1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Jan 17, 2009

    1. i need to see the pictures..
i need to see the pictures......
i've been waiting for a month.....i'm already mad..........

    2. thanks christy!!!!!it's such a lovely sunday morning for me although it's raining outside !!!!!

    3. *BTW not sure if applies to Saints but the long stemmed eyes won't fit inside with the metal tension cover-least it didn't with Orijean's head-the stems kept butting against it and so the face part couldn't close properly :(

just thought I would repost that here too for those who are shopping for eyes...

    4. Ohmigosh, since people have been mentioning "otherworld" and "elf"-type designs in mind for the Orijean, I am so excited to see what everyone will do with these dolls! I can't wait to see people's characters. I think this doll is ... absolutely incredible ... wow. I would love to see one in person. Those joints! I bet he will be so fun to play with ^^

    5. I think I' have to get use to the body. It just seems a little "too"... I don't know. lol.

but I like how tall he is. My EL is 60cm and the D.I.M. Love I'm getting is 61.

I guess after I get my D.I.M. custom, I'll have to consider this one for next time!

I'm not quite sold yet. I'll need to see more piccies of one all dressed up.

    6. Hey all,
I received my dark tan "ebonyskin" Orijean. I just took him out of his box today as I've been away at work and at a conference all week long.

He's a lovely chocolate color but unfortunately there are rather large and visible areas of discoloration on him. It is a little bit around the shoulder and butt joints, where I'd expect it, but also a large area on his hip that is not due to the joint and also a big discoloration on the back of his head. I'm probably also going to take a picture immediately today so it's shown that this is not anything I did to the doll, just in case I need to resell him down the line (which I don't plan on doing but in this economy you never know what's going to come out of left field). The box has been in the house all week but I did not open it until about a half hour ago because I haven't been here.

I am not going to send him back because 1) I can live with the discoloration as it's not on his face or anything, and 2) he's from the first release and therefore I'd like to keep him for that reason. However, I am going to be leaving a little note to let Dollshe know about it because if they ship other dark tan dolls with these big areas of fade on them, someone is eventually going to be upset about it. I also thought I should post this here in case anyone was thinking of placing a dark tan doll order because I know there are people who get really wigged out about discolored spots.

Has anyone else gotten a doll in this dark "ebonyskin" shade either from Dollshe or Dollstown that has these big fadey spots? I know there were issues with some of the past tan Dollshe dolls such as Bermann having faded areas, but Bermann was nowhere near this dark so it didn't stand out as bad (I have seen one in person so I know).

Edited to add, I've put his photos (not very good but I thought it was important I take them right away even though the light is bad here - I won't have time to take them again for a while due to work schedule) in the Box Opening Gallery section. He's rather handsome apart from the spots.

    7. bunnydots, someone else who has a LightTan Orijean , theirs also has them marks.

If you look at this photo,

      and
      http://dollstown.com/zboard/data/pds2/dsam32sbodydebut_03.jpg
You will notice them sticking out bits- that's the resin from the pour gates, and they would sand them off, causing the discolouration.

Looking on the Dollstown website, they do mention discolouration with tan dolls.
      http://dollstown.com/zboard/view.ph...&sc=on&&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=32
They clearly point out the problem areas.

Sorry, but It's just something that people will have to put up with I think.

      edited to add;

Look at the Tans in these photos.
      They have the marks there.
I highly doubt Dollstown/Dollshe can make them without the marks.
Otherwise, sharp, jagged, jutting out pieces would be left all over the doll, so they sand it, to make it smooth- Causing the discolouration.

    8. Thanks Callum91. This is the first time I've gotten a doll this dark from Dollshe (or Dollstown which uses same resin). I have gotten dark dolls before from artists who were basically hand-making the dolls to minimize the gate marks, so it wasn't as noticeable.

The gate mark on the back of the headcap is not so bad - after all most people put wigs on their dolls. But the one on the hip side is very noticeable in the dark resin. If you wanted the doll to go shirtless it would be very obvious.

I'm Ok with it but other people thinking about the ebonyskin should be aware that these marks are really, really white. I'm additionally confused as to how so many other parts of my doll were poured and molded without these big marks - they're not on his legs, or face, or chest, or back - so it seems like they should be able to maybe implement a fix for the hip and torso. Or else perhaps someone got overenthusiastic with their sanding job.

    9. I think your doll is gorgeous and a nice color despite his piebald touches.

And I'm not even all that fond of the Orijean sculpt!

    10. Thank you, I think he looks quite nice myself.

    11. bunnydots ,
I agree about that they should make a way to minimize the marks.

My DarkCocori doesn't have any lighter patches, from the gates.
But that's because Iplehouse make the pour gates inside of the doll, so no discolouration is on the outside.

It's a shame about the marks, as it could put people off buying the Tanned ones from DS/DT.
Never know, if he gets enough complaints/emails Mr Dollshe might figure out a way to sort it? After all, he re-designed the body and made a 32piece one..

    12. That was a main reason I let them know about it. I may not mind, but people just need to know this can happen and/or Dollshe might want to consider moving the gates to some other area of those parts, at least on the DSAM 32 body which looks to still be under construction.

    13. Sometimes these marks can be minimised, I think by rubbing beeswax on them. I know this has fixed tan dolls from other companies.

    14. Thanks VinylFaerie, I think that might work on the lighter shades of tan, but Ebonyskin is extremely dark and the patches are whitish so I doubt anything short of a body blushing would fix it. You could definitely spray or blush to match though, plus the spot under the headcap would be covered with a wig which most people will probably put on their doll as a matter of course.

Anyway, I don't mean to make a big deal about it, as I do like my boy, so I'll keep any further discussion of this in my Gallery thread which is linked above.

    15. Guys, does anyone has the same problem with Tan Dollshe doll later? I don't like marks on the tan dolls that much... My old Tan Saint has no marks at all, he is beautiful...
If you buy articulated hands for DS, what do you choose? Soom, DZ or something else? And do you need to modify it so it ll fit?
