1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolls that look like yourself?

May 18, 2017

    1. I'd totally get a doll that resembled me, if for the Uncanny Valley aspect alone. I also think that my sister and I have some features that translate well to doll form (eye shape, face shape, skin tone etc) so it'd be easy to create an idealized version of myself/ourselves, the selves we wished we'd look like if we were anime characters. The funny thing is, my boy doll and I share a lot of features (hair, eyes, face shape, freckles, even the eye shape is similar)...but I didn't buy him for that at all! I bought him for his sculpt and it occurred to me after that we look, not alike, but similar. Totally unintentional.

    2. I've never found any sculpt that looks like me, but I tend to buy dolls with some similar features, maybe on their faces or make up, and that's funny because it happens without I notice this, I just buy and my friends and family say that the doll is a copy of me lol

    3. I think I'm too faceblind to really see my features in a blank face. And one with a face-up to resemble me seems... unnerving? Vain? Something like that.

    4. It's really unusual, I tried photoshopping the blank sculpt I found that I thought looked just like my friend, but once I got far enough it really stopped looking like him. D:

    5. I don't find a doll who looks like me (or the contrary !), but I would like to find a doll to make it same as me when I was 5 years old.

    6. I do not have an accurate mental image of myself. Not that I think I am ugly, but I tend towards viewing myself more male. So I would say it would be more difficult for me to find a doll who looks like me because they may to other people, but not to me. If that makes sense?

    7. Never encountered a sculpt that looks like me, but if that does happen, I would be quite surprised but that's it. I would also be interested in owners of that doll and how they customize the mini-me, lol it would be fun to see myself in different styles :) But I wouldn't buy it though, not because it would creep me out but it's just I would feel nothing when I look at it after a while.

    8. I would most likely purchase a sculpt that resembles me. It'd be interesting to have a mini me to dress up and style. I will most likely style her in ways I've always wanted to style myself, but couldn't. :-)

    9. I would love a doll that looks like me! One of my first sewing projects when I was 6 was a ragdoll and I made it look like me. I have seen many dolls with similar features but a big problem is I have very small eyes and doll eyed isn't a saying for no reason! :XD:
