1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollmore Lusion Discussion - Part V!

Aug 13, 2014

    1. Yeah probably.

After doodling a bit, I think I might do strawberry blonde for my boy. Not sure if I will stick with green eyes. I feel like I do green eyes too often but then I am also like.... I do green eyes a lot because I love green eyes....

    2. I understand that - If I didn't deliberately avoid doing it, all my dolls would end up with green eyes and red hair.

      Teddy

    3. It's just that green eyes look so good in many dolls.

    4. Can't argue with that

      Teddy

    5. @Teddy Do you have any words of wisdom for wiring a Lusion? The bjds in Youtube wiring videos are so much smaller that I'm concerned the specifics won't work for big ol' Lusion!

    6. I did it exactly the same as I do for my smaller dolls.

I used bigger/thicker armature wire beacuse the doill is that much heavier, of course, but the actual wiring is the same. I have one wire that goes up from one ankle, to near the neck, does a U turn and goes back down to the other ankle, and a seperate one that goes through the arms from wrist to wrist.

I did find that, in places, it was difficult to get the wire through past the elastic, but if you pull on the elastic (to stretch it so it goes thinner) while pushing the elastic through, it will go.

      Good luck!

    8. Many thanks for sharing the patterns. I'm not likely to get around to trying either pattern anytime soon, but it seems to me that in addition to being nice for tops and trousers as they are, they're also a great starting point for adapting into more detailed types of top (and dress bodices), shorts, and bloomers etc.

    9. @Teddy You're welcome! And THANK YOU for telling me about the Himstedt patterns as a starting point!
I'm hoping Lusion owners will take these "slopers" (as the fashion people call them) and really have fun with them.
I am developing a set-in sleeve for the top. Trying to design a smooth-fitting sleeve cap is a challenge!

    10. That will certainly get used by me - I'm dreadful at fitting sleeves smoothly into armholes (one reason I love the renaissance period for sewing because sleeves were often seperate garments that tied of laced in around the armhole). So much so that I often default to drawing up patterns for puffed sleeves, because the gathers make it easier to get a neat finish.

    11. This is so helpful. I've been too ill over the past few months to actually work on my slopers. Maybe I could take the arm prototype I've got and see if it'll fit in this shirt pattern.

    12. @Teddy Too right! Puffy sleeves - no problem. Raglan sleeves - wish I had knit fabric. Separate sleeves - look fabulous!
Even with the perfect set-in sleeve pattern, there's a lot of fussing: easing the seam allowance and hand-sewing it in place.
I got myself into this by designing a surgical cap for Lusion and needed a scrubs-looking top to go with it. Shoulda thought that one through! I'm almost there, though!

    13. I think scrubs would look better with puffed sleeves.... Just sayin'

    14. Aw, bless you, @Teddy! I might just take grab your idea and run with it!
      Happy Solstice, everyone!

    15. nah ... cap sleeves!

    16. You set them in smoothly and I'll have cap sleeves on scrubs for my Lusion, but I still maintian that puffed sleeves will look prettier.

      Teddy

    17. Why stop at puffed sleeves? Go full on Mutton sleeve. .... Mutton sleeve scrubs. That would be interesting, I might have to sketch that out.

    18. I agree that leg o'mutton sleeves would look gorgeous, but I think long sleeves might get in the way of surgical procedures cuffs soaking up the blood, etc.... Don't you think.

Of course, you could include a drawstring in each sleeve so it could be pulled up for when actually working, and let down again after.

My, but these Lusions push the boundaries of clothing design.
