Dollmore Large Dolls Discussion Thread (all sizes) - Part 2

May 2, 2014

    1. Ugh, so many handsome vampire boys!

Random question... I'm thinking of making a djinn character and am a bit torn between Socheon(e) and Leah Cox. Any suggestions?

    2. aww, my SD is still at Chicago. I need to bring him home.

I prefer Socheon(e) instead of Leah Cox. Socheon(e) have luminous facial structure that are somewhat Asian. I asked my coworkers about their preferences and they all said Socheon(e) is the prettiest among them all. I am not sure about the djinn character though.

    3. aaahh he is amazing! I love those eyes! The 'regular' eyes aren't showing up as well as the third eye, but if they all match then I can definitely get a good idea of how they look, based on the third one. They're really gorgeous and definitely look like animal eyes.
I'm so happy you were able to get him restrung at last, although I'm sorry you had such a battle with him. I didn't find my two large dolls all that hard to restring but, then again, I haven't got any mobility or strength issues to contend with and I enjoy restringing lol.
Anyway, I hope we get to see more of him around here. :)

Those are the regular Model hands. Noé's static hands are just like those.
Also...that camera! It is awesome! (and I love how it says "camera" on it. "Camera" by ObviousCo.) May I ask where you found it?

Girrl, I'm by no means a djinn expert lol. If I had to choose between Leah and Socheon, though, I think I'd choose Socheon. My actual favourite (after Ipsae, of course) is Bella and then Malli. I'd love to do a Malli in 1950s style.

We've had a lot of cute boys making their appearance in the thread as of late, so how about some girls?

    4. Sapphire Stargazer and Genevieve;
I told you this was an older doll. Maybe they changed the hands on the newer models to larger ones?Anyway, here is another lousy, shakey, photo of him standing. And another in portrait mode. I think my biggest problem is shakey hands.
I had my daughter standing by to catch Guy Winston (new name) in case he took a nosedive.:horror:
[IMG]I love everyone's photos except mine!

    5. He looks awesome, Grouchy Gnome, and I like the new name too! Is that a Monique wig he's wearing? I'm pretty sure his hands are the regular Model M hands. They're quite large to begin with, and other than the height, there really doesn't seem to be a great difference in body proportions between the Model M and Glamour Models. The circumference of the wrist on both Model M and Glamour Model is 7cm, so it's highly conceivable that they could wear each other's hands.

Here is Élise again, because I am really pleased with this photo:

    6. Sapphire; your shot of Elise is lovely! (But then you always take great photos!) His wig was ordered from Dollmore, as were all his clothes. The wig is described as "8-9 PantaMiddle Cut Wig (Blond+Black)"

Genevive; Yes his hands, (Alkas) do seem to be made to hold a camera. I'm sure even Alkas photos are better than mine!

    7. Thanks very much Grouchy Gnome! :) I tried to take a 'family photo' outside today, but both Noé and the weather were being totally uncooperative lol. So, we moved the photo shoot indoors and Noé decided to watch from the sidelines while his sister got her picture taken. :XD:
I didn't know Dollmore made any wigs like that. It's a really great look for your guy. :)
As for your photos, they aren't bad. If your hands shaking, maybe you could try shooting from a tripod, or by steadying the camera on a table, chair, or some other solid flat surface. Also, it looks like you may have been shooting in low light. When your camera is on automatic, it will choose a slower shutter speed for itself, so it can pull in as much light as possible. Slower shutter means that photos are more susceptible to "ghosting" or camera shake. Choosing a programmed preset with a faster shutter (like "Sports" mode) might help you too, especially if your camera doesn't let you set shutter speed yourself.

Low light with a moderately fast (1/50) shutter and ISO set to 400 gives something like this. You can see the artificial lighting was coming from above him. This isn't the most ideal lighting situation, but it's not impossible to work with. :)

    8. Girrl: I like them both! >_< I guess my vote goes with Socheon, but I feel it may be influenced by which faceup I like best...either's a good choice, I'd say. x3

SapphireStargazer: Right? Haha I laughed when I saw that, written in the Canon font. But they're the cutest little things, they have shutter buttons that work and the lens flashes and makes shutter noises. >v< I got it on ebay! There's a plain black one and this grey-topped one.
I don't think I am allowed to post the link, but ebay seller lee262online sells them for under $3, along with a cute flashing gun (that Siber was so not into). Haha I never meant him to be a gun-user, but he inherited the gun necklace that no one uses and this gun keychain. It just fit in his hands! XD He (and Alkas) are the only ones who can hold it.

He's just looking into the camera office style.

Elise and Noe look gazelle-like as usual, I love Dollmore hands. <3 Emilie is scrumptious with those cheeks! Lately I'm melting for those cute childish dolls.

GrouchyGnome: Winston is awesome as ever~ I also love that wig, it's a great look on him. I think it's the default (or an option) for the 3-eyed Vic. The promo pics make me really consider it, but Alkas will stick with his vampy black hair. XD

    9. Thanks Genevieve! I found them after a bit of searching. There is a pink & red camera too, along with the black and the grey versions. I also found the guns. I think I'm going to get the pink one and the grey one. The all-black one says "funnydd" on it...? lol
Siber looks very serious in that pic.

    10. I like those green alligator eyes! Perfect!
I'm enjoying seeing more of the three-eyed sculpt. They're so rare.

I love that dark tan on Siber. He looks like he means business with that gun! I would not want to be the one that he's glaring at right now... ;)

Sapphire - looks like you've got Elise posing like a champ now! Glad to see her fitting in nicely.

I just made my last lay away payment on my Keskin Yarn Sae! Yay! We'll see how long he takes to get home.
In the meantime, it seems my Scrimshaw gets more attention around Halloween...

    11. Heehee thanks everyone, Siber's srs face makes him the target of much silliness. I too love his beautiful skin, Aernath! *3* Dollmore has some of the best dark resin, I think. <3 It's got a different texture than the normal skin!
Scrimshaw looks awesome as ever. He's the perfect halloween boy! The cat part of his tattoos has to be my fave part. >v<

As for the black camera, it does not say funnydd. D: It says camera also. XD Here's a pic of it, please forgive the unrelated doll and the terrible lighting. 83 At the very least, he's wearing Dollmore glasses. XD

    12. Aernath: Guy likes his Aligator eyes too. Thanks for the compliment. I like your scrimshaw fellow a lot. I'm especially fond of the kitty peeking out between his bones! :kitty2 Mrrrrow.....

Genevive: your "cutie with a camera" is really cute. That face looks familiar to me. He wouldn't be a DikaDoll, would he?
Yes, that wig is on the promos for Victor Lou of the 3 eyes. The pic that cracks me up is the shot where his human eyes are blindfolded, and he stares out above the blindfold with his 3rd eye! (Wearing a black suit and red tie no less.) Ha ha ha!:XD:

Sapphire: Guy Winston is the only Dollmore doll I own.........but I must admit that I've been rather interested in Calix Word,
(I hate that name!) or possibly? Maxi Milian........hmmmm..........:sneaky Drake says, "Those guys are skinny! I can take 'em down easy!"

    13. Yes Grouchy Gnome, he's a Dikadoll Adler hybrid. ^3^

I don't think there's a glamor model that I don't like to be honest. I would love to see a Calix Word.

    14. Dikadoll! There are several sculpts there I wouldn't mind having...

    15. Thanks aernath! Élise still needs to be sueded and restrung with decent elastic. What she has now is marginally better than what she came with, but she can still barely stand up without a major effort on my part (or unless she's literally being held upright by Gabriel. ;))
Your Scrimshaw is amazing! I can see why he gets a lot of attention around this time of year. I love his name, too; perfect for him, really. The first time I ever heard of 'Scrimshaw' I was in 11th grade and read it in Jarold Ramsey's poem "The Tally Stick". It has since become one of my favourite poems ever. :) (definitely not a Hallowe'en poem, though lol)

Genevieve, that's interesting. It certainly looks like "funnydd" in this listing though. Oh well... maybe they'll have a black one that says "Camera" again later on.

Grouchy Gnome, I don't much like the name 'Calix Word' either, but I do like the sculpt! My favourite Glamour Models are Nayuta Kenzo and Yarn Sae. If I were going to get one, it'd probably be Yarn Sae. I love the way they've styled Cruising Rider Yarn Sae in particular. :)
Noé has a message for Drake: "Bring it on!"
      Boys... :doh

Poor CJ, can't even get a glass of water without barging in on something!
Link to photostory, if anyone's interested :)

    17. lol Girrl, that looks like a scene it may have been best for CJ not to walk in on. :XD: I always enjoy your photo stories! hehe your crew never disappoints.

Noé has been rather busy this weekend...

      (and thank you!)

    19. He says he's making a 'love potion' which, you know, will most likely lead to disaster. ;)

      (You're welcome!)

      //ETA//
Well, I finally got around to sueding and restringing Noé's arms last night. I only sueded his elbow parts, and I restrung the arms with 5mm cord (the flesh-coloured stuff from Dollmore). I can't get over the difference it has made. In fact, with the 5mm cord in, it may not have been necessary to suede him at all. He has full range of motion in his arms now and he can hold his arms in just about any pose without his elbows randomly springing back to their fully-bent position. I predict this is going to decrease my frustration level exponentially. =D

    20. lovin' all the resin beauty here. thought since a couple of you commented on him, I'd share a pic of my "Calix" whom I named Hrolf.
aernath: I have the blue epoch version of your fabulous man on layaway. can't wait to get him.

      :XD:
