1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Storage

Jul 25, 2020

    1. I ended up getting a small human jewelry organizer for the dolls' jewelry, too (Barbie, BJD, and everything in between). It's a little plastic set of drawers, and it is astonishingly sturdy, considering how cheap it was. It's currently $35.99 (USD) on Amazon, but there's a 30 percent off coupon.
@TheBlueWazaga - that is a brilliant suggestion, and I might have to copy you.

I also purchased plastic craft organizers for my extra hands and feet (an Instagram buddy refers to me as "The Dolly Dahmer" because of my obsession with optional hands/feet), and I re-use packing paper/bubble wrap/tissue paper from orders to protect the smaller, more delicate hands.

Wigs remain a conundrum... I have them in bags by size, and digging through them is a pain. I love swapping wigs, because it changes the whole look of a doll, and I've already destashed the ones I don't like.

@Arekushia - I'm copying that idea, too. I have several Lolita-inspired outfits now, and buddy, does a 1/3-scale Lolita-ish dress take up space when it's not on a doll.

    4. I lately got IKEA wardrobe and turned it into a dollhouse. I use limited space left in the bottom for storage. I’m trying to not own more than I can contain there, with exception of seasonal decorations, resting furnitures and carrying basket sit on top of the armour. :) I use fancy paper storage boxes from craft store to organise clothes and accessories :)

    5. I keep all my dolls boxes for storage. I don’t feel comfortable keeping them on display because of the house we live in right now. So I keep them in their original boxes. I like to think of them as their little homes.

    6. All my dolls live in their boxes or cricut storage bags. I can fit 2 dolls (60cm) into the bag plus some of their clothing, oh and they have their pillows inside too. It's great! Now to fit my boys into other bags and hope that they fit with their pillows and clothes as well. My boys are on the larger size, 63cm+. It's more convent for me, especially when traveling to meetups

    7. I'm trying to put my dolls up in my closet on the shelf- my closet has curtains and no doors so they can be on display but I can close the curtains. But I realized the shelf isn't straight and droops in the middle. So I'm making something to help me feel assured with them being up there without falling

    8. We are up to four Billy book cases with glass doors for my partner's and my dolls. I'm trying to turn each shelf into its own "room" but I've only accomplished that with one book case so far.

They all fit nicely along this wall in our crafting space.

    9. As of right now all of my dolls are in boxes either in my closet or on a shelf near my desk. The goal for this year is to get some kind of cabinet or something so that I can store them elsewhere in my house out on display rather than in their boxes.

    10. My storage is just one closet with a few rods for clothes that need to hang on hangers and lots of paper and fabric drawers for everything else. My dolls sit on the couch on the floor.

    11. I have all my dolls inside their boxes. It's uncomfortable to have to take them out when I want to see them, but I never get around to the idea of exposing them to dust and light because I'm very afraid of them getting dirty or turning yellow. The one I bought second-hand was delivered to me very yellow and with a lot of scratches, and I am terrified that the doll and the head that I bought this Christmas could end up like this, so I keep them with great care, as if I could break them with a look. I'm afraid I'm very obsessive...

    13. I have my dolls in their boxes in a bigger box under the bed most of the time, due to lack of space in our current flat.
I do dream of having a whole doll room or at least a lovely cabinet where they could have their own little ''apartment'' that I could just close the doors to when not playing with them to protect them from dust and direct sunlight :chibi but that dream has to wait a few years until it can blossom into reality...

    14. My dolls are displayed in wood cabinets with glass doors. The clothes are in decorative boxes on top of the cabinets. I have a box for yosd size and box for 1/8 size, a box for wigs, and a box for shoes and other small accessories. I have a lined earring display box for eyes.

    16. Daiso is such a life saver when it comes to storage solutions in my experience. I have three shelves in my closet totally full of plastic drawers and containers for doll clothes, shoes, wig storage, accessories, heads, you name it. For smaller bits I also love to reuse packaging like jewelry containers for eyes. The dolls themselves usually sleep in their carriers/boxes when not on display. Otherwise they're in my Ikea display case or sitting on a shelf in my room :D.

    17. I have wardrobe just for the dolls and crafting supplies, but I don't keep majority of the company boxes and shipping boxes except the small ones. Not anough space, unfortunately. I know original box can add to re-sell value, but so far I have never sold any doll nor I am planning to. It won't be an issue, I suppose. If I need to move any dolls I just wrapp them into towels/towel.

    18. Many years ago, I kept my dolls neatly tucked in their boxes but I felt bad for not playing with them so I got a bookshelf. They sit out all the time. I have 2 Volks stands on my desk and regularly rotate who is on the desk. The clothes, shoes, wigs and props are stored in clear plastic bins. The extra heads are in boxes or bins and get rotated out to the shelf once a quarter or so.

      here’s my crew, hanging out.
