1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollmaster movie

Aug 23, 2004

    1. I've heard of it and I really want to see it ^_^ I loved the Chucky movies, they were hilarious (still have to see Seed of Chucky), so with BJD's that would be wicked cool!

I just gotta say though, your user icon is so appropriate for this topic!

    2. aww.. your waiting for U??? AWESOME!!! I AM SO JEALOUS!! *sniffles*.. your so lucky... I really want a U and name him Eden.. i was in the process of save up to buy him... but I changed my mind.. cause my Cyber is driving me nuts about getting him a girl friend.. so... my next doll has to be a girl.. .. Siva is in love and he has a boyfriend.. but Cyber needs a girlfriend... so.. I think for my third bjd I am going to save up for a girl.. *nods*... I even came up with a name!! Her name will be Ava!!! *nods*

    3. Eeee~! I can't wait to watch it! Good thing I can borrow Doll Master from my friend or buy it; I would love to watch it with my baby on my lap.

    4. lol! awww he wants a girlfriend? Thats so cute ^ ^ And Ava is such a pretty name! I was thinking about getting a girl next time so Kiatou could have a sister ^ - ^

    5. Since this came up... isn't it true that Doll Master was liscenced? Any more news on that...?

    6. hum... I am not sure.. but I would also like to know more info on this~!

    7. You can get the movie on ebay for around $6-8.00 but beware..the original movie was a 2 disk set which inc. a lot of extras esp. a couple of segments with interviews on how CH makes their BJDs. Though the movie itself is subtitled, the "extra' stuff is in Korean only.

There is a UK release of the film with all thextras, but I don't know when it will be released in the US as a 2 disk set. (The UK ver. is PAL/Region2)

The copies on ebay are all just the movie.

Here is part of a review that talks about BJDs in the "interview" portion of the 2nd disk:

(quote) Interview with the film's Doll Maker
Ball joint doll maker, Baek Kyoung-sook explains a little about the history of ball joint dolls and how popular they are as collector’s items in Korea. Due to the sad nature of the film she made approximately one hundred dolls with sad faces to reflect a kind of melancholy. She then mentions the difficult task of trying to create a doll in the likeness of Mina and goes on to talk about the creative process. Clearly she’s passionate about her work and we see the amount of detail and care put into these dolls it’s all very impressive. Doll make-up artist, Han Se-ra is interviewed next. She talks about what kind of paints are used and how they are applied, before we go back to Kyoung-sook who tells us that these dolls are hobbies and that people generally have no idea how to look after ball joint dolls. With a little love and sandpaper you can do anything with them. (quote)

YesAsia has the 2 disk version for around $23.00 but it is "Region 3" so..if you don't have a mult-region dvd player, or know how to re-author dvds in your computer, it will not be playable.

The movie rights have been bought by Hollywood, and from what I heard, is starting production as we speak.
The Q is, will they use SD BJDs in the US movie? Since SD's have a more or less "Western" face, there is a good possiblity. However, they could just as well use ANY doll as long as it's fairly large. They might even design dolls esp. for this film.

One thought: I am sure the org Korean "Doll Master" was a collaberation between CH and the film co. as they supplied all the dolls and were profiled in the movie credits. Maybe CH had to be inc. in this new deal for a US movie too. This of course, would give them a HUGE advertisement for the US doll market.

Can't wait to see the first trailers for the film, as this will prob. answer our Q's about the use of SD's in the movie.

    8. I haven't found mention on DOA of the scene where Haemi and the husband guy flee the house at the end and we get a close up of the 'virgin Mary'/kimono doll statue in the garden and Haemi destroys it, there is some speech just before this where it appears they realise something about this statue, my subtitles have kicked out here too, would appreciate if anybody could let me know what is said here. :)

    11. what is the doll master? movie about?

    12. i finally got it and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-!-!-!-! :D it was such a beautiful movie. i want 1 of those huge bjd's that was built into the walls and light fixtures.
i had a question though the actual mina doll was she a sd dollfie or msd dollfie? because she looked kinda small compared to the others in the movie (all the dollfies on that work bench did)
and also (those that have seen it will know what i mean) but do any of you feel psycicly connected to your dolls like they have their own souls?

    13. Mina is SD sized. Um...I suppose on some level you could call it a soul.

    14. ok thankies for that
      also was this
      [IMG]
the scene that was cut from the movie? it looks like the huge possesed Bjd finaly came out of the closet (and toilet) and attacked. i coulden't get the original so i guess that was the scene because that wasn't in the movie or the deleted scenes
      what actualy happens?

    15. Hiya

If you bought this film in the UK, then there is alot cut out of it around 8 mins I think.. I got mine from Japan/Korea and was uncut, but my friend got hers here and was cut, she took it back saying about the parts missing and they gave her her money back... as it doesnt say it on her copy...

I havent seen the cut copy but think as friend saw the full that quite a bits cut out..

      but still a brill film..

      :daisy
