1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollmore Model boy Kyle Reese Discussion

Oct 13, 2006

    1. Thank you Devil's Trill, I was afraid it was a flaw, I 'm feeling better !

    2. I think the thin rings you are seeing is probably just thin areas of resin (since it is thinner light passes through more easily and creates a blue effect). Some of my dolls have thin areas too!

    3. I'm putting money aside as a "Kyle Fund" and I just wanted to know how satisfied owners of his model are?

Is he worth the hight cost? Especially for a first doll? I hear he's one of the tallest BJD's, and is that a good or a bad thing where buying BJDs is concerned?

I also wanted to know how he measures up next to other models. I intend on buying a Dollshe Husky, and a DOT E-an in the future...would they all look good together?

      Thanks.

    4. Hi, I have a Kyle and several Dollshe boys. Kyle is about the same size as the Dollshes, and the Dollmore Model Boy body is similar to the Dollshe body, so they look just fine together and can usually swap clothes with no problems.

Edited to add, and as far as Kyle being "worth the cost" he's an excellent quality doll. I have no complaints. I wasn't a big fan of his orangey blushing but that's more of a personal taste thing than to do with the quality of the doll, and you can always get him unblushed.

    5. Isamu (my Kyle Reese) was my first doll ^^ He's definitely worth the money, I think. I like his resin quality the most actually... among my three dolls. It's fair and slightly pinkish, and is made to look matte. And I don't know about other Dollmore owners, but I love the way he smells xD I also like how stable he is when he's standing, and how photogenic he is.

In terms of doll compatibility, I guess he would look good with the Dollshes since they share the same build... just that his head is smaller ^^;; E-an should look fine next to him, though she'll probably reach up to his shoulders.

    6. I have a Haneol Moon and a Hound. The Dollshe long-sleeve dress shirt sleeves and all pants are about one-fourth to one-half inch too short. The arms on the Model Doll are definitely longer. I have found really tailored Dollshe coats are just a tad too narrow in the shoulders. I can work around it by keeping the coat unbuttoned.

      Here is a comparison thread:

Depending on the fashion you are planning for them, you might be able to share some wardrobe between Dollshe and Model Doll, like stretchy teeshirts, baggy shirts, shorts, etc. FORGET shoes, though. All the shoes I purchased for the character my Model Doll is are Dollshe sized, because I thought I would be getting a Dollshe for the character. Model Dolls have gigantic feet.

BTW: The Soom Sabik is taller, at 80cm.

    7. Kyle was my choice for a first doll and I love him! Indigo still has some trouble standing but I'm sure sueding will fix that. He has a beauty to him that still stuns me!

I am planning on a saint for my next doll as have been told they are equivilant in size.

And YES, he is well worth the money. :)

    8. The clothes-sharing does depend a lot on the cut of the clothes. If you want super-tailored look then yes, you'll have some problems sharing. If you buy mostly baggy jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweaters for your dolls a lot of the same clothes will fit the Hound and Model Boy. If you have something like a shirt with button cuffs that fits the Model Boy you can usually put that on your Hound, the sleeves will be a little long but the button cuffs will take care of it. It's generally easier to buy a Dollmore outfit that fits a Model Boy and then put that on a Hound, than buy fitted Hound clothes from Tensiya and try to put those on a Model Boy.

I don't think any of my dolls own a tailored shirt or suit yet. I have all T-shirts and poets shirts and slighly loose jeans for my boys, many of which were made on purpose to fit both Hound and Model Boy bodies. So they can usually trade with no problems.

For Soom Sabik, Bishonen House or Dollzone bodies, you need to make or buy their own wardrobe as those are larger/differently sized boys than the Hounds and Models.

    9. Haha, you know, I actually love his size. Definitely worth the cost. He slouches a bit on me, but I dunno, gives him some personality. xD;; I think I love taking pictures of him the most. No real other complaints, if that even counted as one.

I have a couple of DoT boys. They're a little over his shoulder, so the girls obviously shorter. Which is fine, I was planning on getting a T. E-an in the future sometime too.

    10. Thanks for the clothing advice. I really like what Dollmore has to offer, especially some of the shoes.

Would SOOM clothes fit Kyle, and what about some of the clothes at Tensiya?

I'll definitely keep that in mind if I ever get my Husky, because I'd like to be able to share clothes between them if that's ever the case. I'm actually planning on making a lot of Kyle's clothes myself, would you know of any places I could find his exact measurements, because I'm planning on making a lot before I even buy him.

I'm getting E-an waaaaaay before I get any other boys, after Kyle, so I'm glad about the size. I wanted her to be smaller than him, seeing as she's going to be Snow White, and Tristyn (Kyle) will be her Prince.:)

    11. It's his beauty that really struck me at first, as well as his slender body. He looks so different from many other BJDs, and his expression is so genuine, that he looks like a real boy!

I definitely see him as an investment. He's the doll I always wanted as a child, and can now fully appreciate as an adult.

      BTW Indigo is absolutely gorgeous!

    12. I actually see alot of DM shirts that I'd like for him, and shoes as well. Everything else I plan of either making myself, or waiting to buy. I like a lot of Dollshe clothes as well, and I suppose I can always alter them if they're too short.

    13. I've been admiring your Isamu for awhile now...he's truly special, and soooooo beautiful.

I'm glad you said he smells nice, because that's actually something I was hoping.

He is photogenic isn't he? His expression is so soulfoul, and slightly sad, that some of his pics have brought me to tears. That's how I knew he was the one.

I'm glad to know E-an is a bit (or a lot) shorter than Kyle, because I want her to look younger, and fragile compared to him...even if he does look so wonderfully vulnerable!:)

    14. I think I'm going to get him unblushed, and even have his faceup done elsewhere, I want him to look thoroughly unique and special.

I'm so glad to see that so many Kyle Owners are so pleased with him, it makes me feel very secure in my choice.

    15. I think Kyle & E-an would look so beautiful together. I'm still concerned about proportions, but as long as they look natural side by side I'll be fine.

    16. I'm not sure about the Soom clothes because I don't have any (I bought my Sabik nude). Tensiya clothes tend to be kind of form-fitting, or at least the ones I've purchased are (I have the "Shy punk" outfit with the lacy stretch shirt and leather pants for Hounds), so you run into that too-short sleeve and pantleg problem that the other person mentioned.

I'd suggest you get some Dollmore clothes for Kyle and then after your Husky arrives, you get him a set of Tensiya clothes and then you can see what does and doesn't work, but you'll still have at least one doll able to wear the outfits you got.

    17. Here's Kasper, my Kyle. He's absolutely worth the money, I'm saving up for more Model Dolls now as he's just brilliant.

    18. 1) Your boys are all REALLY hot together!

      2) I adore the height difference, it's absolutely perfect! Kyle & E-an will be the perfect couple...that is until I get my Husky, then my Kyle's affections may wander.;)

    19. I'll definitely be getting DM clothes, and shoes before I get anything.

Do you think its a wise decision to buy clothes, and wigs in advance, even before ordering the doll? I want him to have clothes, and wigs already prepared for his arrival, plus I just want to get some of that out of the way and not spend a fortune later. I remember getting an American Girl Doll when I was younger, and being so disappointed when I couldn't afford any of her accessories later. So is it wise to buy things in advance?
