1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollshe 28M discussion

Jul 25, 2013

    1. I actually can't wait for this resin god to go on sale. I'll gladly support Mr. Kim and his vision by ordering one!:)

    2. What an amazing, and beautiful sculpture Dollshe's David is. I never thought I'd be looking at a doll with that much detail. The first photos are amazing, but I'd love to see him in the different resin colors. When they are ready to show us they will, and I hope they have a full front and back shot added, too.

I also had no clue that the old Dollshe boys were making a short exit. I'm so thankful I got the ones I did, and am so very thankful I was able to have Carmen paint them. I adore them, thank you Carmen.

From the converstation on this thread, I think that many of you didn't know that Dollshe pours other dolls. Twigling's beautiful dolls are poured by Dollshe, and heaven knows how many other artist dolls are. I'm not sure how Dollshe and Dollstown are related now, or even if they are. So, I think they will be just fine no matter what you think of the new direction Mr. Kim is going in. I for one cheer him on. :)

    3. I'm torn as to bring him home. He is really cool but he's so realistic compared to my other dolls. I bet he'd be fun to photograph though. Ah to start over again!

For those of you who are buying this MAN, any ideas on what you plan on doing with him (if you feel like sharing)?

    4. I plan on getting him, hopefully in the pre-order (especially if a great discount is offered as it was for Ausley Love). I hope to cover him in tattoos and very little clothing!

    5. If he makes it home to me, he's most likely going to become my tattooed angel, complete with wings, bruises, scars etc. I've been wanting to create the character for a long, long while and haven't quiiiiite found the sculpt that would work for it. He just might be it. But it's going to depend a lot on how well he poses I think. I'm going to have to see more pics before I decide. Still...my gears are turning :)

    6. gelfling9uk~ Thank you! :) If David makes it home to me after all, he's totally going to be the buddy of the guy on my avatar. : P

Whoa... I never went to check what 'Disappointed' wrote either but... this shocked me. I'm really ashamed that an artist got this thrown to his head from people in this hobby, in particular. I'm more in a lurking state than before because of my personal life, but even like this, time and time again, the ignorant, immature or aggressive people in this hobby make me too disheartened to really crawl back actively (the numbers seem to increase these days and I bump into too many). Personally, I was happy to see this (admittedly huge) change in Mr. Kim's style - but that is because of my personal taste in dolls. (Mostly, because I was kind of waiting to see manlier and more realastic - in faces too - looking male dolls. Well. A wider range of them anyway.)

I really hope we'll get to see some more and closer pictures of this guy because I'm already horribly torn between tan versus normall skintones. Even seeing his face upfront and close would help. >>

    7. Don't get disheartened. There are still good people here.

And why couldn't disappointed stand up to his/her opinions instead of presumably setting up a whole new account and pseudonym just to troll? Cowards.

    8. Oh yeah, if anything, this thread proves it as well. I was happy to read the 'replies' and reactions to 'Disappointed' and Mr. Kim's style change.

Yeah, it's just the way it's done these days. Most of the bashing seen on the internet is usually anonymus... I think these people know they're in the wrong or are fully aware of how rude the things they say are. Not having the backbone to do it 'with a face' is what makes it sad and embarrassing.

    9. My thoughts exactly. And Dollshe could have deleted the comment entirely but chose to leave it. I think that shows a lot of confidence and character on Dollshe's part.

    10. Yeah I saw that nasty comment made on their board and I was like "whoa that is wrong!" I do wish I had the extra funds and space for that hunk of beautiful resin man David......that body is so smoking hot! So much detail in everything......man bits and all.

    11. I'm definitely interested in adding David to my group (mulling between Oriental skin tone and Pale Tan). Rather fancying him to re-shell Rajeev, my majestic Indian Naga prince.

Regarding size of David's head to his body: Here's an interesting photo-shopped picture of David that my friend Robyn and her hubby worked up in order to evaluate the head to body proportion of David (photo derived from the second photo in Dollshe's grouping of David pictures). Image shared here with Robyn's permission.

As can be seen in this picture, David looks to be in the artistic perfect proportion of 7.5-8 heads tall. Robyn also noted that Michelangelo's David sculpture is about 8 heads to body tall (basic info can be found in google).

    12. I plan to bring David home....just not sure whether in oriental or pale tan resin.

Asked for more pictures and a hint at when he can be ordered....LOL.

What to do with him....hmmmm....sandals and a loin cloth. If that much. :)

    13. Just ignore them/ her/ him. Mr. Kim did the classy thing and just answered the post.

    14. I can see him sitting on a column in a thinker's pose, a la Rodin.

    15. I kind of love this sculpt. Well, more than kind of. I love that he has a roman nose and just the tiniest bit of a beer belly on him. And his backside is quite entertaining as well.

With Mr. Kim announcing layaway he will just have to find his way onto my doll shelf once I'm working again. Assuming since his page doesn't say anything about him being limited that he'll be a basic sculpt?

    16. This thread has been quite the buzz and I've been lurking a while. I happen to be in the "I love the new Dollshe" camp. And at the same time a deep admiration and respect for the legacy work. For me David is completely different from what I have been collecting - but with him I'd be buying him just for art's sake. He'd sit on a shelf and be on display, modestly clothed in some kind of archaic apparel or maybe just a leaf. :o

I love his face too. It's unique and I like it..He looks a bit weary and world worn, pensive; like a warrior, slave, king or divine being who has been carrying the weight of life for a long long time. I really hope to bring him home and find an artist who can bring him to life as well...And I'm sure whoever else nabs him will do great things with him. Kudos to Dollshe for creating something that very few of us can do with our own hands.

    17. If I got David he would just remain naked at all times......well maybe some undies if I could find any......but why cover up that body? Oh yeah so he won't turn yellow so quickly.:sweat

    18. Mr Kim has outdone himself with this new boy. I thought my old Hound's hands and feet were the most beautiful things ever, but this guy knocks it out of the park on so many levels! David is the perfect name for him. Can't wait 'til he goes on sale!

    19. If the face is as perfect up close as it is from afar he'll be wearing skin tight spandex and become that sly king of thieves in my avatar. Spandex is almost as good as naked. Almost.

    20. All that description has got me thinking...he's probably a Titan. Either Atlas who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. Or Prometheus, who stole fire back for us and was hence punished with eternal torment. Yes...I can imagine him chained to a mountain having his guts torn out everyday and healing every night...all the while wondering what he had done wrong. Very angsty
