1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollshe Orijean & DSAM 35s body release

Jan 17, 2009

    1. With the additional range of motion that Kim is saying this head/neck assembly has, the metal piece may indeed be to protect the resin from too much wear and tear. Most of our current doll heads don't really move around on the neck all that well, there is a stiffness to them. So, this may be a design feature to help with motion. If someone really wanted to modify that neck opening to fit the head on another body, it could be done.

Curious to see if the back piece of the head comes as part of the body, or as part of the separate heads.

I may not like this design, but it is quite fascinating from an engineering standpoint.

    2. Oh that's a good idea, like if ones taking the head off frequently to put on shirts and the like, but the head is a face plate system so one only needs to take off the face to change them...?

I hope that's true, I'll be waiting to see what owners think of it.

I'm wondering that too because the site says "heads" and not "face plates", if it's a face plate system they should coast a bit less than a full head so to me the price listed seems a bit high, like for a full head?.

I agree. I'm still hopeful that another body, with some meat on it's bones, will be offered with the new jointing system. If this is how my Tan Saint dreams end, I'll be very sad.
(I thought it was funny how many others wanted a tan Saint too...Weird! lol)

    3. If Saint is available again... I think will get one...

I don't mind so much about the body(even if, it looks like shrim) but Saint is my dream doll that I've waiting for very long long time ago.... I have very mix feelling about the body, it lookd wonderful joints but also look odd.

But... may be I can pass that body look to get my dream doll.

    4. Hey Gayle~ I just asked Anjonghak about adding the SA faceplate to my order and he
said he asked Dollshe about the faceplate, but it will be unavailable & that
Dollshe will upload the picture and explain why. I was told in order to
add the SA Orijean to my order, I had to add the whole SA Orijean head.

      Hmmm...
That's interesting...I thought the whole point was to switch out faceplates...unless each
faceplate has it's own 'pattern' that goes to it's own head to fit. Weird. I'll be waiting for
that explanation. I would've liked to have just switched out the DO Origin head with the
SA at will...that would be very convenient. Maybe there's another reason...but I'll find
out soon hopefully, I'm curious now too! :?

    5. interesting about the head/faceplates. but Narindoll does the same thing. you can't buy just the faceplate. my extra face fit the original headback, so I never understood the reasoning except you pay lots more. :|

      :gingerbreadman

    6. Maybe for the money, maybe due to the way they are cast, or perhaps even in case someone buys the body and head separately? As in, I can only afford the head right now, so I'll buy it now and in a few months I'll go ahead and buy the body when I can afford that!

Or...simply because if someone bought JUST a face it'd be rather creepy... Opening the box and only seeing....half a head.

Much more disturbing than our already disturbing boxes of heads.

Suddenly...I have a craving to eat doll brains :XD::wiggle

      But back on topic;

I dislike the SA Orijean head as well... ><

I truly TRULY hope that this body is really just for this head... I do admit, the posability is amazing, but if it ruins the whole aesthetic.... If they even JUST fixed the torso I could kind of see myself...squinting and blocking out the knees and sanding the hands into less club-like mitts and perhaps (should by some miracle the price become far more realistic to the exchange rate) buying Rosen in the future.

      MAYBE.

But...definately not with this....(using someone else's term, which is perfect) Shrimp-Backed Alien body.

    7. I agree with Barb. The beauty of a faceplate system, IMHO, is that you can switch out the faceplates randomly. It will be very interesting to see how this all works and what Kim's reasoning is.

I still don't care for the new doll, but I am fascinated by it, for sure.

    8. Yes, if Saint looks the same as old Saint than I will have one. But if he's different, even just slightly, I don't think I'll get one.

    9. I don't know, I was excited by the possabilitys and the promised extra posability at first, but seeing the posing pictures of the mid section just leaves me cold and it just doesn't fit the look of other dolls I want and I like things to match unless theres a "reason"

so I was thinking of getting just a head... but now it seems the face-plate system isn't atually a proper face-plate system but more like a modified headcap system? not sure if that even makes sense but it just wasn't what I was expecting

I'm also a little confused about them being able to take less pulls from the mould, I supose it doesn't matter much but I just don't really understand why, or why the head is an extra $20 ... its not a massive difference and I wouldn't question it if they were both the higher price but it just seems ... odd?

I am also kind of :? about not being able to sand all the seams, I like modding my dolls :(

so I just don't know, I want at least a head but everything just seems off , I ay just end up getting a different doll

    10. vulpes - we went over the sanding thing earlier... you can sand the outside all you want, you just cannot change the shape (internally, jointing, where stuff touches each other) as that may make the doll less "sound".

    11. I saw that, and I realise I'm an odd duck but I would like to be able to sand the internal peices as well, I have done that on other internal un-visable mods/seams, it worrys me that I could destroy the jointing by doing something similar

    12. i have to say i'm also thinking the no sanding also refers to OUTSIDE as well - like not being able to sand down the abs or else the pieces won't fit right with the rest of the torso.... maybe i'm wrong though?

    13. hmmmm, going back a few posts, i don't understand the head/faceplate thing, it's either one or the other. what is the point of a faceplate if you can't switch it out, you may as well just have a head. and if i understand correctly, you can't buy, just, the extra faceplate, you have to buy the whole head mechanism, i am confused.

    14. The head-faceplate thing may be to be able to easily access the inside of the head. If you control the tension at the neck knot or something like that, it could be simpler to reach from the front. They also said somewhere that it simplifies positioning the eyes, and giving faceups.

I hope the metal part is removable, since I'm still crossing my fingers for hybrids...

    15. Wow, I can't imagine the time and effort you put into your doll(s). :o

    16. Did anyone actually ask on Dollstown board about the other molds? Like when will Saint and the rest will be available? And whether they will have the same body as Orijean or another one?
I am really interested what Mr. Dollshe has to say to this. *__*

    17. kaiohon, I will PM killualover on that as she is in email contact with Mr Kim. I suspect this body is the one they will all get, but I would like to know when the new-old heads might appear.

    18. madammaumau thanks! That'll be uber-great! *__* I'll be waiting for any news!

      PS
Do you already have a fan-club? *___* If no, I would love to organize one. >D

    19. Does anyone have any thoughts on the special "tension" method that is mentioned? The ordering website says that there is some sort of mechanism that keeps the tension on the elastic evenly distributed. They give as an example that if you pose one arm it won't affect the other arm.

I always end up with more elastic in one leg when I restring so a system that prefents that sounds good, but I hope it won't complicate restringing. The body already has so many pieces. :sweat

    20. I will post as soon as I get a response.

And there is a sort of Dollshe fan club already. It is a Yahoo group called houndcalling. It is a great place in which to discuss one's Dollshe-related woes and wonderings.
