1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolls and names

May 23, 2008

    1. I have a doll on the way and she's gonna be named Brooke Collins >< shes my victorian era kind of doll <3
I think if your gonna a theme-ngy for your dolls, itll be good to give them names instead of using the sculpt names cause it could give them more of the feels~ eg, your doll is a dark fantasy theme he could be named sparrow! gives him more of the feels right? ^^

    2. I have named all my boys except one. My IH Eric seemed to suit his sculpt name and it stuck. I had other names that I thought would suit but no way was he changing his name:)

    3. i think that sometimes the original name suits them better..but sometimes they need a new name..
how can you call your doll f-13 or f-17? XD

    4. I tried to name my first doll DOD Si...but nothing ever stuck, his name is Sibi which is just what I nicknamed his sculpt after I nought him and waited for him for 14 weeks. I thought naming him when he got home would be best but I think I have to have a good think about names that would suit the doll instead of forcing a name on them. I had called him Yukio, but it felt so forced, so Sibi stuck!

    5. When I ordered my Kid Delf Aru, I decided to name him Frank. Then I got him and realized he's not a Frank. It was a few days of thinking and asking around before I decided on Shaun. Though now that I think about it, Aru would have suited him really well also. -_-

My Kid Delf Kiwi I'm waiting on is tentatively named Margret, but I expect that to change once I see her in person.

On the other hand, my sister just ordered her first doll, and has decided she will be named Soup.

    6. My boy is going to be my character, so his name is decided before he's even home! It took me a long time to decide on which doll to order, so I'm really hoping it fits him when he gets here.

    7. I usually like to think of names before I get a doll, but sometimes I just can't, so they go by their sculpt name.
It doesn't make it seem any less personal, just temporary. ^^;; With my Dollfie Dream, I don't call her DDH-06 xD I just call her "DD", since her right name hasn't hit me yet.

    8. I name all of my dolls! But I'll still refer to them by their sculpts if I'm talking about a particular sculpt (I'll refer to Leah as "my Ariel" or "my BBB Ariel"--Leah is never preceded by "my," lol, it would insult her dignity!). If I found a doll with a name I just liked enough, it would stick, but otherwise... nah.

    9. I often pick names based on themes or the doll's personality which makes it easier for me. To give an example of that my newest purchase is a Dollzone Hal named Ealdred Hartley, Ealdred is an English name that basically means 'old counsel', his character is a deer person though, so I picked the surname Hartley which means 'Stag's meadow'.

I don't really keep the sculpt's original name and avoid referring to any of my dolls as such unless I have to talk to someone else about them in case they don't know them by their character name.

    10. I got one doll who kinda has his sculpt name. I have a DollZone Hid who I named Hideyoshi. Yet all my friends call him Hid anyway. So well he's actually just Hid in the end (the DollZone sculpt name). I don't think it's wrong to use the sculpt name. Some dolls really have a lovely sculpt name after all, like DollZone FeiLian or DIM Terrence.

    11. My boys both have original names that fit them no problem, but I kept referring to my girl as her mold name (she's a Doll Love Thea) before I got her, and the name accidentally stuck! I gave her a fairly similar name, Theorie, and I sometimes call her Thea for short.

    12. I'm looking to recreate the characters from my published novels, so my dolls will all have those names, not the sculpt names. For dolls that aren't from my novels (like DC centaur) I will name it something else. Some of the sculpt names are, frankly, ugly. Who wants a doll named "Amos"?

    13. I give my dolls new names, but I end up thinking of them by their sculpt name anyway :(

    14. I am also waiting on my first doll to come and I think I have a name picked out for her. It might change once I actually receive her and figure out her personality though :) Mei is the name they gave her but I'm not a fan.

    15. I've noticed for myself, the longer I own my dolls, the less I think about their sculpt name. Not only do I rename them, but on some of my first, I have to stop and think about what sculpt they actually are! I do have one who technically will retain her sculpt name, but it's because she's a MNM sculpt based off the specific character she's meant to be, so it's less she's named for the sculpt and more the sculpt is named for her. I have one, too, who is waiting to speak to me, and thus far is stuck with sculpt name, but eventually something will come up. For the most part, I'm shelling existing characters, so unless I happen across a sculpt that looks like one of my characters and shares his or her name, I won't be keeping the sculpt names.

    16. I love names so I generally don't have a hard time coming up with good ones for my dolls. The only one that is proving tricky right now was an impulse purchase, a Caramel Ringo.... His name might end up being Ringo or Caramel if I can't think of anything better by the time he shows up.

    17. I haven't changed any of the names of my dolls as I love the names they have. But it is a personal choice and we are all different.

    18. I'm really into naming characters and pets and dolls, it's really fun to name things, so I always name my dolls something... Sometimes I even find myself thinking of what I might name a doll I don't have if i got it, even if there's no foreseeable plans for me to get them!

But sometimes I think the sculpt name really suits the doll... I actually do have plans to eventually buy a Luts ZDF Toya once I'm back into the swing of things and can afford to, and I really can't think of a single thing I'd name her, and I'd probably just keep the sculpt name, maybe give it a variant spelling such as "touya"... It's a pretty name and I think it suits the sculpt really well.

Also I've got a DT sia on the way and before I picked out a name I've just been calling her "sia"... The name I picked for her might not stick so if it doesn't I'll just have to go back to calling her sia until i pick something better. I really want her to have a good name and a well-rounded character though so I'm taking my time with it.

    19. I try to name all my dolls! At the moment I'm stuck on a first name for my doll, but it will probably be based off of a greek god/goddess. I'd love to start a theme of naming all my dolls after greek gods/goddesses.

    20. Vicemagic, I also sometimes forget theri sculpt names- and have to look up their paperwork to see what it was! Sometimes I know what their name will be before they arrive but sometimes I just have to leave them out and let them tell me their personality before I can give them a name. And sometimes the name just doesn't click and has to be changed. I am not great at deciding names.....
