1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollshe Orijean & DSAM 35s body release

Jan 17, 2009

    1. The joint thing is all very fine and good but I'm not sure how that explains the torso and upper back being so incredibly unrealistic.

    2. I thought I was watching a still from an episode of the X Files when I saw that doll. *shudders*

    3. I agree with you there and he dashes my hopes of a softer body.

    4. So then if Dollshe himself is naming his dolls something other than bjd will the new dolls by him by considered off topic for DoA?

Can't wait to see owner pics and pics of dolls that people have modified :)

    5. Waaah (ToT)~* does this mean that what I've been thinking is true? I suspected that sanding the abs down would effect the dolls posture since the top and bottom of the ab parts act like a shelf for the chest and hip piece...

    6. Wow, that would be so wierd*_*. Dollshes' have been such a huge part of DOA for so many people (myself included) the very notion of a Dollshe doll not being allowed on the baord is sooo weird.

    7. I was so excited to hear that dollshe would start selling dolls again. However when I saw that body, it broke my heart. There's not a single thing I like about it. It looks like a poorly built action figure/ninja turtle and the joints make no sense. I've wanted a Saint and a Husky for so long and now I feel like that will never happen. T_T

    8. I'm pretty sure they still count. It's actually kind of logical to change the tag of "BJD" if the doll does not actually have any "ball-joints". They are "ball-jointed dolls" because that was how they started out. Articulated dolls with simple ball-and-socket joints. Many companies are now using joints that are not ball shaped at all. Many double jointed dolls have elliptical-shaped joints. But you don't see us calling them "elliptical-joint dolls". That would be silly.

Plus, the pictures have been circulating of the new bodies for a while now, and several mods have been invloved in some of the discussion threads. I highly doubt that the on-topicness of them will be put into question at this point. They are still resin-cast fully customizable dolls with the "minimum" (lol) requirement of jointing and posability.

I'm wondering how this doll body will affect the rest of the doll community/world. Will there be other companies that will persevere ever more complex jointing systems? I look forward to finding out. Mr. Dollshe has come out with the next generation of dolls for our community.

    9. Hmm.

I say. I actually like that body, it's different, it's unique, it's artistic.
Maybe with a blushing, you can soften the look, but I like the exaggeration of the body and the lines, such as the abs and ribs.
I find everything about the doll absolutely amazing.

Great job, Mr. Dollshe, great job.

    10. Even if they were found to be 'off-topic' for DoA, I'm positive it would be something to the affect of 'DollShe Dolls from 2009 release and Onwards' would be off-topic. Anything previous would be acceptable.

    11. great points Miss_Pygmalion! ^_^
I do hope this is a direction other companies take, as far as more careful consideration of how they dolls can pose and hold poses. It seems like most complaints people have about their dolls is that s/he can't hold a pose that they want (i.e. stand up, slouch, touch his/her own face, etc). I look forward to seeing how other companies respond with engineering of their own new dolls(or if they do at all ^_^)

    12. I've been lurking the various DollShe rerelease threads for rather a long while, and just wanted to say... I'm sure not having ball-joints won't make them OT XD because then any double-jointed dolls would be off-topic! Their joints are mostly peanut-shaped, after all...! It's a BJD *in principle*, it just doesn't have BALL-joints ><; hee.

I really want to see if having twice as many joints as most BJD means he poses twice as well, or if the difference is minimal o.o no comment on the body's aesthetic, I don't think I could possibly say any new point, anyway.

    13. ok reading that part on how many different strings are used in the body so that adjusting one arm doesn't bother the other arm makes me really excited to get this doll and compare it to the other bodies

but for me the thought of re stringing this guy seems a little scary

yay! my dream of having a saint (and maybe a hound to go with) are coming true! (eventually)

    14. my mom's been doing that already in her own sculpted dolls (one string per limb) and... it's a hassle. because it's now 4 strings you have to get right in tension, and when they are all in sync, doesn't seem to create any new mobility/posability.....

however, i think his jointing method would be the key to any new posability - but what he describes sounds a lot like what fairyland has already achieved with their pukis and little fees :sweat

still waiting to see what rosen looks like on the body though....

    15. If the joints really do help the posing I'm all for that, I like interesting joints. But to me he looks like someone with severe anorexia who's also obcessed with their ab roller. I have a previous dollshe and while I love him he's skinny enough. This is just too extreme for me.

At this point though I still have to see what this new body looks like in clothes before I say 100% that I don't like it. I really hope it looks better in the end than I think!

    16. I remember that one! Booo...creepy! I'm not really fond of the body...it's unrealistic. It is interesting if you like muscle anatomy though. :P

    17. I'm going to have to agree with the people who dislike that body. The first thing I thought of when visiting the website photos for it was "alien." Maybe the faceuped head is better-- I haven't seen one/looked for one yet-- but that body is... not attractive. Lol X-files... Seriously, though, this is not a doll I would want to meet in a dark alley. ... Or any alley or darkness. Ever. The posing will be interesting to see, but I think that will be about it (for me, anyway).

    18. I don't understand why dolls need to get more and more complicated. I like simple ball joints! :horror:

    19. I bet dressed he looks absolutely STUNNING. I too am looking forward to seeing owner pics, especially what Orijean looks like painted and with hair.

    20. No need to speculate about this: These dolls are On-Topic for DoA. :thumbup

If they were questionable, I'd have closed this thread while the Mods discussed the issue, etc., etc. ;)
