Dolls with the same hair color as you?

Jan 8, 2011

    1. Rather than giving my dolls the same hair color as me, I purposely give them hair colors that I would love to have myself but don't due to the upkeep. Blonde in all shades, purple, dark blue...yeaaaa ^.~

    2. If I do end up with a doll that has my hair colour, it's going to be because that wig looks good on them. I've never even thought of getting one with my mousy brown hair.

I don't have BJD's yet, but from what I've figured out, my first BJD is going to be a blonde, and the next two will be carrot tops.

    3. I think it's partly true. I'm Asian and have very dark brown (almost black) hair and eyes, and I'm most attracted to dolls that have dark brown hair. Maybe cause I'm so used to seeing that. Hmmmm.

Interesting cause I never made the link! ♥

    4. All my dolls have different coloured hair. I usually match how they should look rather than copy my own. I am a honey blonde, never really liked the colour (human nature we always want what we don't have).

    5. Im a redhead and Im actually going to build a ginger army! All different shades of red and strawberry blondes!

    6. I have very dark brown hair... One of my boys has the same colour wig as my hair, though the colour on the site was listed as 'natural black'. Haha. I have one black haired, one dark brown, one ginger, one white-haired, one platinum blonde, and a dark blonde... Plan to have a honey blonde, and... Not sure about my other coming soon boy yet. :P

    7. I Have dark brown hair and now that you mention it, I have noticed that i like a lot of brown or dark colored wigs for dolls.

    8. my favorite doll always wears a red, auburn or light brunette wig. i think it just suits her very nicely. my hair is black and i never thought about putting her in a black wig because it wouldn't complement her style as much.

i do have a lot of black wigs though! i normally only use them on dolls where i think the color contrasts well with their skintone or brings out their character concept. black is also a neutral color so it goes well with pretty much anything i clothe them in. i have a couple white wigs for the same reason.

as for my entire collection, i think i have nearly every shade covered, including unnatural colors like blue, pink, green, purple, etc. to me it's more important to match the hair to the doll's appearance than to cater to my own preference in regards to color.

if this question was about hairstyle my answer might be a little different. i have short hair and a lot of my dolls have short hair as well because i do really like it a lot (and it is low maintenance, both IRL and for wigs), but again not all of them do, even if i have a personal bias to contend with - some of them have a character that a long hairstyle brings out better than my personal choice of favorite style.

    9. None of my dolls have my hair color yet. I have brown hair and my dolls have every color wig except brown.

    10. I don't intentionally (or unintentionally) opt for dolls with the same hair color as me; of all my boys every single one has a different hair color. I do share a hair color with my Shiwoo, though, now that I've gone back to dyeing it.

    11. My own hair is uh, changeable. At any given time during my life my hair regrowth has had up to 5 different colors mixed into. My hair follicles have never been able to make up their mind in terms of what color hair I'm supposed to actually have. I was born strawberry blonde with curls, then my hair went straight reddish brown for most of my childhood. At 30 I had a health scare and the medications I was on caused a lot of my hair to fall out. When it came back in it was 5 different colors and looked like I'd had a body wave plus I had actual curls at my temples in silver white. A few more years passed and that the silver white started getting more prominent but my red faded again and it got more light brown and black with some pale blonde. Last year or so it's black with brown and a lot more red, and the silver white streaks are like half my hair now. It sounds cool but it's not. The end result of so many colors is generally pretty blah.

Needless to say I dye my hair just to make it look half decent. :P I generally choose various shades of red. Darker in the winter usually, lighter in the summer. I'm waiting on it to go all silver-white than I guess I'll probably quit. But except for being born Strawberry Blonde for most of my life I've never actually had one specific hair color and I guess my dolls do reflect that. I tend to like red doll wigs, but my dolls they run the gamut of colors. Normal and fantasy. I'm always doing that too, doing streaks of whatever bright color.

Right now most of my hair is technically dyed Garnier Salsa red but I'm sporting a few wine and blonde streaks too. I used three different colors and foils when I was dyeing my hair last time. I usually do. I don't like flat hair color but I'm too cheap to spend $200 on dying my hair for a couple of months. I'm also too scared of what so called pro stylists might do to my head to let anyone else touch mine. I've had some really bad experiences with that. At this point in my life I prefer to cut my own hair and dye it. If I screw up I screw up, but I'm actually very good at it, use professional products, and have rarely if ever not liked the results of my own handiwork. I don't actually change my hair style up much so it's pretty easy to maintain except for coloring. I like long hair with thick bangs that are cut to be wispy somewhat. I just don't like to fuss much with that. I have occasionally chopped it to a slightly shorter mid back length but it's always at least at my waist, or as currently down to my butt. I like shorter hair on other women very much but I don't like it on me.

When I went back to school at 30 I nearly went to beauty school because I have always enjoyed that, hair styling, makeup and the like, but I decided on doing photography instead. My dolls I definitely play stylist with them though. I'm always cutting wigs or hair and changing them up in terms of hair color or makeup. I always look at at new doll as being a 3D canvas of sorts. I will occasionally leave one factory perfect, but not often. I would say that redheads are predominant in my collection, and that my own chosen hair color probably does have something to do with that, but I like all colors for hair and use them all the time. It really depends upon the doll. Usually I know looking at them though what color hair will make them look best and I go with that. I really like red hair but it doesn't always follow that a particular doll will look good in a red wig.

    12. no, I hate my hair (it's dark brown and natural super curly) so I would never make my dolls suffer with it
one of my planned dolls might have a dark brown wig but it'll be straight

they'll all get hair styles and colors that I can't have for myself

    13. I hadn't really thought about specific wig colors in relation to my own self. Looking around, I guess I don't have any that are the same hair color. Maybe I see that in the mirror everyday so it doesn't appeal to me as much unconsciously.

    14. My hair is currently blonde, although recently I've been changing it up every couple of years or so. I've had red hair, and a couple of different shades of brunette. I get bored with my hair pretty easily, which has led to frequent dying and going back and forth between long and short hair.

My only doll has a dark brown wig. I generally prefer brunette hair, regardless of what my own hair color may be. I don't have any plans for blonde dolls at the moment.

    15. My dolls' hair colour is not based on my own. I have auburn hair, and I don't have a single auburn-haired doll. five of my sixteen dolls are blond, three have dark brown hair, two have light brown hair, two are ginger and the rest have fantasy colours. It's not that I don't find auburn-haired dolls attractive, though. My dolls are all avatars of my pre-existing OCs and none of them happen to have auburn hair. Acutally, the hair colour I find most attractive s blond.

    16. I am a proud ginger and I do tend to gravitate to natural red hair dolls. Right now I only have one of my three dolls at home and she is also a redhead. One of the dolls that I am waiting for will be a ginger like myself but the third is a fantasy doll and will have purple hair.

    17. I have one with the same hair colour as me.. though she was originally intended to be blonde, so it wasn't really intentional. My other two are (ash and goldenrod) blonde (or blonde/pink/blue/purple/etc. depending on the day for one of them) and my last whenever I get her will have black hair. I tend to gravitate towards dark-haired people in real life but for some reason most of my dolls were supposed to be blonde...

I love red hair and I'd love to have a red-haired doll, but I don't often create characters with red hair for some reason... so I just live vicariously through others since it's a fairly popular colour for other people to use. :)

    18. Of my three dolls, none of them have the same color as me. Well, one technically does. I guess I'm considered to have light brown hair, and one of my dolls has dark brown which is brown nonetheless :). But overall, I would say I tend to give my dolls a different hair color than mine.

    19. My hair is a light brown color with a lot of natural red tones in it, that is when it's not dyed black or one of the many unnatural colors it has been over the years. I have no plans for any of my dolls to have brown or auburn hair. All the characters I come up with usually have black hair or 'crazy colored' hair with the super rare platinum blonde from time to time. It's is simply a preference. I like black and/or fun unnatural colors for hair. It makes me very happy inside :)

    20. I never really thought about that.
The doll I just got on hold is blond, but im considering rather I want her to stay blond, or maybe try the complete different choice: black.
I dunno, Im gonna give her a new faceup, and Im not sure that the blond will fit the faceup :)
Maybe going for white hair :P I dunno!

So... No, never really experienced what you are talking about :)
