a disaster, I'd sure like my money back)

    14. My plans for 2022 are:
-To get a body for my floating head
-either do my own faceup or get it commissioned. I just know I want to redo the faceup but a little sad since it’s pretty but not what I want/style I like. I had to pay extra for it since it was grail doll and there rarely any for sale.
-I want to start to make my own knitted clothes. I know how to crochet but I don’t like the look of crochet for doll clothes. I suck at sticking with knitting so this will be hard but I hope I can achieve it since I love the look of knitted sweaters and hats
-I want to learn how to make doll size rings and maybe some other jewelry

    15. I don't really have very specific plans for my doll collection in the next year but I want to focus on expanding the wardrobe of my four dolls at home. One of my favourite things to do in this hobby is changing the outfits of my dolls, so having even more variety is always a good thing and I'm really looking forward to it!

Besides that - I'm very content with my collection right now :3nodding: But if Volks were to open an international pre-order for an SD17 Reisner, I'd definitely consider buying him. He's the only sculpt left that I'm very interested in adding to my collection since I already have a character for him in mind.

      • Sell my Luts SDF65 Raven Romance boy and the Luts Summer '09 hybrid I impulse bought
      • Commission outfits for at least three of my girls (Korinna, Magda, Judit)
      • Get all of them shoes...
      • Get new faceups for two of them (Agnes and Wolfgang)
      • Figure out the perfect wig for Erzsi
      • Buy no more than three new dolls (preferably a Volks SD-F-34, Migidoll Vicente, and a Maskcat Juni)
      • Buy a body for my one floating head (Luts Diez W)

I'd estimate all of this will cost in the 3-3.5k range :aeyepop: So maybe I should actually adjust my goals... eek

    16. My first priority is giving a body to a character of my story that's still a floating head. Then, give everyone eyes, proper wigs and their story related clothes! And... Faceups. There's so much to do.
I don't plan to buy any "new" doll, just the body for the head I already have.

    17. Right, let's see how many of these I stick to, as I always write one of these out and never seem to do any of them:

      1) Welcome two new dolls purchased this year (Charmdoll Carson and Mystic Kids Cris)
      2) Sew clothes for my Carson
      3) Organise face-ups for Carson and Cris
      4) Sell the unwanted dolls/heads/accessories
      5) Photograph them more
      6) Work on my Capcom boys; sew clothes for them
      7) Possibly try my hand at sewing 1/6 clothes for Cris
      8) Possibly venture out with Cris for outdoor shoots or meet-ups
      9) Tying in with '8'; figure out a carrier to allow Cris to travel in style and comfort.

I think, basically, 2022 will be more about the dolls already here or incoming. And sewing. Lots and lots of sewing.

    18. Well this year was my first in the hobby so I think it’d be interesting to do this and see how I stick to it!

      1) I should actually have my first dolls arrive early next year (or so I’m hoping!) So my priority is to get them eyes, wigs, accessories and clothes, as well as get all my materials ready to do my first faceups!

      2) do all of that, basically. Do the faceups & dress them, start bonding with them basically.

      3) maybe grow my collection a little? One little project doll and one msd doesn’t seem like much and I’ve already seen a few that I’d like to add to my collection if I can find them for the right price. I have set myself a limit of 5 or 6 total and a size limit of MSD (as well as a limit of 2 additions per year maximum) at most though I’m not sure I’ll always stick to it. And I’m not sure whether that’ll include project dolls / artists that aren’t included on here yet or just a limit for on-topic dolls only.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see but these are my goals for next year!

    19. Definitely planning on purchasing new accessories and clothing, as well as making my own! When I first got into the hobby, I made a good chunk of my dolls clothes, but I fell out of sewing as a hobby. I think making some simple items might be a fun way to get back into it. Also, set-creation is also a big thing on my to-do list as well...
