1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll Storage

Jul 25, 2020

    1. I have a new entry/recommendation for doll wig storage, but only for sizes 6-7 and up (without sewing): sock organizers. Those cheap fold-up sock organizers with a zipper at the bottom are perfect for doll wigs. I discovered this last night. I covered each wig in a hair net, rolled it up into a ball, and stuck it in the sock organizer.

Unlike heads, which are heavy and fall to the bottom, wigs are light, and friction will hold them in place. I'm hoping that the hair net protects the hair from going full Albert Einstein on me. Caveat: I don't own any super fancy styled wigs. This probably wouldn't work for those.

Now I can see my wigs, cuz the top is open, and swap with abandon. They're light and stackable.

Smaller wigs will still fall to the bottom. I tried hand sewing a divider to the bottom using a simple basting stitch and making a knot every couple of stitches. It worked fine, but I ran out of patience after one row. Because I have only a few dolls who wear wigs that small, I just tossed the tiny wigs into a shoe-sized clear plastic tub.

Oh - I did have a wig or two that was still in its plastic bag with the cardboard protector. Those fit in the sock divider just fine.

Also, someone also mentioned the cup holders, right? I totally snagged that idea for my floating heads, and it works like a dream. I saw someone on Insta used wine glass protectors for their 1/6 scale fashion dolls, and I think that's super clever. I just don't have enough BJDs in that size for it to be worth my while.

    2. Right now, most of mine are in plastic totes. I hate this for 2 reasons, 1) I don't get to hold them, talk to them, play with them, etc. and 2) The whole reason they're in there is because we're in a crappy apartment that gets humid as hell and is NOT our forever home. I'm hoping this will change soon.

Anyway, each tote is labeled, and I put that label on each doll's entry on my spread sheet; so I know exactly where to find each one.

    3. This is my big pain. I have a fairly large room, but not enough closets. I'll have to buy a new one, then maybe I'll enjoy my hobby again.
