1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollmore Large Dolls Discussion Thread (all sizes) - Part 2

May 2, 2014

    1. Congratulations, and I hope you get well soon :) For sizing of clothes, I've found going with more mature SD clothes to be decent. So, DD (for large or maybe at least medium bust) may work decently. I have a Volks SD16 dress from back in the day that works beautifully on the Model Doll body. I've also interchangeably used Iplehouse SID and Model Doll clothes with each other's bodies, though SID tends to be a bit larger in the torso. I could see little girl style SD10 clothes not working out too well, but the Model Doll torso isn't super chonky like the SID tends to be. (Really, all of the Iplehouse ladies have chonky torsos, even my MSD-equivalent JID that's got the smallest bust possible, essentially no breasts, and it's hard to shop for her.) I'd say from shoulder to upper thigh, the Model Doll body isn't any longer than normal, but note that the legs are extremely long, so dresses and skirts will be leggier than originally intended.

I've pretty much just stuck with Dollmore shoes for the Model Doll, especially when it comes to the high heels. Model Doll feet tend to be fairly large, and the high heel feet are very angled to accommodate very high heels. Thankfully, Dollmore has loads of Model Doll shoes for sale.

Here is that Volks SD16 dress I was talking about. I bet it was intended to fall below the knee on an SD16 doll, but it's above the knee on my Model Doll.

    2. @Robyn_in_WA - this is for you.
One of my cats has taken a real shine to Alicia/Elysia. He sits with her all the time, and he's been known to headbutt her hands for pats (he has been thus far disappointed):

She and I are impatiently waiting for her new duds. :cheer

    3. Thanks @MaleficentMrsofEvil for the darling photo of your
sweet kitty with Elysia! Elysia is quite lovely and looks like
she’d do great pats for your kitty if she could! Thanks!!! :)

    4. A tanned Keeley Sum is on my wishlist for next year. But I've heard their larger dolls easier chip in the jointed areas. I don't have him anymore, but I had a Model Doll M Haneol Moon ages ago and it were definitely the case back then. Especially behind the knees. Is it still like that?

    5. I will say that I have 2 new Dollmore dolls. The Judith body (bigger MSD) is a nice, solid resin. She feels very sturdy and substantial. I don't expect to have chipping issues with her.
The Zaoll body (50-cm tweener) is a very, well, soft resin. It's beautiful and lovely to touch, but I can definitely foresee it being very easy to scratch. I will not be doing much hand, feet, or head swapping on her.
As was pointed out to me in the big Iplehouse doll thread, Dollmore uses multiple sculptors, so each line is almost like a different company.
My (old) Model F body is what I would definitely call fragile. I restrung her and ended up adding a 5 mm grommet to her neck, cuz the S hook just burrowed into the resin like it was made of mozzarella. The resin around the joint ends is very thin and therefore prone to chips and cracks, solely because there just isn't that much material there. But also, it's an old body. I don't have a new one to compare (yet).

    6. Oh, sorry for the double post, but I emailed that picture to Dollmore Abby. She thought it was hilarious - but also, the owner's cat just crossed the rainbow bridge last week. If anyone else wants to send their condolences, I'm sure Abby would pass them along.
She said my cat was very "health." It's okay, Abby. We know he's fat. He's on a diet.

    7. Ok. I hope that the newer bodies are a bit stronger now. But to be on the safe side I might put something in the joints and neck area just to be safe. I wonder if a layer of hotglue works a bit. There's also self adhesive bandage that I've been curious about trying even just as sueding in the joints.

    8. You might also consider some UV resin? You can buy it in squeeze-bottles (like Elmer's glue) and just spread some round the inside of the joint at the bottom. Then pull out your little UV flashlight and cure it. I know they sell it pretty cheaply at local craft stores (or even cheaper online), and it's generally clear.

    9. My Dollmore Model Doll Leah Cox is from late 2009, and the only thing that broke on her was one finger, and that was because I didn't package her well. I have had her head removed a bunch of times during dressing, and I haven't noticed any mozzarella effect, but I wasn't looking. She is strung pretty tightly head to toe, too. My Leah is the most regular of color, not tan or white, so take that for what you will.

I heard that the little tab piece in the torso beneath the breasts is prone to chipping, but it's still intact on mine after all these years. Even if it chips, I don't think it would be visible, and it might actually help.

EDIT: I just had my Leah's head off. I'm not seeing anything concerning where her S-hook rests in her head. No mozzarella.

    10. It might also be the size of the S-hook. I swapped for a smaller S-hook, which fell into the hole.

    11. You might be right about the size of the S-hook. While it's not alarming for me, I do agree that it's perhaps a bit large for the grooves despite me not really having any problems with it.

EDIT: I took a few photos of my beloved Model Doll Leah today <3 Here's one. Nearly 14 years later, and I am still in love with her <3 And her legs :blush

    12. That's good :) I very much decided to get Keeley Sum. She's the one I've had my eyes on a lot of times before, throughout the years, even though I did not take the step to do the order. I'm hoping she'll look great next to my HID Falcon. I still have a bit left until I have finished saving up for Falcon. But I did start by ordering her, her clothes and shoes.

    13. Keeley Sum is a gorgeous doll, and tan resin? Sounds amazing! I am excited for you and can't wait to see your pictures when she arrives!

    14. It's going to be a hard wait! She'll be the best friend of my SID Omar (Andrei). Andrei are soon going to be sent for a makeover and become the freckled ginger guy he's always been meant to be <3 She won't be dating either of the boys though because Falcon is Andrei's future husband.

    15. OK. So after dropping $150 on someone's very expensive prescription food and scooping three litter boxes, I might be taking this a little personally...

    16. My Trinity clothes are shipping tomorrow! Yay! :dance
I had a very interesting discussion with Dollmore Abby. I wanted to order the new Model F high heels body, because double-jointed knees!

My conversation went something like this:
Me: How do I order a doll with the high heel legs body?
      Abby - don't do it.
Oblivious Me: can I order a full doll and ask you to swap, or do I order the head and body separately?
Abby - you have to order the head and body separately.
Fails to Take a Hint Me: adds head and body separately to cart.
Abby - Don't buy it! It can't stand on its own! Get the regular Model F body, which is much better.

So... apparently, they made the body to shut up collectors like me. But if you try to buy it, Abby will tell you not to.

    17. It's wonderful that she is honest about it not standing!

    18. That's hilarious!

I wouldn't order them because I don't like that you're stuck with the molded high heels. I want shoe variety, and so would my doll!

    19. My Kara Klum is finally here after a week of sitting at Tullamarine Airport! Here he is in the least-worst wig I had on hand with his sister, Magome, my Liebe Klum, who's at least 13 years old. He's a little bit pinker but their resin looks a near perfect match.
He was well worth the wait – I love his grumpy little face

    20. We... we all do this with our jointed hands, right?

I feel like I have a new doll. The clothes are superb. Everything fits perfectly and was a snap to put on Elysia.
