Dollmore Judith Girls discussion part 1

Ehh, you just put putty on them like eyes and they usually stay put pretty well.

 

My Judith Pirouette Zinna head came back from having a new faceup done last week. It was raining but I got a couple of photos on her after putting her on my FMD body. I'm really happy with the way she came out.


And here's a slightly better closeup on the teeth/tongue piece Angela made for me. It got a little skewed when I put the S-Hook in....

Looking good! @Kirahfaye It's a unique and lovely look for her. It also makes me wonder how many people actually keep the green-and-yellow eyeshadow that Dollmore slathers on Pirouette. I know I got rid of mine.

Who is the face-up artist? I can't remember if you told us.

 

Ooh, I like that color scheme, and that wig is beautiful on her.

 

@vermont chick I don't remember what her DOA name is - I know her through a FB forum. I can check with her, though.

And thanks - I'm happy with how she turned out. I was on the verge of giving up on my FMD body's use.

 

I think someone asked me for one with everybody.

Katherine only has one shoe because I lost the other one when I was kicked out of my house. It's around here somewhere, probably in one of the boxes, but I haven't found it yet.

Rosaline is the one I've been wanting to change the head and hands of. I'm just not digging the Tara face and Dollpire hands. D:

I bought the one-off judith this morning.

I was like "OMG, I love her, that's so cute, maybe I'll get one around Xmas when they have a sale." Then I notice it was only the one, and I couldn't pass that up.
I had $36 of points though, and I'm Silver level, so I got 1% off, then the 5% off right now.

 

General question: Has anyone restrung one of their Judiths?

I bought a pair of flat feet for my Pirouette Zinna but never used them. I decided to try them on my Dollpire Roo (on Judith body) instead. She was so tightly strung that I couldn't pull the string out far enough to get both the ball and the foot on. So I decided to restring her with slightly longer elastic. Turns out her legs are attached via two separate strings. I figured while I had her apart I would try one long string instead. It worked but it's made her floppy, even though the new elastic is barely longer than the two short ones combined. I'm not eager to take her apart again and retry with individual strings because the entire process took me a couple of hours as it is. With shoes on and a doll stand to hold her she's fine, but there's no way she will ever stand unsupported. Maybe I'll wire her.

@Kielin - Congrats! I hadn't noticed that she was a one-off. Looking forward to owner photos.

 

MMmm, yeah. It took me a few years to get Aubreigh to stand on her own. I have all of mine sueded with hot glue, and wired. Try both of those, then go back with tighter elastic if those don't help.
I think I've only ever restrung Aubreigh. Just because her elastic was so old, it was very floppy. Oh, and the previous owner left her in the sun and she had yellowing on one side, so I had to sand her a bit.

I didn't notice at first either. lol
Super looking forward to getting her. But she doesn't come with clothing -boooo-. So she might be nudie for a while.

 

I'll try wiring her, but not too thick a wire because I don't want her limbs stuck in a permanent bend. (That happened to me with an Iplehouse JID that the first owner wired.) I used a craft pipe cleaner in my Dollpire Shiloh and it worked fine. I'll try the same with Roo. One of these days I'll get brave enough to try the hot glue. I have the supplies--I'm just afraid to use them.

I can't believe your zombie ballerina Zinna doesn't come with clothing. Maybe Dollmore will include gift clothes so she has something to wear. At least they're sending you a stand. I hope you get a better stand than I did. The waist part on mine won't go into the actual stand. I've tried prying the stand apart but no dice. None of my other doll stand waists will fit into it either, so it's definitely the bottom part that's faulty.

 

I just get the thicker ;floral wire' they have at the dollar store, works fine and they can still bend.
Hot glue is easy, and if you mess up, it peels right off.

I knoooow. Maybe. D: I usually get some sort of gift.
Eeek, was it from Dollmore? Did you tell them?

 

I'm more afraid of getting the hot glue on my fingers.
I have some floral wire. Do you wrap the ends of it so it won't scratch the resin? Anyway, I can insert wire without taking her apart again so I'll try that first.

Dollmore always sends me gift clothes. I think once they even sent me Judith size white high heels. Must have been a gift, because I have two pair when I ordered only one.

Yes, the stand was from Dollmore. I never mentioned it to them in case they sent me another one and it turned out to have the same defect. I ended up getting her a flexible metal and acrylic stand from Alice's Collections. It's more invisible than Dollmore's black stand and allows more posing options.

Here's Dollpire Roo in a Scottish dress I made for her. I was on the deck with my hydrangea in full bloom at one end and too many curious bees buzzing around, so I didn't stay long enough to get full length photos. I'll try again without the shawl so the top of her dress is more visible. Hopefully the bees will leave us alone.

 

Ah. It only hurts for a minute or two. Then you can peel it off. xD
And you wanna get the low heat gun, not high heat.

I just fold the ends over so it isn't pointy, then I clamp it together with some pliers. Haven't had any issues.

I must just be unlucky then. I always hope for some shoes, or clothes, or wigs. Just cause not all my dolls have them. I did another order for the last Soaked Grunge (Dead), and one of the ballerina Judiths. With this second order, it brings me up to $4,000 I've spent on their website (not including their ebay). So I hope I get some nice freebies. Especially since the Dead Mansion and Soaked Grunge do not come with clothing/shoes. (Kinda sucks for a "fullset")

Ah. They are normally pretty good about things, they probably would have at least given you store credit.

So you've ordered both the Soaked Grunge and the Dead Mansion! They'd better trot out some awesome freebies, especially after two "fullsets" containing only naked dolls.

So which other Judith did you buy? Brise or Pirouette? At least the ballerinas come with clothes.

 

Yup. Definitely. Need some awesome freebies. Grunge will likely stay naked as she has raised bloody wounds all over, but the other one needs clothes.

EDIT: I'll probably buy Dead Mansion some black lolita-ie Doll Heart clothes at some point.
