It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Dolls and names

May 23, 2008

    1. My doll and future planned dolls are named for ships. Because I have an incurable obsession with maritime history.

My first and current doll, Ealasaid is named for the Queen Elizabeth 2 aka the QE2, which is my favourite ship. The doll's name is Scottish Gaelic to reflect the "birthplace" of the QE2.

My second doll, who is coming home soon, is named Victoria - for the Queen Victoria, a sort-of sister ship to the QE2. I considered Vittoria, which is Italian and would reflect the "birthplace" of the Queen Victoria, but I wasn't too fond of the name so went with the English variation.

My third doll will be named for the Queen Mary 2, but I have not decided which variation of the name "Mary" I would be using.

    2. I kept my ND Lucy's name, because she really is a Lucy and nothing else seemed to fit. My others, I just named whatever came to mind when I looked at them. I'm in the process of changing 2 of my dolls' names because I don't like what I thought of originally. I really want to keep my DZ Megi's name, because I think it's so cute, but he is currently named Nick. I can't believe I spend so much time thinking about these things! :)

    3. My AoD Mo head has stayed Mo, or rather "MO". Admittedly, he came as a practice head, so I put no thought into his name and just referred to him as MO. But, the more I played with him and the more I got used to having him around, he grew on me and it pretty much turned into his permanent name. I generally don't like the idea of keeping the mold name, but sometimes it just works xD Now I want to get him a body.

The rest of my dolls (or rather my doll and the next two I am planning on getting) are characters in a short story I am working on, so they actually have names that have a lot more thought put into them.
      Just not MO.
      He's just MO.

    4. The name for my doll (Celeste) popped into my head when I was scrolling through the page looking at her company pictures. I wonder if it'll change when she gets here X) I hope not D:

If I end up getting a Rosette Doll Marguerite, however, I would probably keep her as Marguerite. They have such elaborate backstories and personalities outlined on the site, and such pretty default outfits/wigs/eyes that I would feel strange changing it!

    5. I think thinking of names for dolls is fun ^___^ I usually take note of names that I like when I come across them and just add it onto dream dolls :sweat

Like for my second doll~ his mould is called Punky Beetle, I don't think it's like a proper name !__!

    6. I'm planning on changing my girl's name when she comes because I think giving them your own name helps personalize them.

    7. I might do that too when I get my doll from fairyland. It's so hard to pick a name and the one's they have already are so cute! :)

    8. yeah the name... im very picky so it took me almost 3 weeks to decide, because when i chose one i love it! but after a few days i just couldnt bring myself to call my doll that anymore... im strange like that XD
but when choosing a name i go for the meaning of the name and if i like it. i dont really care for the language, but i prefer english and japanese names

    9. I keep the sculpt name unless I don't know how to say it, or if I associate it with someone i don't like.

    10. I have a Dollzone Mo, I named him Dimitri (after Dim in a clockwork orange, as I like the name)
But he was Mo for... ages XD

    11. I usually look up names from the countries the dolls are from and pick one I like best or that seems to suit them...I gave my Luts dolls Korean names, for example...but, though my AOD is from China, he just IS Kenji, which is a Japanese name, so there are always exceptions to my clever lil plan...:)

    12. Well, I plan on keeping my Fairyland Minifee Chloe as Chloe. I just like it. It might change though.

    13. I'm an avid collector. And one of the things I collected since I was young were names that I thought sounded really neat and ones I figured I wouldn't mind giving to my kids. And now I've got resin children, and I've bestowed on them names that came from that list :)

    14. hmmm..the way I pick names is first I think about characteristics and personalities my new doll will have...and then I go to 20000names.com and pick names based on those characteristics including ethnic XP

    15. Lol
      Emilie Clare Winslet
      Alice Elizabeth Lacy

Those are my two girls, set in the British/Victorian setting, obviously. I struggled for SOOOO long on Emilie's last name, but when I heard Claire, I practically leapt off my chair crying, ' Emilie Claire Winslet!'

Miss Emilie is the chatelaine of the house, and Miss Alice is her maid. The two make an interesting pair. >:.3 Lol. But no, I didn't stick with the mold name because there WAS no mold name. XD

    16. one of my favorite part about getting a new doll is finding a name for it. Usually I go on a name hunt almost instantly after I purchase the doll so a week after the purchase I have a name ready most of the time. But even if I usually pick a name really fast I still find it exiting to name my dolls. I feel like it makes them really mine.

    17. My as-yet-unordered doll already has a name. Planning an AoD Rao, naming her Ivy. Ivy is a roleplay character I've had for some time- in each of her three incarnations I never got the chance to do much with her as something happened to make the game peter out. So the persona gets a new life as a doll. I've always been prone to renaming dolls, unless they were very specific characters I was familiar with. Duplicates always got renamed, though.

    18. I've planed about my dolls name since before I'll get or buy them XP Now I have 2 dolls names' Autumn and Winter [Easy names, right?] I'm going to make season series, so I choose those name.

    19. My mom doesn't like the names I gave my dolls, so when I refer to them, I use the sculpt name, like, "Oh, Jerome could use a new wig," or "Jasmine's eyes keep crossing!" When I used to say "Raleigh needs a new wig", she would make a face, and "Athanasia, stop staring at your nose!", my mom would start talking about little kids who get beaten up on the playground for having ridiculous names.

And sometimes she just renames them, anyway. "That's not a name for a lady. You should call her Rachel." If I had a conversation with someone about my dolls, they'd probably think I have a wagonload, not just 5!! XD

    20. I call my doll by his name Akihito but during conversations I also sometimes refer to him as Terra xD
I think that's a beautiful name and if I didn't have a profile set for him I would probably had gone with that <3
