It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Dollmore Glamor Model Doll Nayuta Kenzo

Sep 23, 2008

1. I am fight this battle on false advertising!

to andarton seriously if your brother and you are both the same sitting height than Id suspect there is some major medical problem with one or both of you.... thats a 10" difference! thats just wrong! as an artist I learnt this at a very early age, humans are regularly quite proportional... we are different yet the same!
this isnt meant to be a slur... but really what you are saying for humans isnt very normal

deadselly I WISH I had seen those post earlier. I have one doll... and his measurement ARE what resinsoul says they are!

we are a world wide customer base there isnt any excuse why companies would be sooo unreliable with correct measurement

as my husband said... he'd be is serious trouble at his work if he was out by a cm.... and 3 cm of error would be grounds for firing!

2. Hawthorn - I'd like to remind you that dollmore sells to hundreds of happy customers a month, and after probably selling over a thousand model dolls, you are the first person to complain. Please don't expect them to cater to you immediately.
Please remain patient and kind as you communicate with them. This is frustrating for you, I can tell, but please remember that you are communicating with the owner (who probably does not speak or understand english that well), and not a customer service representative. Making a single customer happy is not going to be their top priority.

I am not invalidating your argument, but just pointing out to you that it seems you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. It is a huge detriment to you, but coming from dollmore's side- you are one customer out of numerous. Please remember that.

If the size is really upsetting you that much, I believe it would be faster for you to mod your doll's torso to lift a few more centimeters, then spend corresponding with an artist that is not making you a priority. Check out the modding section of doa, you can find a lot of tutorials and advice on how to regain the couple of centimeters that is upsetting you so greatly.

Furthermore, If it's really dollmore's false advertising of the size, why not pass around a petition for dollmore to revise their measurements listed on their site? Showing dollmore that this is a larger concern to their target customers will be more persuasive than one irritated customer.
Being proactive on the issue rather than slandering the company will be exponentially more beneficial, as it is a more professional and mature approach to getting the concern across. Dollmore will be more likely to consider taking action.

3. I also went to art school and have been drawing and studying anatomy for over fifteen years now. I am well aware of how human proportions work and would appreciate if you didn't insult me or my family simply because we are not proportioned exactly the same way. People vary a lot if you look closely. Some people have very long legs or very long torsos. There is nothing 'wrong' about that kind of variation in distribution of height.

I am sorry that you are displeased with your doll but I have never seen anyone else complain about the height distribution until now.

It really depends on the field you work in. With mathematical endeavors, accuracy is all-important, but I have found that within artistic communities there is more room for error and it is more commonly accepted.

And I have to agree with Knibitz about the petition idea. If it truly bothers you, that would probably be the better approach! Handling things in a positive and agreeable manner will generally win over more allies and make people more cooperative :)

4. I can vouch for Andarton's height difference with his brother because he's my room mate. His mother is also 5'8" and two inches taller than he is, and yet she's several inches shorter than him while sitting. He comes from a family of people with long legs and short torsos. There is no medical condition involved, and I find that remark fairly inflammatory. Body types and sizes vary a lot and it isn't always the result of a medical condition. Considering that humans have such a wide variety of shapes and sizes, I would expect that a stylized sculpt of a human would also include that - perhaps even to an exaggerated degree. And my expectations would be correct.

As for measurement differences, I assume your husband works in America. I already mentioned cultural differences, and Andarton and Knibitz have pointed out that Dollmore's customer base is an entirely happy one - despite differences in their measurements. In those other threads I linked, there wasn't a trace of anger or sarcasm... everyone mentioning the discrepancies was doing so in a very relaxed manner. It is because, I think, that most people understand that there is not always an exactness to these measurements. And while that is unfortunate, it is something you learn to live with.

I'm glad to hear that Resinsoul's measurements are correct. My AoD Chen's measurements were also correct. But there are other companies besides Dollmore who do not list correct measurements. And like I said, that is why we have a wonderful forum full of fantastic information on pretty much every sculpt and company. Do I think that Dollmore should update their measurements? Yes, of course. I wholeheartedly agree with you. It would be great if every company everywhere told us exactly what we needed to know so that when they said "Our product is the best," you could take them at their word and purchase without fear. Unfortunately we don't live in that kind of world, so it's best to research as much as possible before spending $600 on a luxury item.

5. What hawthorn cat means is that simply DollMore should only accept that their Glamor Models aren't advertised in the correct height, that's all.
I found sincerely odd to make a comparison among real people and realistic dolls,i've read sometimes statements like "but even real people are not the same height ect or are shorter etc" but bjd are dolls so cannot do without a proportion, seeing the DM pic i'm not surpriced that GM aren't taller 75cm and Hawthorn choosen them expecially for the height. But sincerely i'm surpriced myself to discover this..if i only i knew since the start i would surely took up for consideration to buy a GM longer before.
In the DM pic you can see how wrongly they measures their dolls,i think that while language barriers are a matter of fact measuring a doll has nothing to do with barrier language.
To me seems a good idea to do a petition to pushes dollmore to state the correct size of their doll,it would be good even for the company itself.

6. As I said, I'm not invalidating her, but from what I've read here, and the scene I saw on her deviantArt, she appears to be highly distressed and overly emotional on the subject.

My attempt was to bring rationality into her scope and suggest more productive ways of handling her predicament.

7. I know Knibitz that you've suggested a productive way to cope with the issue,i'm not saying that you've gave a wrong suggestion,i think that is a great idea to make a petition. :thumbup
I'm just trying to walking in the shoes of Hawthorne cat..it's not surely easy to save and pay for a doll long lusted and then discover on arrival that it's not what company advertises..it's not a matter of preference or tastes,it's not a matter of mold or a matter of easthetic..it's just a matter o wrong measuraments and wrong advertising. :doh

we confirmed about his height 75cm from the artist made him. she said it made as 75cm tall.
but she explained for his tall shorter than 75cm.. it can be shorter in reproduction process.
we didn't know it before she let us know it.
First, we will measure Glamor Model Doll and Model Doll male and so on...and post their height on the website.
Please wait more by then. sorry.
thanks~

Jee...
just that its been over 2 week since I got him
and Id like to either start working on him...
so I can grow to love him again
he isnt even sanded yet
and he will need extensive modding to make him taller
I am doubtful I will ever be able to regain the full 4cm he is short
but if I can regain 2cm... he will be atleast as tall as other dolls
dolsl I liked but ultimately rejected as not being tall enough
OR KNOW IF IM SENDING HIM BACK WITH A REFUND
so I will be able to buy a 75cm doll.

Jee
thank you
yes clothes and shoes would be good...
this will be satisfactory to repair my good faith
since I will be keeping the Nayuta Kenzo... and needing to mod him
I will also be moding my Long to be shorter in the torus so he sits shorter than the Nayuta Kenzo
all this moding will be costing me a minimum of at least $100 to buy Gang body parts and 2 part apoxie
so I would appreciate to have at least $100 value in product...
the clothes and shoes/boots I prefer are are on my ‘wish list’
I will of course praise your efforts to repair the bad rep on the doll communities
that I told of your failure and gave bad reviews for Dollmore
this will go far to restore good faith of all your customers

****

SO NOW IM JUST WAITING FOR DOLLMORE TO POST CORRECT HEIGHTS ON THEIR WEBSITE
AND TO SEND ME CLOTHES AND SHOES TO COMPENSATE FOR THEIR ERROR AND MY ADDITIONAL COSTS!

*BTW my wish list has $683 worth of product on it...
add that to my original $900 purchase...
neither sums are trivial amounts
Im not making a big deal out of nothing
its worth any company's interest to keep good faith with their customers

9. Seems in any case that DollMore in Jee person is trying to cope with company mistakes, which to me seems good. :)

10. I just checked and found out that the Special Limited Edition Glamor Model guys, like for example the Cruising Riders, already have a height of 71cm in their description, whereas older unlimited ones still run under 75cms.

11. I thinking the moulding process tends to shrink sizes. BUT companies should measure the actual product before posting measurements on their website. Even then, there can be wrong measurements posted if someone makes a typo or if someone measures something incorrectly. Still, a company should respond to customers if they point out errors instead of becoming defensive and trying to prove they are right even when it is obvious that they are wrong.

As for people not noticing the height... It is difficult to tell with dolls. Often shoes and different poses in photos can hide the size (I have a bunch of Sooms with fantasy feet and those make them appear at all kinds of difficult-to-measure heights). And before recent times, there were not many dolls over 70cm, so most people would not have other dolls to compare with. I remember that someone with an 80cm IOS compared him to a 80cm Soom Mecha Angel and discovered that the Mecha Angel was under 80cm. The Mecha Angels had been around for many years and known for one of the only 80cm dolls... and it turns out they are shorter than that! So this happens more than you realize.

It's good that Dollmore is changing the measurements and trying to compensate hawthorne~cat.

I have a Nayuta Kenzo. I, also, wasn't happy that he was listed as being so tall, but I got him anyway. I haven't measured him, but was about to run upstairs to see! :)

I actually prefer smaller dolls (around 65cm), so it doesn't bother me to know he is not 75cm.

12. Agreed, but wouldn't it be weird if, even over the years, the process would decrease the height of the copies from 75 to 71cm? I'd rather believe they haven't ever been that tall to begin with.

13. Hello!
Nayuta Kenzo is my first doll. It was love at first time!
His height is 73 cm (in 2012y)

17. Oooh, is that a Snake Kiss Nayuto, @RoxiaRose ?

18. @april yes it is :) got him second hand, was happy he came with most of his original outfit, sad the boots and coat was missing in it though D:

sorry for the bad quality image, took it at night with 0 lighting but I was too excited when I got out of work to unbox him

second ever image is him giving an expression of looking like hes given up on life and flopping over after I tried to get him into a sitting position (though if you were in a box 7 days, you'd be that exhausted too xD). He just needs to be restrung to fix that x3. Just was funny because the pose made him just look like he was saying 'please leave me be, I want to sleep' Either that or he knows hes retired on Dollmore and slipped into a midlife crisis.
