Doll plans 2022

I need to add a couple points.

10) Organise face-up for the Granado Pluto head I've recently bought.
11) Find/make a wig for Granado Pluto head.
12) Look at learning to knit and/or loom.
13) Save up for a Granado body, or one to hybrid with Granado tan.

 

My DearSD girl will be complete once her socks and shoes from Etsy come in, so my plan is to save all year and then maybe buy her a friend as a christmas present for myself

 

This last year I got/completed the most dolls I've ever had-got bodies for two long floating heads, just finished a layaway for two more, and started a layaway for another that will probably be split, head and body, into two different dolls. I also bought a doll from a friend. I desperately need to spend this year sewing! And I need to figure out some sort of safe storage system-all the dolls mentioned are SDs and I'm running out of room, so I need to do a display rotation. Besides that, I am going to try making eyes, and make another go at a ventilated wig (my old eyes need some sort of magnification to pull that off). Also, going to continue my ongoing quest to make my faceup eyebrows and eyelashes finer-that's the only thing I still have trouble with. I have one floating head I'm actively looking for a body for, but I'm almost done shelling all my characters, so I think the end is in sight-short of changing/refining them.

 

I have a few of them. I am not sure how many I will be able to complete.

1. Complete my first doll (hybrid). Finishing buying her outfits and wig. Take good pictures of her once she's completed.
2. Get a body for the second floating head I bought impulsively. And finish her character design.
3. Learn to create some doll stuff like wigs, resin eyes or accessories for my two dolls.
4. If i have enough time, create a box room for them.

 

I spent 2021 buying new dolls and building up on wardrobes and accessories for all of my collection.

2022 I plan to continue building on my doll collection by adding around 2-3 more boys, and then finally build on my doll "setup" at home so that I have ample room for everyone.

I also hope to do some more writing for my dolls' (current and upcoming) stories and backgrounds.

 

who knows if i'll actually be able to stick to anything but at least writing it down holds me a little accountable lol

1:limit myself to buying only two new dolls next year
2:buy more clothes, shoes, accessories ect. for the dolls i already have
3:work on making more space, i bought some glass fronted ikea cabinets early this year and STILL haven't gotten around to puting them up
4:photograpgh and share my dolls more!

 

I voted "buy new dolls" and "not buy new dolls", is that normal? XD
No, otherwise my goal is to find the perfect stuff for my dolls whose custo is not finished. So :

- Find the perfect wig for Ophelie
- Dress up Ophelie and Tauros
- Take pictures with my new camera
- Don't spend too much money...
- Or sell a lot XD

 

My vote just went to buying and crafting accessories... though I'll be honest with you. If I can find the perfect sculpt for Aether maybe he'll come home. My Genshin anemo crew just won't be complete without him. I've been gone from the hobby since 2019 basically, though I did sell and buy a couple of dolls in the meantime so there is a LOT that needs doing. And I mean A LOT. That being said, and in a little more detail:

• Finish repainting EVERYONE. Like, literally, wipe every old and damaged faceup and bodyblushing and just DO IT.
• Finish the wigs for Xiao, Kazuha, Alya, Nemu, Naoya and brush and style the rest of them.
• Clothes, just, clothes for everyone but especially the big SDs since they don't have much to their name.
• Finish crafting Venti's lyre... maybe tackle Kazuha's zither too, if I'm feeling particularly suicidal.
• At least TRY to take photos again. I haven't taken proper doll photos for even longer than I've been gone for god's sake.

 

At this point, I have two heads in need of bodies. My mnf vampire Alan will get a body I'll buy (mostly likely myoudoll, or maybe charmdolls or dollzone if I can find those second hand in europe). My mnf Juri 2020 I hope to sculpt a body for (in fact, I've already started. It's... going to be a long process because I'm not super good at this). I might also buy a myoudoll Vieruodis in tan or coffee

On top of sculpting a 1/4 body for that mnf head, I'm also working on a mature 1/6 fat female doll, and I'd like to finish and cast it in 2022. I'm not aiming at perfection since I just want to make a doll for myself, so hopefully that should be achievable?

I also need shoes. So many shoes. And since several of my dolls have 'odd' feet sizes, and I don't like a lot of what's available, I guess I'll have to learn how to make my own in 2022.

More generally, I hope to make new clothes for some of my more neglected dolls. And I might end up trying to sell my Doll Chateau Hilary if I can't figure out how to customise it.

 

This year I am going to learn to sew. I made her a pair of pants this morning! They are far from perfect, but at least they cover her knees. I also plan on learning to faceup, build furniture, and further flesh out her character. Not planning on buying any new dolls, just stuff for her. I want to make sure it *sticks* first.

 

As always, there are a few of the crew who could really use new faceups... and I'll keep looking for the few "would like to haves" that I still haven't found. I'd also like to cull the existing herd a bit, but we'll see how that goes.

Otherwise? No definite plans at this point...

 

My plans for 2022 are an extension of my 2021 plans

Buy new dolls / Don't buy new dolls: Most of my wishlist are discontinued sculpts or from defunct companies, so any dolls I buy will be new to me but not "new" I want to fill in more of the gaps.
Sculpt things: No plans for a full doll here but hopefully spare hands and some torsos to display my head collection instead of them hanging out on ink bottles!
Buy accessories: I have loads of doll shoes! Alas, a lot of them are now damaged due to their age/got stained being near a bad pair/the wrong size and gender for the dolls that actually need shoes...
Other: I want to kit out a bookcase as a doll display & room setup, with a box of furniture I can swap with to make several spaces depending on who's turn it is for photos!
Also other: post those photos more often

 

My 2022 plan is pretty simple: buy way less dolls than I did in 2021. I still have many dolls that will not come in until sometime in 2022, so it’s not like I should feel like I’m not getting anything new. I want to try to keep new purchases to 4-5 dolls max, with one of them being Harucasting Thx if she is available to buy at some point.

I want to focus on being more financially responsible and building a savings to fall back on in case of an emergency, not just spending every bit of my extra money on dolls and video games.

Plus I am eventually going to run out of space for them in my current living situation. I can’t continue at the pace I was buying dolls at, because to me, if I don’t have room to display a doll, and have to store it away in a closet, I shouldn’t be getting that doll in the first place. (Just a rule for myself and how I enjoy my dolls, that’s definitely not meant to be a knock on anyone that does keep them stored away. My brain just doesn’t remember things exist if I can’t actively see them )

 

My 2022 wish/resolution is to downsize my doll collection lol I have too many at this point. 3 AS SD girls + 2 ID75 size dolls (a Luts GSDF and an ID75) + 1 LS 73 + 1 Luts SDF65. Not counting floating heads.... I've been trying to sell one of my girls but have not succeeded so far Also, I'm still deciding if I want to sell my Luts SDF65. If I have to move with them across the country, it'd be a mess alone lol

 

2022 goal: I have lots of gorgeous fabric. I have lots of amazing doll books with sewing patterns. I have a sewing machine and can also hand sew pretty well. If I could just combine these three things...

 

Well, this year my collection is undergoing a big change, so... let's see what we have in our to do list xD

• This year I want to keep on making wigs till I make one that fits what I have in my head for the new character my girl has changed into. DONE!
  
• I want to buy a bunch of clothes that I've been window-shopping for months now. DONE!
• I want to send my boy to an artist to give him a new face-up and professional wig for his new character (short wigs are not exactly my thing for now). DONE!
  
• When everyone is complete again, I want to take a ton of pictures. Maybe consider opening an IG account just for my dolly stuff.

...Not as bad as I thought. I will give myself a pass this year on the lack of crafting / posting, because I had even less time. The great American switcheroo didn't fall in my line of work's favor, thus the rest of us have to make up for empty positions.

I really want to sculpt that chin cuff. It's been on my to-do list for... how many years now? Hopefully my epoxy hasn't dried out.

This was a season of change for me in BJDs. In 2020 I said I was going to downsize, and I've managed to stick by that. The amount of resin purchases I made even decreased. Unfortunately some of the things I went for this year were more expensive, so I missed out on things like the Minifee hooves, finally commissioning someone else to do a faceup, or commissioning more wigs/eyes/clothes. The group isn't as small as I want it to be, and it's getting harder to make choices, but I hope I'll be able to stick with it for at least another year and figure out what works. In 2023 I am planning to change jobs, so I must be financially conscious and budget with this in mind.

In 2022 though, my goals are...

I’d like to buy another MSD, but mostly I want to focus on building props, environments, and dioramas for my dolls for photoshoots. I have a few half-finished projects that I need to actually finish, so that’s my priority for 2022.

 

I almost doubled my collection in 2021 despite selling a few of my purchases, so I wish to restrict getting new dolls a lot. (A couple grails popped up for sale, then I got gifted a doll and then I just had a random idea to have a custom sculpted doll, which gave me an excuse to start shelling a new doll story - lots of things.) Here's my to-do:

-Wishlist: to buy a Twigling Ingenue in purple and to participate in the Rugged Realism Rites of Passage preorder. No other acute wishes except if Soom releases a Garion, I will probably have to snag him.
-Before putting funds towards new dolls, finish existing doll outfits and props, learn to craft the necessary, and for those you cannot craft, raise funds to commission the necessary parts.
-Get faceups done or renewed on the few that need it done, and get chest blushing done on all dolls during summer.
-Sell some of the unnecessary stuff that you've collected that fits no one.
