1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dolls You Rarely See/Think Deserve More Love

Oct 29, 2013

    1. I have a bunch of obscure dolls that I love; Dollmore Biwol, Maunier, Mellow Cole, Alexia, Notdoll ladies, and Secretdolls, big and tiny. I'm enchanted with them but see very few of them around. I have Banjis too.

    2. How about BuddyDoll? I've only seen Mars and a few others here, but no Daniel. Here is my sweet Niall. He is the Daniel sculpt and is quite different in personality than the Daniel shown on their site. His body is beautiful and his resin is heavy and smooth, and he has not yellowed. It is too bad that BuddyDoll disappeared because they produced a quality doll.

    3. Iplehouse Taregan and Lahela.

    4. Am I really about to make a bulleted list? I think I am.

      • Lati Reds! Probably because they discontinued the whole line years ago. I run into the occasional M or K, but no Aidas or Adels. Not that I'm helping matters any, it's been three or four years since my Adel had a photoshoot...
      • Peaks Woods dolls, which is weird, because they've been around for years. The tinies/FoF line especially get very little love. It's something that comes up a lot in the FoF thread. :)
      • I recall the forums being flooded with Serendipity Sharmins back in the day, but they must all be in their boxes now.
      • Volks MSD FCS. All of them, really. Maybe they're just overshadowed by the SD FCS.

    5. Well, I am definitely biased, but I think Luts' Kid Delf An is the cutest thing-- but every time I look for other Ans, I just see Ani-- or I see Bory a million times just because that's what pops up when you search for any KDF. (not that I think Bory isn't cute-- I think Bory is adorable. But An holds a special place in my heart since it's Vince's sculpt and he was my first. There are about five out there that I know of? I just don't see them often)

    6. i love kid delf ani and i think is somehow unpopular mold bcs she's not often in gallery, same with dollkot dolls and soom io

    7. Souldoll Yeon-bee is pretty rare. I absolutely adore mine.

    8. I agree 10000000000000000000000000000 percent about Doll Leaves. I love every single sculpt they have.

    9. Here's my Doll Leaves Amara, grey skin, fullset (mini-sized)--

There are just SO many dolls made in such small numbers, and with them being so customized... I've long said that it is like every BJD is an OOAK... and that is more and more true. Even with popular companies there are sculpts that maybe only a few people in the world have and fewer will post about. And there are so many smaller companies with tons of sculpts, and now, older sculpts that just get rarer with time... Even with popular sculpts, they will appear on DoA for a while and then drop off. I think it is just the nature of BJDs.

Heck, Els used to be everywhere, but you don't see them all that often now. Pretty much all the dolls I own and that I'm interested in seem to be rare nowadays!

    10. I have a Dolkot Leaf and a Serendipity Sharmin dont see many of them nowadays, same with Custom House St. Mina where are they ??

    11. Years ago when I first became interested in BJDs, I saw a lot of Angel Region Ren... but now that I have one and am in the hobby, I barely see any! Or any other Angel Region sculpts, for that matter. Could be because most of them are discontinued.

It was also seriously hard for me to find any owner pics at all of DikaDoll Amanda before I ordered mine. And Sugarble dolls other than the naga/snake girls.

    12. I'm obviously biased because she was my second ever doll love, and if I hadn't been such a newbie I might have bought her together with my very first, but ... Dollzone Aurora. I can't believe how few of her there are around. When I ordered her, I hadn't seen any owner pics because I couldn't find any, and even now there are remarkably few Auroras around. I really can't understand why. She has so much personality. And now she's been discontinued, so ... that's really all there is! With my total of three Aurora heads, I like to joke that I own a fair percentage of all the Auroras in the world :P.

    13. I'd like to add DZ Annie to the list =) I've seen a few about but not many, especially with owner face-ups. I think she's a sculpt with a lot of potential that is often overlooked.

    14. Pluto Doll makes really amazing dolls but there aren't many of them out there.
Also, the Crobidoll E-line thread is incredibly slow, but the little buggers are so cute.

    15. Dollzone Mr. Bunny,
I'll be getting mine soon and I'm the only one I know of who actually owns him! I think he and Miss Kitty are absolutely charming and I'm thrilled to finally own the pair.

    16. All the Marchen Waltz dolls. They seem really unpopular, despite the great quality and beautiful face-ups. Here's my Aimee:

    17. phanuel - Thank you for posting that link earlier; it's one of my favorites ever on DoA. Reposting again because it's so freaking awesome and more people need to add to it! Unpopular or Underrated Dolls!

linakauno - You have a wonderful collection and I'm enchanted too. ;) I've got a Yomo, Aletheia, and Ipsae myself and really would love to add some more Dollmores to the mix!

aeryn - I think they are all in hiding! I love St. Mina and own three myself, as well as a small slew of other CH girls. There's been a lot of companies that folded and a lot more that are popping up. I guess it's inevitable that the older dolls get forgotten.

So this is totally my kind of thread! There are a lot of dolls from really great, underappreciated, and fairly new companies out that get overshadowed...but what I miss are the dolls from the older, almost-forgotten companies. Many of them aren't around any more and you don't see too many dolls still from the ones still in production. I'm always thrilled when I see dolls from any of these companies: AngelRegion, CustomHouse, Dollmore, Domuya, Happydoll, Hypermaniac, Kawainino, LovelyHouse, Notdoll Lab, RML (Real Missing Link), Secretdoll, Serendipity, Souldoll, and Unidoll.

Now I kick myself for not having bought some of the ones I was eyeing back then, but they do pop up on the market from time to time. Specific dolls that I miss seeing, even if I own a few myself:

CustomHouse St. Mina & Demian. Also loved the whole Vintage Ai and Petite Ai lines, and am super regretful I never got a Little Junior Selene. :(

Dollmore Youths Dean, Lilis Liv, and especially Ray. I never understood Ray's appeal but I wish now I'd gotten her, with her huuuuge eyes and pointy little chin.

Happydoll Margo. Oh gosh she was really quite special. Those cheekbones! Also really miss Arthur, who was kind of a male Margo...

Notdoll Lab Toadstool. Oh gosh this doll was hilarious! Also all of their big girls with their bizarre, freakish, and occasionally ugly aesthetics.

Souldoll's old Soulkid line-up: Tiffee, Griffi, Sweeney, Snyder, Katie, and Harang. Even their current line-up is gorgeous and I think underrated.

    18. The only tome I seem to see any DollFamilyH dolls is when they get sold.
      Especially MSD seem very unpopular.
They can be very beautyful and so versatile. I love Zhouyu to bits^^.

    19. Ditto here on this. I miss a LOT of the old doll companies and sculpts that have been long discontinued. I don't see a lot of the Elfdoll boys around anymore - especially not Aden and Won. I own a Unidoll UH-13, and I think she's one of maybe 30-ish that ever got made? Even so, I think only two or three other people ever posted theirs here on DoA. She was one of the more popular of that line, but it's too bad you don't see many of the others since some of the dolls in their limited lineup were incredibly unique and interesting. Some of them never got posted, and with the company gone, they're lost.

I own a bunch of the sculpts that have already been mentioned, or know someone who did/does. I know someone with a really cute Buddydoll April, but she's the only one I've ever seen around. Kiss might have been one of, if not the most popular Dolkot sculpt, but even now you never see him anymore. Same with all Angel Fantasy dolls. Iplehouse Gentle Cocori you almost never see. Dream of Doll's DOB line have very few pictures here on DoA. Back when I started collecting the Kid Delf Ttori was pretty popular, but that ended when Bory was released (sooo many Borys out there now - very cute, but also very abundant).

I kind of wish I could find a Happydoll Margo, too, to go with my older gentlemen. I didn't like her at first, but now that she's gone and I've been in the hobby for awhile, I kind of miss her grumpy face. I could have done some interesting things with that sculpt, I think.
