It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Dolls and names

May 23, 2008

    1. Do any of you choose rhyming/"twin" type names, or names that all begin with the same letter of the alphabet? I have Mi-cha at home, and usually wait or the name to come to the personality, but the little one I'm waiting on is Minzy in my mind already. Idk why, it's very uncharacteristic of me, but I know that is his name. Then last night after reading this thread, I realized maybe I'm stranger than I first thought, because Mi-cha & Minzy sound like twins you let your 4 y/o name :doh

    2. I give all of mine new original names. They don't feel like mine until I have but that's just my process. Sometimes I think about keeping there sculpt names but in the end I never do.

    3. For my Soom Amber I kept the sculpt name since I kept referring to her as Amber and couldn't stop. Everyone else in my resin crew has a different name than the original sculpt, though. I love going through all the different names online, it's one of my favorite parts about getting a new doll :)

    4. A few of my dolls have kept their sculpt name because it just seemed fitting but most of my dolls have their own name.

    5. So far I've given all my boys original names, although I was considering just keeping me Ringdoll Nene as Nene since it's such a cute name but a friend suggested Mira and I decided that fit so much better. I don't know if I'll ever "keep a name" from a doll I get.

    6. I actually like going through different names...Going on sites and finding out their meanings.

      I picked Arcani's because I loved how it rolled off my tongue, it suited him and I loved the meaning "Destined for Greatness." I originally was going to name my first MSD Noah but really that's just too plain for me...XD;;

    7. I really like going through different names, but for a while some of my dolls have kept their sculpt name >.<

    8. I struggle with names for original characters, but most of them time I buy a doll with a character already in mind. The one time I bought a doll without a pre-existing character in mind, I asked my friends for good fantasy names for an elf male. One of them suggested I name him "Lunch." The only one who was nice enough to try and think of names for me came up with a few that all sounded like psychiatric medications to me though I wound up using one of them since I didn't want the nick-name "Off-Topic" to stick.

    9. I like choosing names even if it's not easy, two of my dolls are still nameless but I don't want the company name because I don't like them (except for fairyland Luna, I'll call her Luna)
anyway I refer to the dolls with their company name when I'm talking to the others because I know they can't remember all the names!

    10. I love giving names though im really picky so one of my doll is still nameless atm :(
I keep a book of names that i really like and try to see whether it fits the feel of the doll , like its character .

    11. I named my doll at the beginning thinking it'd stay, but i'm really thinking about renaming her. Still, for now I like to call her by her name rather than none at all.

    12. Glad I'm not the only one who's still using her doll's factory name. :) I did think of renaming her, but Rena seems to suit her so well for now.

    13. Most of mine still have their original name. I think that is because I fell for them with that name and it is hard to think of them with a different name. :) I do have to admit that the ones I have renamed were named after my grandchildren, who think that is just awesome! ;)

    14. My AOD Jimi head is still just Jimi even tho everyone else in my house have names, the two who have yet to arrive will eventually get names too probably lol.

    15. Nah, I just keep the doll's name as the sculpt name. It makes it easier I think, at least for me when I talk about them.

    16. I kept my FDoll's sculpt name-Dane. I love that name and it suits him,so I just got lucky with that one.

    17. i tend to keep their original names. for twins and triples, i name them XX No.1/No.2 etc. just to lazy to come out with any new name haha

    18. I let my dolls tell me their names. Some tell me immediately even before they arrive home while others waited for years before telling me their names. Until they tell me their names, I call them by their sculpt names. After they tell me their first name, their sculpt name becomes their respective family names.

Hence, I have Anthony Isao Nanjou, he told his name "Anthony" only after 3 years! I also have Aisin Sphaler who told me his name "Aisin" when he was on his way home for the first time. His sculpt name is Sphaler and that becomes his family name. My latest boy just told me his name, it's Henry Victor Reisner II and he's British. Their names indicate personality and the type of clothes they wear. My wallet cringed at the potential cost of Henry's wardrobe.

Don't worry, you will know their names. It will come to you. it might take some time but they will eventually tell you their names. It's related to the dolls' personality and character.

    19. I typically come up with a name whenever I think about buying them. Unfortunately that's kind of like test driving a car for me. Once I have a name for her the character/personality follows and I'm hooked. I had a hard time with Lyria b/c I kept calling her Mei (her sculpt name) but I always corrected myself and forced myself as best I could to call her by her real name. Now it sticks. My elfkin I'm still having a problem with. I was gonna call her Gobby/Gobbie since she's a goblin, but I ended up not liking it so I named her Tricksie. But I feel like something you name your dog lol and all my other girls have like legit names (See Signature) and Tricksie just sounds kinda gimicky. Otherwise I have stuck with the names I gave my girls from the beginning. Like when I bought my AoD Meng Li she was listed on ebay looking like Alice in Wonderland. So I was gonna call her Alice. Well obviously she didn't come that way. She has green hair and doesn't wear dresses (See Avatar) but she was already Alice so she stayed Alice.

    20. My off topic (for now) doll has a name I picked "Iris Rose" named for what Grandma wanted to call my mom when she was born... but Grandad didn't want his baby girl named after a 'damn flower garden'. So he decided on using Grandma's name as the middle... so technically my Doll is Iris Rose Hazel (yes 3 names like me ^^). My guy (one in my avatar) is officially "The Marauder" which is like his nickname, he is an English lord by birth but has been doing nasty spy stuff secretly in the name of the King... BUT.... I can't come up with a lordly name form him ... I have yet to even look up 'ranks' in the English aristocracy to pick exactly what he is LOL. I am having a hell of a time coming up with a strong name that doesn't scream 'dork' but still works for the 1800's... I have several in mind but I just can't seem to settle on anything... Thank god they are my only two OC's... the rest are going to be based on book characters... naming issue not mine then LOL.... I am dying to create my 'Mad Jack' ^^... and wife.
